1 Non inorgoglirti se t'hanno posto a capo, sta' con i convitati come uno di loro, provvedi prima a loro e poi siedi.	1 If you are chosen to preside at dinner, be not puffed up, but with the guests be as one of themselves; Take care of them first before you sit down;
2 Siediti, dopo aver espletato il tuo compito, per rallegrarti della loro allegrezza e ricevere la corona per le tue buone maniere.	2 when you have fulfilled your duty, then take your place, To share in their joy and win praise for your hospitality.
3 Parla, o anziano, perché ti s'addice, ma con saggezza e senza intralciare la musica.	3 Being older, you may talk; that is only your right, but temper your wisdom, not to disturb the singing.
4 Se c'è uno spettacolo, non versare parole, non sfoggiare sapienza fuori tempo.	4 When wine is present, do not pour out discourse, and flaunt not your wisdom at the wrong time.

10 Prima del tuono s'affretta il lampo, così il favore precede l'uomo modesto.	10 Like the lightning that flashes before a storm is the esteem that shines on modesty.
11 A'lzati in tempo e non attardarti, corri a casa senza perdere tempo.	11 When it is time to leave, tarry not; be off for home! There take your ease,
12 Divèrtiti e appaga i tuoi desideri, ma non peccare con parole superbe.	12 And there enjoy doing as you wish, but without sin or words of pride.
13 Per tutto questo benedici il tuo Creatore che ti inebria con i suoi beni.	13 Above all, give praise to your Creator, who showers his favors upon you.
14 Chi teme il Signore accoglie l'istruzione, quelli che vegliano trovano il suo favore.	14 He who would find God must accept discipline; he who seeks him obtains his request.
15 Chi scruta la legge ne sarà ripieno, ma l'ipocrita vi troverà scandalo.	15 He who studies the law masters it, but the hypocrite finds it a trap.
16 Quanti temono il Signore sanno giudicare, brillano come luce i loro giudizi.	16 His judgment is sound who fears the LORD; out of obscurity he draws forth a clear plan.
17 Il peccatore rifiuterà il rimprovero e prenderà la decisione che gli piace.	17 The sinner turns aside reproof and distorts the law to suit his purpose.
18 L'uomo di senno non disprezza la riflessione, ma l'empio superbo non prova timore.	18 The thoughtful man will not neglect direction; the proud and insolent man is deterred by nothing.
19 Non far nulla senza consiglio e non cambiare idea mentre stai operando.	19 Do nothing without counsel, and then you need have no regrets.
20 Non andare su strada scivolosa, così non batterai sulle pietre.	20 Go not on a way that is set with snares, and let not the same thing trip you twice.
21 Non avventurarti su strada inesplorata	21 Be not too sure even of smooth roads,
22 e guàrdati dai tuoi stessi figli.	22 be careful on all your paths.
23 In tutto quello che fai fidati di te stesso, poiché anche questo è secondo i comandamenti.	23 Whatever you do, be on your guard, for in this way you will keep the commandments.
24 Chi crede nella legge bada ai comandamenti, chi confida nel Signore non sarà umiliato.	24 He who keeps the law preserves himself; and he who trusts in the LORD shall not be put to shame.
