1 [Dem Chorleiter. Nach Jedutun. Psalm Davids.]	1 [For the choirmaster . . . Jeduthun Psalm Of David] In God alone there is rest for my soul, from himcomes my safety;
2 Auf Gott allein harrt still meine Seele, von ihm kommt mir Hilfe.	2 he alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold so that I stand unshaken.
3 Er nur ist mein Fels und meine Hilfe, meine Burg, daß ich nicht wanke.	3 How much longer wil you set on a victim, al together, intent on murder, like a rampart already leaningover, a wall already damaged?
4 Wie lange bedrängt ihr einen einzelnen Mann, stürmt ihr alle heran wie gegen eine sinkende Wand, eine stürzende Mauer?	4 Trickery is their only plan, deception their only pleasure, with lies on their lips they pronounce ablessing, with a curse in their hearts.Pause
5 Ja, sie planen, ihn von seiner Höhe zu stürzen, sie lieben die Lüge; mit ihrem Munde segnen sie, in ihrem Herzen fluchen sie. [Zwischenspiel]	5 Rest in God alone, my soul! He is the source of my hope.
6 Auf Gott allein harre still, meine Seele! Denn von ihm stammt meine Hoffnung.	6 He alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold, so that I stand unwavering.
7 Er nur ist mein Fels und meine Hilfe, meine Burg, daß ich nicht wanke.	7 In God is my safety and my glory, the rock of my strength. In God is my refuge;
8 Auf Gott ruht mein Heil und mein Ruhm; mein starker Fels, meine Zuflucht ist Gott.	8 trust in him, you people, at al times. Pour out your hearts to him, God is a refuge for us.Pause
9 Vertrau auf ihn, du ganze Volksgemeinde! Schüttet euer Herz ihm aus! Gott ist unsere Zuflucht. [Zwischenspiel]	9 Ordinary people are a mere puff of wind, important people a delusion; set both on the scales together,and they are lighter than a puff of wind.
10 Nur ein Hauch sind die Sterblichen, Täuschung die Menschen! Auf der Waage schnellen sie hoch, insgesamt leichter als ein Hauch.	10 Put no trust in extortion, no empty hopes in robbery; however much wealth may multiply, do not setyour heart on it.
11 Verlaßt euch nicht auf Gewalt, setzt nicht leere Hoffnung auf Raub! Wenn der Reichtum wächst, hängt das Herz nicht daran!	11 Once God has spoken, twice have I heard this: Strength belongs to God,
12 Eines hat Gott gesprochen, zwei Dinge sind es, die ich vernahm: daß Gottes die Macht ist	12 to you, Lord, faithful love; and you repay everyone as their deeds deserve.
13 und bei dir, Herr, die Gnade. Ja, du vergiltst einem jeden nach seinem Tun.
