1 Danket dem Herrn, ruft seinen Namen aus! Macht bei den Völkern seine Taten bekannt!	1 O give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples!
2 Singet ihm, jubelt ihm, erzählt von all seinen Wundern!	2 Sing to him, sing praises to him, tell of all his wonderful works!
3 Rühmt euch seines heiligen Namens! Es freue sich das Herz aller, die den Herrn suchen!	3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
4 Achtet auf den Herrn und seine Macht, sucht sein Antlitz allezeit!	4 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually!
5 Gedenkt seiner Wunder, die er vollbracht, seiner Zeichen und Richtersprüche,	5 Remember the wonderful works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
6 ihr Kinder Abrahams, seines Knechtes, ihr Söhne Jakobs, seines Erwählten!	6 O offspring of Abraham his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!
7 Er, der Herr, ist unser Gott; auf alle Welt erstreckt sich sein Gericht.	7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
8 Auf ewig gedenkt er seines Bundes, des Wortes, das er für tausend Generationen befahl,	8 He is mindful of his covenant for ever, of the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
9 des Bundes, den er mit Abraham schloß, und seines Eides an Isaak.	9 the covenant which he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,
10 Er stellte ihn auf als gültig für Jakob, als ewigen Bund für Israel.	10 which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Er sprach: "Dir will ich das Land Kanaan geben als zugemessenes Erbteil!"	11 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance."
12 Als er den Hunger ins Land gerufen nur wenige und Gäste darin,	12 When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it,
13 als sie noch zogen von Volk zu Volk, von einem Reich zur andern Nation,	13 wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
14 da ließ er nicht zu, daß sie jemand bedrückte, und warnte Könige ihretwegen:	14 he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,
15 "Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an, fügt meinen Propheten kein Leid zu!"	15 saying, "Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!"
16 Als er den Hunger ins Land gerufen und jegliche Stütze des Brotes zerbrochen,	16 When he summoned a famine on the land, and broke every staff of bread,
17 entsandte er ihnen voraus einen Mann, als Sklave wurde Joseph verkauft.	17 he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
18 Man zwängte seine Füße in Fesseln, Eisen bedrohte sein Leben	18 His feet were hurt with fetters, his neck was put in a collar of iron;
19 bis zur Zeit, da sein Wort sich erfüllte, der Ausspruch des Herrn ihn bewährte.	19 until what he had said came to pass the word of the LORD tested him.
20 Da sandte der König und ließ ihn frei, der Völkerbeherrscher löste seine Fesseln.	20 The king sent and released him, the ruler of the peoples set him free;
21 Er machte ihn zum Herrn über sein Haus, zum Gebieter über seinen ganzen Besitz.	21 he made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions,
22 Seine Fürsten sollte er unterweisen nach seinem Sinn und seine Ältesten Weisheit lehren.	22 to instruct his princes at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom.
23 Dann kam Israel nach Ägypten, und Jakob ward Gast im Lande Chams.	23 Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 Er vermehrte sein Volk gewaltig und machte es stärker als seine Bedränger.	24 And the LORD made his people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their foes.
25 Er verkehrte ihr Herz, sein Volk zu hassen und Arglist zu üben an seinen Dienern.	25 He turned their hearts to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.
26 Er sandte Moses, seinen Knecht, Aaron, den er auserwählte.	26 He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron whom he had chosen.
27 Sie wirkten an ihnen seine Wundertaten und Schreckenszeichen im Lande Chams.	27 They wrought his signs among them, and miracles in the land of Ham.
28 Er sandte Finsternis, so daß es dunkel wurde; sie widerstrebten aber dennoch seinen Worten.	28 He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they rebelled against his words.
29 Er verwandelte ihre Gewässer in Blut und ließ ihre Fische sterben.	29 He turned their waters into blood, and caused their fish to die.
30 Von Fröschen wimmelte ihr Land - bis in die Gemächer ihrer Könige.	30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.
31 Er sprach, und Hundsfliegen kamen, Stechmücken über ihr ganzes Gebiet.	31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country.
32 Er sandte ihnen Hagel statt Regen, flammendes Feuer auf ihr Land.	32 He gave them hail for rain, and lightning that flashed through their land.
33 Er zerschlug ihnen Weinstock und Feigenbaum, knickte die Bäume in ihrem Gebiet.	33 He smote their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country.
34 Er sprach, und Heuschrecken kamen, Wanderheuschrecken ohne Zahl.	34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and young locusts without number;
35 Sie fraßen alles Kraut ihres Landes, fraßen die Frucht ihres Feldes.	35 which devoured all the vegetation in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 Er schlug in ihrem Land jede Erstgeburt, den Erstling all ihrer Manneskraft.	36 He smote all the first-born in their land, the first issue of all their strength.
37 Dann führte er jene heraus samt Silber und Gold, kein Strauchelnder war unter seinen Stämmen.	37 Then he led forth Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
38 Ägypten freute sich bei ihrem Auszug; denn Schrecken vor ihnen hatte sie befallen.	38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.
39 Er breitete als Schirm die Wolke aus, Feuer, um die Nacht zu erhellen.	39 He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night.
40 Sie begehrten, da ließ er Wachteln kommen, sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.	40 They asked, and he brought quails, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.
41 Den Felsen brach er auf, da entquoll das Wasser, floß in der Wüste wie ein Strom.	41 He opened the rock, and water gushed forth; it flowed through the desert like a river.
42 Denn er gedachte seines heiligen Wortes und Abrahams, seines Knechtes.	42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.
43 So führte er sein Volk unter Freude heraus, unter Jubel seine Erwählten.	43 So he led forth his people with joy, his chosen ones with singing.
44 Die Länder der Heiden verlieh er ihnen; sie nahmen in Besitz, was die Völker mühsam erworben,	44 And he gave them the lands of the nations; and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples' toil,
45 auf daß sie seine Gebote hielten und seine Gesetze befolgten. - Hallelujah!	45 to the end that they should keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD!
