1 Es antwortete der Herr weiterhin dem Job und sprach:	1 But the Lord, answering Job out of the whirlwind, said:
2 "Will mit dem Allmächtigen ein Tadler streiten? Der Ankläger Gottes antworte darauf!"	2 Gird your waist like a man. I will question you, and you must answer me.
3 Da antwortete Job dem Herrn und sprach:	3 Will you make my judgment null and void; and will you condemn me so that you may be justified?
4 "Siehe, ich bin zu gering! Was könnte ich dir erwidern? Ich lege die Hand auf meinen Mund.	4 And do you have an arm like God, or a voice like thunder?
5 Einmal habe ich geredet, aber ich werde nicht mehr antworten, und noch ein zweites Mal, aber ich werde nicht fortfahren!"	5 Envelop yourself with splendor, and raise yourself up on high, and be glorious, and put on splendid garments.
6 Da antwortete der Herr dem Job aus dem Wettersturm und sprach:	6 Scatter the arrogant with your wrath, and, when you see all the arrogant, humble them.
7 "Umgürte deine Hüften wie ein Held, so frag' ich dich, und kläre du mich auf!	7 Look down upon each of the arrogant and confound them, and crush the impious in their place.
8 Willst du wirklich mein Recht zunichte machen, ins Unrecht mich setzen, damit du recht behältst?	8 Hide them in the dust together and plunge their faces into the pit.
9 Hast du etwa einen Arm wie Gott, und kannst du mit einer Stimme gleich der seinigen donnern?	9 Then I will confess that your right hand is able to save you.
10 Schmücke dich mit Hoheit und Erhabenheit, gewande dich in Prunk und Pracht!	10 Behold, the behemoth, whom I created along with you, eats hay like an ox.
11 Laß du die Fluten deines Zornes sich ergießen, schau jeden Stolzen und demütige ihn!	11 His strength is in his lower back, and his power is in the center of his abdomen.
12 Schau jeden Stolzen und zwinge ihn nieder, wirf die Frevler zu Boden!	12 He draws up his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs have been drawn together.
13 Verbirg sie insgesamt im Staub, schließe sie leibhaftig im Erdinnern ein!	13 His bones are like pipes of brass; his cartilage is like plates of iron.
14 Dann werde auch ich dich lobpreisen, daß deine Rechte den Sieg dir verschaffte!	14 He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him; he will use him as his sword.
15 Sieh doch das Nilpferd, welches ich erschuf wie dich, es nährt sich von Gras gleich einem Rind!	15 The mountains bring forth grass for him; all the beasts of the field will play there.
16 Sieh seine Stärke in seinen Lenden, seine Kraft in den Muskeln des Leibes!	16 He sleeps in the shadows, under the cover of branches, and in moist places.
17 Seinen Schweif läßt es hängen wie eine Zeder, seiner Schenkel Sehnen sind straff verflochten.	17 The shadows cover his shadow; the willows of the brook will encircle him.
18 Seine Knochen sind wie eherne Röhren und seine Gebeine wie Eisenbarren.	18 Behold, he will drink a river and not be amazed, and he has confidence that the Jordan could flow into his mouth.
19 Es ist ein Meisterstück der Schöpfungswerke Gottes. Hat ihm gar sein Schöpfer das Schwert abgefordert?	19 He will seize him through his eyes, as if with a hook, and he will bore through his nostrils, as if with stakes.
20 Denn das Wild der Berge vergißt seiner, und alle Tiere des Feldes spielen dort.	20 Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, and can you bind his tongue with a cord?
21 Unter Kreuzdorngebüsch lagert es, im Schutz von Schilfrohr und Sumpf.	21 Can you place a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with an arm band?
22 Kreuzdorngebüsch deckt es schattend zu, die Pappeln am Flusse umgeben es.	22 Will he offer many prayers to you, or speak to you quietly?
23 Schwillt auch der Fluß, es regt sich nicht auf, bleibt ruhig, auch wenn ihm der Strom bis ins Maul steigt.	23 Will he form a covenant with you, and will you accept him as a servant forever?
24 Kann man an seinen Augen es fassen, mit Fanggeräten die Nase durchbohren?	24 Will you play with him as with a bird, or tether him for your handmaids?
25 Kannst du das Krokodil am Angelhaken hochziehen, mit der Leine seine Zunge niederdrücken?	25 Will your friends cut him into pieces, will dealers distribute him?
26 Kannst du ihm eine Binsenschnur an seine Schnauze legen und mit einem Haken ihm die Kinnlade durchbohren?	26 Will you fill up bags with his hide, and let his head be used as a home for fishes?
27 Wird es dich viel um Gnade bitten oder zarte Worte an dich richten?	27 Place your hand upon him; remember the battle and speak no more.
28 Wird es wohl einen Vertrag mit dir schließen, daß du es dauernd zum Sklaven nimmst?	28 Behold, his hope will fail him, and in the sight of all, he will be thrown down.
29 Darfst du mit ihm spielen wie mit einem Vöglein und es anseilen für deine Mägdlein?
30 Verschachern es die Jagdgenossen, verteilen sie es unter die Händler?
31 Kannst du seine Haut mit Spießen spicken und seinen Kopf mit einer Fischharpune?
32 Leg nur einmal die Hand daran, entschließe dich zum Kampf! - Du kommst nicht weit!
