προσευχη τω πτωχω οταν ακηδιαση και εναντιον κυριου εκχεη την δεησιν αυτου1 The prayer of the pauper, when he was anxious, and so he poured out his petition in the sight of the Lord.
εισακουσον κυριε της προσευχης μου και η κραυγη μου προς σε ελθατω2 O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my outcry reach you.
μη αποστρεψης το προσωπον σου απ' εμου εν η αν ημερα θλιβωμαι κλινον το ους σου προς με εν η αν ημερα επικαλεσωμαι σε ταχυ εισακουσον μου3 Do not turn your face away from me. In whatever day that I am in trouble, incline your ear to me. In whatever day that I will call upon you, heed me quickly.
οτι εξελιπον ωσει καπνος αι ημεραι μου και τα οστα μου ωσει φρυγιον συνεφρυγησαν4 For my days have faded away like smoke, and my bones have dried out like firewood.
επληγη ωσει χορτος και εξηρανθη η καρδια μου οτι επελαθομην του φαγειν τον αρτον μου5 I have been cut down like hay, and my heart has withered, for I had forgotten to eat my bread.
απο φωνης του στεναγμου μου εκολληθη το οστουν μου τη σαρκι μου6 Before the voice of my groaning, my bone has adhered to my flesh.
ωμοιωθην πελεκανι ερημικω εγενηθην ωσει νυκτικοραξ εν οικοπεδω7 I have become like a pelican in solitude. I have become like a night raven in a house.
ηγρυπνησα και εγενηθην ωσει στρουθιον μοναζον επι δωματι8 I have kept vigil, and I have become like a solitary sparrow on a roof.
ολην την ημεραν ωνειδιζον με οι εχθροι μου και οι επαινουντες με κατ' εμου ωμνυον9 All day long my enemies reproached me, and those who praised me swore oaths against me.
οτι σποδον ωσει αρτον εφαγον και το πομα μου μετα κλαυθμου εκιρνων10 For I chewed on ashes like bread, and I mixed weeping into my drink.
απο προσωπου της οργης σου και του θυμου σου οτι επαρας κατερραξας με11 By the face of your anger and indignation, you lifted me up and threw me down.
αι ημεραι μου ωσει σκια εκλιθησαν και εγω ωσει χορτος εξηρανθην12 My days have declined like a shadow, and I have dried out like hay.
συ δε κυριε εις τον αιωνα μενεις και το μνημοσυνον σου εις γενεαν και γενεαν13 But you, O Lord, endure for eternity, and your memorial is from generation to generation.
συ αναστας οικτιρησεις την σιων οτι καιρος του οικτιρησαι αυτην οτι ηκει καιρος14 You will rise up and take pity on Zion, for it is time for its mercy, for the time has come.
οτι ευδοκησαν οι δουλοι σου τους λιθους αυτης και τον χουν αυτης οικτιρησουσιν15 For its stones have pleased your servants, and they will take pity on its land.
και φοβηθησονται τα εθνη το ονομα κυριου και παντες οι βασιλεις της γης την δοξαν σου16 And the Gentiles will fear your name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth your glory.
οτι οικοδομησει κυριος την σιων και οφθησεται εν τη δοξη αυτου17 For the Lord has built up Zion, and he will be seen in his glory.
επεβλεψεν επι την προσευχην των ταπεινων και ουκ εξουδενωσεν την δεησιν αυτων18 He has noticed of the prayer of the humble, and he has not despised their petition.
γραφητω αυτη εις γενεαν ετεραν και λαος ο κτιζομενος αινεσει τον κυριον19 Let these things be written in another generation, and the people who will be created will praise the Lord.
οτι εξεκυψεν εξ υψους αγιου αυτου κυριος εξ ουρανου επι την γην επεβλεψεν20 For he has gazed from his high sanctuary. From heaven, the Lord has beheld the earth.
του ακουσαι τον στεναγμον των πεπεδημενων του λυσαι τους υιους των τεθανατωμενων21 So may he hear the groans of those in shackles, in order that he may release the sons of the slain.
του αναγγειλαι εν σιων το ονομα κυριου και την αινεσιν αυτου εν ιερουσαλημ22 So may they announce the name of the Lord in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem:
εν τω συναχθηναι λαους επι το αυτο και βασιλειας του δουλευειν τω κυριω23 while the people convene, along with kings, in order that they may serve the Lord.
απεκριθη αυτω εν οδω ισχυος αυτου την ολιγοτητα των ημερων μου αναγγειλον μοι24 He responded to him in the way of his virtue: Declare to me the brevity of my days.
μη αναγαγης με εν ημισει ημερων μου εν γενεα γενεων τα ετη σου25 Do not call me back in the middle of my days: your years are from generation to generation.
κατ' αρχας συ κυριε την γην εθεμελιωσας και εργα των χειρων σου εισιν οι ουρανοι26 In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.
αυτοι απολουνται συ δε διαμενεις και παντες ως ιματιον παλαιωθησονται και ωσει περιβολαιον αλλαξεις αυτους και αλλαγησονται27 They will perish, but you remain. And all will grow old like a garment. And, like a blanket, you will change them, and they will be changed.
συ δε ο αυτος ει και τα ετη σου ουκ εκλειψουσιν28 Yet you are ever yourself, and your years will not decline.
οι υιοι των δουλων σου κατασκηνωσουσιν και το σπερμα αυτων εις τον αιωνα κατευθυνθησεται29 The sons of your servants will live, and their offspring will be guided aright in every age.
