KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.1 I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.2 Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.3 For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has apportioned.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:4 For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function,
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;7 if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching;
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.8 if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.9 Let love be sincere; hate what is evil, hold on to what is good;
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;10 love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor.
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;11 Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;12 Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.
Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.13 Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality.
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.14 Bless those who persecute (you), bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.16 Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.18 If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.19 Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.20 Rather, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head."
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.21 Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.
