1 He that liveth for ever Hath created all things in general.	1 Celui qui vit pour les siècles a tout créé pareillement.
2 The Lord only is righteous, and there is none other but he,	2 Seul le Seigneur sera reconnu juste.
3 Who governeth the world with the palm of his hand, and all things obey his will: for he is the King of all, by his power dividing holy things among them from profane.	3 NO TEXT
4 To whom hath he given power to declare his works? and who shall find out his noble acts?	4 À personne il n’a donné capacité pour proclamer toutes ses œuvres: qui pourrait aller jusqu’au fond de ses merveilles?
5 Who shall number the strength of his majesty? and who shall also tell out his mercies?	5 Qui peut mesurer son pouvoir éclatant, qui pourrait redire tous ses gestes de miséricorde?
6 As for the wondrous works of the Lord, there may nothing be taken from them, neither may any thing be put unto them, neither can the ground of them be found out.	6 Il n’y a rien à y retrancher, rien à y ajouter; les merveilles du Seigneur restent impénétrables.
7 When a man hath done, then he beginneth; and when he leaveth off, then he shall be doubtful.	7 Quand on croit en finir, on ne fait que commencer; dès qu’on s’y arrête, on se sent dépassé.
8 What is man, and whereto serveth he? what is his good, and what is his evil?	8 Qu’est-ce que l’homme? À quoi sert-il? Qu’est-ce qu’il lui faut? Qu’est-ce qui est mauvais pour lui?
9 The number of a man's days at the most are an hundred years.	9 La durée de sa vie? Tout au plus 100 ans.
10 As a drop of water unto the sea, and a gravelstone in comparison of the sand; so are a thousand years to the days of eternity.	10 Une goutte d’eau dans la mer, un grain de sable: voilà sa vie face à l’éternité.
11 Therefore is God patient with them, and poureth forth his mercy upon them.	11 C’est pourquoi le Seigneur est patient avec les hommes et les couvre de sa miséricorde.
12 He saw and perceived their end to be evil; therefore he multiplied his compassion.	12 Il voit et il sait que leur fin est misérable, aussi leur pardonne-t-il sans compter.
13 The mercy of man is toward his neighbour; but the mercy of the Lord is upon all flesh: he reproveth, and nurtureth, and teacheth and bringeth again, as a shepherd his flock.	13 La miséricorde d’un homme va à son prochain, la miséricorde du Seigneur est pour tout être vivant; il reprend, il rectifie, il enseigne: comme un berger il regroupe son troupeau.
14 He hath mercy on them that receive discipline, and that diligently seek after his judgments.	14 Il est bon avec ceux qui acceptent la correction et observent avec empressement ses décisions.
15 My son, blemish not thy good deeds, neither use uncomfortable words when thou givest any thing.	15 Mon enfant, ne joins pas des reproches à tes bienfaits, ne cause pas de peine si tu fais un cadeau.
16 Shall not the dew asswage the heat? so is a word better than a gift.	16 La rosée ne rafraîchit-elle pas le vent brûlant? De même la parole fait plus de bien que ce qu’on donne.
17 Lo, is not a word better than a gift? but both are with a gracious man.	17 Ne vois-tu pas que quelques mots valent mieux que le cadeau? Mais une personne généreuse unit l’un à l’autre.
18 A fool will upbraid churlishly, and a gift of the envious consumeth the eyes.	18 L’insensé gâche le bienfait par ses reproches, le cadeau d’un homme mesquin fait monter les larmes aux yeux.
19 Learn before thou speak, and use physick or ever thou be sick.	19 Avant de parler, informe-toi, et soigne-toi avant d’être malade.
20 Before judgment examine thyself, and in the day of visitation thou shalt find mercy.	20 Examine-toi avant que Dieu ne te juge, et tu obtiendras le pardon à l’heure de sa visite.
21 Humble thyself before thou be sick, and in the time of sins shew repentance.	21 Humilie-toi avant d’être malade, et si tu as péché montre ton repentir.
22 Let nothing hinder thee to pay thy vow in due time, and defer not until death to be justified.	22 N’omets pas d’accomplir un vœu au temps fixé, n’attends pas la mort pour te mettre en règle.
23 Before thou prayest, prepare thyself; and be not as one that tempteth the Lord.	23 Réfléchis bien avant de faire un vœu, ne sois pas de ceux qui tentent le Seigneur.
24 Think upon the wrath that shall be at the end, and the time of vengeance, when he shall turn away his face.	24 Pense au jugement des derniers jours, aux jours du châtiment où Dieu détournera sa face.
25 When thou hast enough, remember the time of hunger: and when thou art rich, think upon poverty and need.	25 Au temps de l’abondance rappelle-toi les temps de famine; aux jours de la richesse pense à la pauvreté et au manque de tout.
26 From the morning until the evening the time is changed, and all things are soon done before the Lord.	26 Du matin au soir le temps s’est écoulé: tout passe vite devant le Seigneur.
27 A wise man will fear in every thing, and in the day of sinning he will beware of offence: but a fool will not observe time.	27 Celui qui est sage se surveille en toute occasion; même quand le péché abonde, il évite la faute.
28 Every man of understanding knoweth wisdom, and will give praise unto him that found her.	28 Toute personne sensée reconnaît la sagesse, et félicite ceux qui l’ont trouvée.
29 They that were of understanding in sayings became also wise themselves, and poured forth exquisite parables.	29 Ceux dont les paroles sont pleines de bon sens ont su devenir sages; leurs maximes sont une pluie bienfaisante.
30 Go not after thy lusts, but refrain thyself from thine appetites.	30 Ne te laisse pas entraîner par tes convoitises, réfrène tes appétits.
31 If thou givest thy soul the desires that please her, she will make thee a laughingstock to thine enemies that malign thee.	31 Si tu t’accordes ce que veulent tes passions, elles feront de toi la risée de tes ennemis.
32 Take not pleasure in much good cheer, neither be tied to the expence thereof.	32 Ne mets pas ton bonheur à faire la fête, ne te laisse pas prendre à ce genre d’existence.
33 Be not made a beggar by banqueting upon borrowing, when thou hast nothing in thy purse: for thou shalt lie in wait for thine own life, and be talked on.	33 Ne t’appauvris pas en menant joyeuse vie avec de l’argent emprunté lorsque tu n’as rien dans ta bourse.
