O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is with every generation.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.2 Who will declare the powers of the Lord? Who make a hearing for all his praises?
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.3 Blessed are those who keep judgment and who do justice at all times.
Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.4 Remember us, O Lord, with good will for your people. Visit us with your salvation,
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;5 so that we may see the goodness of your elect, so that we may rejoice in the joy of your nation, so that you may be praised along with your inheritance.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.6 We have sinned, as have our fathers. We have acted unjustly; we have wrought iniquity.
He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.7 Our fathers did not understand your miracles in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of your mercies. And they provoked you, while going up to the sea, even the Red Sea.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.8 And he saved them for the sake of his name, so that he might make known his power.
Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;9 And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up. And he led them into the abyss, as if into a desert.
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:10 And he saved them from the hand of those who hated them. And he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:11 And the water covered those who troubled them. Not one of them remained.
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.12 And they believed his words, and they sang his praises.
When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;13 As soon as they had finished, they forgot his works, and they would not endure his counsel.
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;14 And they coveted their desire in the desert, and they tempted God in a waterless place.
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.15 And he granted to them their request, and he sent abundance into their souls.
Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.16 And they provoked Moses in the camp, and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord.
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, and it covered the congregation of Abiram.
Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:18 And a fire broke out in their congregation. A flame burned up the sinners.
Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.19 And they fashioned a calf at Horeb, and they adored a graven image.
The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.20 And they exchanged their glory for the likeness of a calf that eats hay.
He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:21 They forgot God, who saved them, who did great things in Egypt:
To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.22 miracles in the land of Ham, terrible things at the Red Sea.
Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23 And he said that he would destroy them, yet Moses, his elect, stood firm before him in the breach, in order to avert his wrath, lest he destroy them.
And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.24 And they held the desirable land to be nothing. They did not trust in his word.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.25 And they murmured in their tabernacles. They did not heed the voice of the Lord.
He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.26 And he lifted up his hand over them, in order to prostrate them in the desert,
They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.27 and in order to cast their offspring among the nations, and to scatter them among the regions.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.28 And they were initiated into Baal of Peor, and they ate the sacrifices of the dead.
He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.29 And they provoked him with their inventions, and ruination was multiplied in them.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.30 Then Phinehas stood up and placated him: and so the violent disturbance ceased.
He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.31 And it was reputed to him unto justice, from generation to generation, even forever.
He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.32 And they provoked him at the Waters of Contradiction, and Moses was afflicted because of them,
He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.33 for they exasperated his spirit. And so he divided them with his lips.
He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,34 They did not destroy the nations, about which the Lord had spoken to them.
And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.35 And they were mixed among the Gentiles. And they learned their works,
He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.36 and they served their graven images, and it became a scandal to them.
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.37 And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.38 And they shed innocent blood: the blood of their sons and of their daughters, which they sacrificed to the graven images of Canaan. And the land was infected with bloodshed,
He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.39 and was contaminated with their works. And they fornicated according to their own inventions.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.40 And the Lord became furiously angry with his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.41 And he delivered them into the hands of the nations. And those who hated them became rulers over them.
For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.42 And their enemies afflicted them, and they were humbled under their hands.
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:43 Many times, he delivered them. Yet they provoked him with their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquities.
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;44 And he saw that they were in tribulation, and he heard their prayer.
That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.45 And he was mindful of his covenant, and he repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
And he provided for them with mercies, in the sight of all those who had seized them.
Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may confess your holy name and glory in your praise.
Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, from ages past, even to all ages. And let all the people say: Amen. Amen.
