KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.1 Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the peoples his deeds!
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.2 Sing praise, play music; proclaim all his wondrous deeds!
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.3 Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.4 Rely on the mighty LORD; constantly seek his face.
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;5 Recall the wondrous deeds he has done, his signs and his words of judgment,
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.6 You descendants of Abraham his servant, offspring of Jacob the chosen one!
He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.7 The LORD is our God who rules the whole earth.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.8 He remembers forever his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations,
Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;9 Which was made with Abraham, confirmed by oath to Isaac,
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:10 And ratified as binding for Jacob, an everlasting covenant for Israel:
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:11 "To you I give the land of Canaan, your own allotted heritage."
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.12 When they were few in number, a handful, and strangers there,
When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;13 Wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another,
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;14 He let no one oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.15 " Do not touch my anointed, to my prophets do no harm."
Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.16 Then he called down a famine on the land, destroyed the grain that sustained them.
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:17 He had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.
Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:18 They shackled his feet with chains; collared his neck in iron,
Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.19 Till his prediction came to pass, and the word of the LORD proved him true.
The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.20 The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:21 He made him lord over his palace, ruler over all his possessions,
To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.22 To instruct his princes by his word, to teach his elders wisdom.
Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived in the land of Ham.
And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.24 God greatly increased his people, made them too many for their foes.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.25 He turned their hearts to hate his people, to treat his servants unfairly.
He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.26 He sent his servant Moses, Aaron whom he had chosen.
They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.27 They worked his signs in Egypt and wonders in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.28 He sent darkness and it grew dark, but they rebelled against his word.
He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.29 He turned their waters into blood and killed all their fish.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even the chambers of their kings.
He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.31 He spoke and there came swarms of flies, gnats through all their country.
He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.32 For rain he gave them hail, flashes of lightning throughout their land.
He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.33 He struck down their vines and fig trees, shattered the trees of their country.
He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,34 He spoke and the locusts came, grass hoppers without number.
And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.35 They devoured every plant in the land; they ravaged the crops of their fields.
He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.36 He struck down every firstborn in the land, the first fruits of all their vigor.
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.37 He brought his people out, laden with silver and gold; no stragglers among the tribes.
Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.38 Egypt rejoiced when they left, for panic had seized them.
He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.39 He spread a cloud as a cover, and made a fire to light up the night.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.40 They asked and he brought them quail; with bread from heaven he filled them.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.41 He split the rock and water gushed forth; it flowed through the desert like a river.
For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.42 For he remembered his sacred word to Abraham his servant.
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:43 He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with shouts of triumph.
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;44 He gave them the lands of the nations, the wealth of the peoples to own,
That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.45 That they might keep his laws and observe his teachings. Hallelujah!
