1 Die Philister versammelten ihr ganzes Heer bei Afek, während die Israeliten ihr Lager an der Quelle bei Jesreel aufgeschlagen hatten.	1 Now the Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek; and the Israelites were encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel.
2 Als nun die Fürsten der Philister mit ihren Hundertschaften und Tausendschaften auf dem Marsch waren - David und seine Männer zogen mit Achisch am Schluss -,	2 As the lords of the Philistines were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were passing on in the rear with Achish,
3 fragten die Obersten der Philister: Was sollen diese Hebräer hier? Achisch antwortete den Obersten der Philister: Das ist doch David, der Knecht Sauls, des Königs von Israel, der seit Jahr und Tag bei mir ist. Seit dem Tag, da er übergelaufen ist, bis heute fand ich bei ihm nichts Nachteiliges.	3 the commanders of the Philistines said, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, "Is not this David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me now for days and years, and since he deserted to me I have found no fault in him to this day."
4 Die Obersten der Philister aber wurden zornig auf ihn und sagten zu ihm: Schick den Mann zurück! Er soll an den Ort zurückkehren, den du ihm zugewiesen hast, und nicht mit uns in den Kampf ziehen. Dann kann er sich in der Schlacht nicht gegen uns wenden. Womit könnte er sich die Gunst seines Herrn besser erwerben als mit den Köpfen unserer Leute hier?	4 But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him; and the commanders of the Philistines said to him, "Send the man back, that he may return to the place to which you have assigned him; he shall not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could this fellow reconcile himself to his lord? Would it not be with the heads of the men here?
5 Ist das nicht der gleiche David, von dem man beim Reigentanz gesungen hat: Saul hat Tausend erschlagen, David aber Zehntausend?	5 Is not this David, of whom they sing to one another in dances, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands'?"
6 Da rief Achisch David zu sich und sagte zu ihm: So wahr Jahwe lebt, du bist ein aufrechter Mann und es wäre in meinen Augen gut, wenn du mit mir ins Feld ziehen und wieder zurückkommen würdest; denn ich habe an dir nichts Unrechtes entdeckt seit dem Tag, an dem du zu mir gekommen bist, bis heute. Aber den Fürsten bist du nicht genehm.	6 Then Achish called David and said to him, "As the LORD lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign; for I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless the lords do not approve of you.
7 Darum kehr jetzt um und zieh in Frieden; so wirst du nichts tun, was den Fürsten der Philister missfällt.	7 So go back now; and go peaceably, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines."
8 David sagte zu Achisch: Was habe ich denn getan? Was hast du an deinem Knecht auszusetzen gehabt von dem Tag an, an dem ich in deinen Dienst getreten bin, bis heute? Warum darf ich nicht mitkommen und gegen die Feinde meines Herrn, des Königs, kämpfen?	8 And David said to Achish, "But what have I done? What have you found in your servant from the day I entered your service until now, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?"
9 Achisch antwortete David: Gewiss, mir bist du teuer wie ein Engel Gottes; aber die Obersten der Philister haben gesagt: Er soll nicht mit uns in den Kampf ziehen.	9 And Achish made answer to David, "I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless the commanders of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.'
10 Darum brich morgen früh auf, samt den Knechten deines Herrn, die mit dir gekommen sind. Brecht morgen früh auf, sobald es hell wird, und geht (nach Hause)!	10 Now then rise early in the morning with the servants of your lord who came with you; and start early in the morning, and depart as soon as you have light."
11 David machte sich also mit seinen Männern in aller Frühe auf den Weg; er zog noch am Morgen weg und kehrte ins Land der Philister zurück; die Philister aber zogen nach Jesreel hinauf.	11 So David set out with his men early in the morning, to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
