EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Jakobus, Knecht Gottes und Jesu Christi, des Herrn, grüßt die zwölf Stämme, die in der Zerstreuung leben. 1: 1 Petr 1,1	1 From James, servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. Greetings to the twelve tribes of theDispersion.
2 Seid voll Freude, meine Brüder, wenn ihr in mancherlei Versuchungen geratet.	2 My brothers, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon you,
3 Ihr wisst, dass die Prüfung eures Glaubens Ausdauer bewirkt.	3 for you wel know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and
4 Die Ausdauer aber soll zu einem vollendeten Werk führen; denn so werdet ihr vollendet und untadelig sein, es wird euch nichts mehr fehlen.	4 perseverance must complete its work so that you wil become ful y developed, complete, not deficient inany way.
5 Fehlt es aber einem von euch an Weisheit, dann soll er sie von Gott erbitten; Gott wird sie ihm geben, denn er gibt allen gern und macht niemand einen Vorwurf.	5 Any of you who lacks wisdom must ask God, who gives to al generously and without scolding; it wil begiven.
6 Wer bittet, soll aber voll Glauben bitten und nicht zweifeln; denn wer zweifelt, ist wie eine Welle, die vom Wind im Meer hin und her getrieben wird.	6 But the prayer must be made with faith, and no trace of doubt, because a person who has doubts is likethe waves thrown up in the sea by the buffeting of the wind.
7 Ein solcher Mensch bilde sich nicht ein, dass er vom Herrn etwas erhalten wird:	7 That sort of person, in two minds,
8 Er ist ein Mann mit zwei Seelen, unbeständig auf all seinen Wegen.	8 inconsistent in every activity, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
9 Der Bruder, der in niederem Stand lebt, rühme sich seiner hohen Würde,	9 It is right that the brother in humble circumstances should glory in being lifted up,
10 der Reiche aber seiner Niedrigkeit; denn er wird dahinschwinden wie die Blume im Gras.	10 and the rich in being brought low. For the rich wil last no longer than the wild flower;
11 Die Sonne geht auf und ihre Hitze versengt das Gras; die Blume verwelkt und ihre Pracht vergeht. So wird auch der Reiche vergehen mit allem, was er unternimmt.	11 the scorching sun comes up, and the grass withers, its flower falls, its beauty is lost. It is the samewith the rich: in the middle of a busy life, the rich wil wither.
12 Glücklich der Mann, der in der Versuchung standhält. Denn wenn er sich bewährt, wird er den Kranz des Lebens erhalten, der denen verheißen ist, die Gott lieben.	12 Blessed is anyone who perseveres when trials come. Such a person is of proven worth and will winthe prize of life, the crown that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 Keiner, der in Versuchung gerät, soll sagen: Ich werde von Gott in Versuchung geführt. Denn Gott kann nicht in die Versuchung kommen, Böses zu tun, und er führt auch selbst niemand in Versuchung.	13 Never, when you are being put to the test, say, 'God is tempting me'; God cannot be tempted by evil,and he does not put anybody to the test .
14 Jeder wird von seiner eigenen Begierde, die ihn lockt und fängt, in Versuchung geführt.	14 Everyone is put to the test by being attracted and seduced by that person's own wrong desire.
15 Wenn die Begierde dann schwanger geworden ist, bringt sie die Sünde zur Welt; ist die Sünde reif geworden, bringt sie den Tod hervor.	15 Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin, and when sin reaches ful growth, it gives birth todeath.
16 Lasst euch nicht irreführen, meine geliebten Brüder;	16 Make no mistake about this, my dear brothers:
17 jede gute Gabe und jedes vollkommene Geschenk kommt von oben, vom Vater der Gestirne, bei dem es keine Veränderung und keine Verfinsterung gibt.	17 al that is good, al that is perfect, is given us from above; it comes down from the Father of al light;with him there is no such thing as alteration, no shadow caused by change.
18 Aus freiem Willen hat er uns durch das Wort der Wahrheit geboren, damit wir gleichsam die Erstlingsfrucht seiner Schöpfung seien.	18 By his own choice he gave birth to us by the message of the truth so that we should be a sort of first-fruits of all his creation.
19 Denkt daran, meine geliebten Brüder: Jeder Mensch soll schnell bereit sein zu hören, aber zurückhaltend im Reden und nicht schnell zum Zorn bereit;	19 Remember this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow tohuman anger;
20 denn im Zorn tut der Mensch nicht das, was vor Gott recht ist.	20 God's saving justice is never served by human anger;
21 Darum legt alles Schmutzige und Böse ab, seid sanftmütig und nehmt euch das Wort zu Herzen, das in euch eingepflanzt worden ist und das die Macht hat, euch zu retten.	21 so do away with al impurities and remnants of evil. Humbly welcome the Word which has beenplanted in you and can save your souls.
22 Hört das Wort nicht nur an, sondern handelt danach; sonst betrügt ihr euch selbst.	22 But you must do what the Word tel s you and not just listen to it and deceive yourselves.
23 Wer das Wort nur hört, aber nicht danach handelt, ist wie ein Mensch, der sein eigenes Gesicht im Spiegel betrachtet:	23 Anyone who listens to the Word and takes no action is like someone who looks at his own features ina mirror and,
24 Er betrachtet sich, geht weg und schon hat er vergessen, wie er aussah.	24 once he has seen what he looks like, goes off and immediately forgets it.
25 Wer sich aber in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit vertieft und an ihm festhält, wer es nicht nur hört, um es wieder zu vergessen, sondern danach handelt, der wird durch sein Tun selig sein.	25 But anyone who looks steadily at the perfect law of freedom and keeps to it -- not listening andforgetting, but putting it into practice -- will be blessed in every undertaking.
26 Wer meint, er diene Gott, aber seine Zunge nicht im Zaum hält, der betrügt sich selbst und sein Gottesdienst ist wertlos.	26 Nobody who fails to keep a tight rein on the tongue can claim to be religious; this is mere self-deception; that person's religion is worthless.
27 Ein reiner und makelloser Dienst vor Gott, dem Vater, besteht darin: für Waisen und Witwen zu sorgen, wenn sie in Not sind, und sich vor jeder Befleckung durch die Welt zu bewahren.	27 Pure, unspoilt religion, in the eyes of God our Father, is this: coming to the help of orphans andwidows in their hardships, and keeping oneself uncontaminated by the world.
