1 Lange Zeit später, nachdem der Herr Israel Ruhe vor all seinen Feinden ringsum verschafft hatte und Josua alt und betagt geworden war,	1 And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.
2 rief Josua ganz Israel, seine Ältesten und Häupter, seine Richter und Listenführer zusammen und sagte zu ihnen: Ich bin nun alt und betagt.	2 And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:
3 Ihr habt selbst alles gesehen, was der Herr, euer Gott, mit all diesen Völkern vor euren Augen gemacht hat; denn der Herr, euer Gott, hat selbst für euch gekämpft.	3 And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you.
4 Seht, ich habe euch die Gebiete dieser Völker, die noch übrig geblieben sind, und all der Völker, die ich vernichtet habe, vom Jordan bis zum großen Meer im Westen entsprechend euren Stämmen als Erbbesitz zugeteilt.	4 Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
5 Der Herr, euer Gott, wird sie (auch künftig) vor euren Augen verjagen und sie vor euren Augen vertreiben und ihr werdet ihr Land in Besitz nehmen, wie es euch der Herr, euer Gott, versprochen hat.	5 And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.
6 Haltet aber immer daran fest, alles zu beachten und zu tun, was im Gesetzbuch des Mose geschrieben steht; weicht nicht nach rechts oder links davon ab!	6 Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
7 Vermischt euch nicht mit diesen Völkern, die bei euch noch übrig geblieben sind; den Namen ihrer Götter sollt ihr nicht nennen und nicht bei ihnen schwören, ihr sollt ihnen nicht dienen und euch nicht vor ihnen niederwerfen,	7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
8 sondern am Herrn, eurem Gott, fest halten, wie ihr es bis heute getan habt.	8 But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.
9 Der Herr hat vor euren Augen große und mächtige Völker vertrieben; bis heute konnte niemand euch standhalten.	9 For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.
10 Ein Einziger von euch kann tausend verfolgen; denn der Herr, euer Gott, kämpft selbst für euch, wie er es euch versprochen hat.	10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
11 Achtet darum um eures Lebens willen sehr darauf, dass ihr (immer) den Herrn, euren Gott, liebt.	11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
12 Denn wenn ihr euch wirklich von ihm abwendet und euch diesen Völkern, die bei euch noch übrig geblieben sind, anschließt, wenn ihr euch mit ihnen verschwägert, wenn ihr euch mit ihnen vermischt und sie sich mit euch vermischen,	12 Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
13 dann könnt ihr gewiss sein, dass der Herr, euer Gott, diese Völker nicht mehr vor euren Augen vertreiben wird. Sie werden zur Schlinge und zur Falle für euch, zur Peitsche für euren Rücken und zum Stachel in euren Augen, bis ihr aus diesem schönen Land verschwindet, das der Herr, euer Gott, euch gegeben hat.	13 Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
14 Ich selbst muss heute den Weg alles Irdischen gehen. Ihr aber sollt mit ganzem Herzen und ganzer Seele erkennen, dass von all den Zusagen, die der Herr, euer Gott, euch gegeben hat, keine einzige ausgeblieben ist; alle sind sie eingetroffen, keine einzige von ihnen ist ausgeblieben.	14 And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
15 Wie aber bisher jede Zusage, die der Herr, euer Gott, euch gegeben hat, eingetroffen ist, so wird der Herr, euer Gott, künftig jede Drohung gegen euch verwirklichen, bis er euch aus diesem schönen Land hinweggerafft hat, das euch der Herr, euer Gott, gegeben hat.	15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
16 Wenn ihr euch gegen den Bund, auf den der Herr, euer Gott, euch verpflichtet hat, vergeht, wenn ihr anderen Göttern dient und sie anbetet, dann wird der Zorn des Herrn gegen euch entbrennen und ihr werdet rasch aus dem schönen Land verschwinden, das er euch gegeben hat.	16 When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
