Deuteronomium 5

1 Mose rief ganz Israel zusammen. Er sagte zu ihnen: Höre, Israel, die Gesetze und Rechtsvorschriften, die ich euch heute vortrage. Ihr sollt sie lernen, auf sie achten und sie halten.	1 And Moses summoned all of Israel, and he said to them: “Listen, O Israel, to the ceremonies and judgments, which I am speaking to your ears on this day. Learn them, and fulfill them in deed.
2 Der Herr, unser Gott, hat am Horeb einen Bund mit uns geschlossen.	2 The Lord our God formed a covenant with us at Horeb.
3 Nicht mit unseren Vätern hat der Herr diesen Bund geschlossen, sondern mit uns, die wir heute hier stehen, mit uns allen, mit den Lebenden.	3 He did not make the covenant with our fathers, but with us, who are alive and in the present time.
4 Auge in Auge hat der Herr auf dem Berg mitten aus dem Feuer mit euch geredet.	4 He spoke to us face to face on the mountain, from the midst of fire.
5 Ich stand damals zwischen dem Herrn und euch, um euch das Wort des Herrn weiterzugeben; denn ihr wart aus Furcht vor dem Feuer nicht auf den Berg gekommen. Der Herr sprach:	5 I was the mediator, for I was in the middle between the Lord and you, at that time, to announce his words to you. For you were afraid of the fire, and so you did not ascend to the mountain. And he said:
6 Ich bin Jahwe, dein Gott, der dich aus Ägypten geführt hat, aus dem Sklavenhaus.	6 ‘I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude.
7 Du sollst neben mir keine anderen Götter haben.	7 You shall not have strange gods in my sight.
8 Du sollst dir kein Gottesbildnis machen, das irgendetwas darstellt am Himmel droben, auf der Erde unten oder im Wasser unter der Erde.	8 You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor the likeness of anything, which is in heaven above, or on earth below, or which abides in the waters under the earth.
9 Du sollst dich nicht vor anderen Göttern niederwerfen und dich nicht verpflichten, ihnen zu dienen. Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin ein eifersüchtiger Gott: Bei denen, die mir Feind sind, verfolge ich die Schuld der Väter an den Söhnen und an der dritten und vierten Generation;	9 You shall not adore and you shall not worship these things. For I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, repaying the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation to those who hate me,
10 bei denen, die mich lieben und auf meine Gebote achten, erweise ich Tausenden meine Huld.	10 and acting with mercy in thousands of ways to those who love me and keep my precepts.
11 Du sollst den Namen des Herrn, deines Gottes, nicht missbrauchen; denn der Herr lässt den nicht ungestraft, der seinen Namen missbraucht.	11 You shall not use the name of the Lord your God in vain. For he will not go unpunished who takes up his name over an unimportant matter.
12 Achte auf den Sabbat: Halte ihn heilig, wie es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht hat.	12 Observe the day of the Sabbath, so that you may sanctify it, just as the Lord your God has instructed you.
13 Sechs Tage darfst du schaffen und jede Arbeit tun.	13 For six days, you shall labor and do all your work.
14 Der siebte Tag ist ein Ruhetag, dem Herrn, deinem Gott, geweiht. An ihm darfst du keine Arbeit tun: du, dein Sohn und deine Tochter, dein Sklave und deine Sklavin, dein Rind, dein Esel und dein ganzes Vieh und der Fremde, der in deinen Stadtbereichen Wohnrecht hat. Dein Sklave und deine Sklavin sollen sich ausruhen wie du.	14 The seventh is the day of the Sabbath, that is, the rest of the Lord your God. You shall not do any work in it, nor shall your son, nor daughter, nor man servant, nor woman servant, nor ox, nor donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor the sojourner who is within your gates, so that your men and woman servants may rest, just as you do.
15 Denk daran: Als du in Ägypten Sklave warst, hat dich der Herr, dein Gott, mit starker Hand und hoch erhobenem Arm dort herausgeführt. Darum hat es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht, den Sabbat zu halten.	15 Remember that you also were servants in Egypt, and the Lord your God led you away from that place with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Because of this, he has instructed you so that you would observe the Sabbath day.
16 Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, wie es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht hat, damit du lange lebst und es dir gut geht in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt.	16 Honor your father and mother, just as the Lord your God has instructed you, so that you may live a long time, and so that it may be well with you in the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.
17 Du sollst nicht morden,	17 You shall not murder.
18 du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen,	18 And you shall not commit adultery.
19 du sollst nicht stehlen,	19 And you shall not commit theft.
20 du sollst nicht Falsches gegen deinen Nächsten aussagen,	20 Neither shall you speak false testimony against your neighbor.
21 du sollst nicht nach der Frau deines Nächsten verlangen und du sollst nicht das Haus deines Nächsten begehren, nicht sein Feld, seinen Sklaven oder seine Sklavin, sein Rind oder seinen Esel, nichts, was deinem Nächsten gehört.	21 You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his house, nor his field, nor his man servant, nor his woman servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything out of all that is his.’
22 Diese Worte sagte der Herr auf dem Berg zu eurer vollzähligen Versammlung, mitten aus dem Feuer, aus Wolken und Dunkel, unter lautem Donner, diese Worte und sonst nichts. Er schrieb sie auf zwei Steintafeln und übergab sie mir.	22 The Lord spoke these words to the entire multitude of you on the mountain, from the midst of the fire and the cloud and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone, which he delivered to me.
23 Als ihr den Donner mitten aus der Finsternis gehört hattet und der Berg immer noch in Feuer stand, seid ihr zu mir gekommen - eure Stammesführer und Ältesten -	23 Then, after you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, and you saw the mountain burning, you approached me, all you leaders of the tribes and those greater by birth. And you said:
24 und habt gesagt: Sieh, der Herr, unser Gott, hat uns seine Herrlichkeit und Macht gezeigt und wir haben seine donnernde Stimme mitten aus dem Feuer gehört. Heute ist es uns geschehen, dass Gott zu Menschen sprach und sie am Leben blieben.	24 ‘Behold, the Lord our God has revealed to us his majesty and his greatness. We have heard his voice from the midst of fire, and we have proven today that, though God is speaking with man, man has lived.
25 Trotzdem: Warum sollen wir noch einmal das Leben aufs Spiel setzen? Denn dieses große Feuer könnte uns verzehren. Wenn wir noch einmal die donnernde Stimme des Herrn, unseres Gottes, hören, werden wir sterben.	25 Therefore, why should we die, and why should this very great fire devour us? For if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, we will die.
26 Denn welches Wesen aus Fleisch wäre am Leben geblieben, wenn es wie wir die donnernde Stimme des lebendigen Gottes gehört hätte, als er mitten aus dem Feuer redete?	26 What is all flesh, that it would hear the voice of the living God, who speaks from the midst of fire, just as we have heard it, and be able to live?
27 Geh du allein hin! Höre alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, sagt. Berichte uns dann alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, dir gesagt hat, und wir werden es hören und halten.	27 Instead, you should approach and listen to all the things that the Lord our God will say to you. And you will speak to us, and we will listen and do these things.’
28 Der Herr hörte euer Geschrei, als ihr auf mich einredetet, und sagte zu mir: Ich habe das Geschrei dieses Volkes gehört, mit dem es dich bedrängt hat. Alles, was sie von dir verlangen, ist recht.	28 But when the Lord had heard this, he said to me: ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they spoke to you. All this, they have spoken well.
29 Möchten sie doch diese Gesinnung behalten, mich fürchten und ihr Leben lang auf alle meine Gebote achten, damit es ihnen und ihren Nachkommen immer gut geht.	29 Who will grant to them to have such a mind, so that they may fear me, and may keep all my commandments at all times, so that it may be well with them and with their sons forever?
30 Geh und sag ihnen: Kehrt zu euren Zelten zurück!	30 Go and say to them: Return to your tents.
31 Und du, stell dich hierher zu mir! Ich will dir das ganze Gebot mitteilen, die Gesetze und Rechtsvorschriften, die du sie lehren sollst und die sie halten sollen in dem Land, das ich ihnen gebe und das sie in Besitz nehmen sollen.	31 But as for you, stand here with me, and I will speak to you all my commandments and ceremonies, as well as judgments. These, you shall teach them, so that they may do them in the land, which I will give to them as a possession.
32 Daher sollt ihr darauf achten, dass ihr handelt, wie es der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorgeschrieben hat. Ihr sollt weder rechts noch links abweichen.	32 And so, keep and do the things which the Lord God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside, neither to the right, nor to the left.
33 Ihr sollt nur auf dem Weg gehen, den der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorgeschrieben hat, damit ihr Leben habt und es euch gut geht und ihr lange lebt in dem Land, das ihr in Besitz nehmt.	33 For you shall walk in the way that the Lord your God has instructed, so that you may live, and it may be well with you, and your days may be extended in the land of your possession.’ ”
