EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Das sind die Worte, die Mose vor ganz Israel gesprochen hat. Er sprach sie jenseits des Jordan, in der Wüste, in der Araba, östlich von Suf, zwischen Paran und Tofel, Laban, Hazerot und Di- Sahab.	1 These are the words which Moses addressed to al Israel beyond the Jordan, in the desert, in theArabah facing Suph, between Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth and Dizahab.
2 Elf Tage sind es vom Horeb auf dem Weg zum Gebirge Seïr bis nach Kadesch-Barnea.	2 It is eleven days' journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-Barnea.
3 Es war im vierzigsten Jahr, im elften Monat, am ersten Tag des Monats. Mose sagte den Israeliten genau das, was ihm der Herr für sie aufgetragen hatte.	3 It was in the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, that Moses told the Israeliteseverything that Yahweh had ordered him to tel them.
4 Nachdem er Sihon, den König der Amoriter, der in Heschbon seinen Sitz hatte, und Og, den König des Baschan, der in Aschtarot seinen Sitz hatte, bei Edreï geschlagen hatte,	4 He had defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who livedat Ashtaroth and Edrei.
5 begann Mose jenseits des Jordan im Land Moab, diese Weisung aufzuschreiben. Er sagte:	5 There, in Moab beyond the Jordan, Moses resolved to expound this Law. He said:
6 Der Herr, unser Gott, hat am Horeb zu uns gesagt: Ihr habt euch lange genug an diesem Berg aufgehalten.	6 'Yahweh our God said to us at Horeb, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain.
7 Nun wendet euch dem Bergland der Amoriter zu, brecht auf und zieht hinauf! Zieht aus gegen alle seine Bewohner in der Araba, auf dem Gebirge, in der Schefela, im Negeb und an der Meeresküste! Zieht in das Land der Kanaaniter und in das Gebiet des Libanon, bis an den großen Strom, den Eufrat!	7 Move on, continue your journey, go to the highlands of the Amorites, to al those who live in the Arabah,in the highlands, in the lowlands, in the Negeb and in the coastland; go into Canaan and to Lebanon as far asthe great River Euphrates.
8 Hiermit liefere ich euch das Land aus. Zieht hinein und nehmt es in Besitz, das Land, von dem ihr wisst: Der Herr hat euren Vätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen, es ihnen und später ihren Nachkommen zu geben.	8 Look, that is the country I have given you; go and take possession of the country that Yahweh promisedon oath to give to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and to their descendants after them."
9 Damals habe ich zu euch gesagt: Ich kann euch nicht allein tragen.	9 'At the same time, I told you, "I cannot be responsible for you by myself.
10 Der Herr, euer Gott, hat euch zahlreich gemacht. Ja, ihr seid heute schon so zahlreich wie die Sterne am Himmel.	10 Yahweh your God has increased your numbers, until you are now as numerous as the stars ofheaven.
11 Und der Herr, der Gott eurer Väter, lasse eure Zahl auf das Tausendfache wachsen und segne euch, wie er es euch versprochen hat.	11 And Yahweh your God is going to increase you a thousand times more, and bless you as he haspromised you.
12 Wie soll ich allein euch tragen: eure Bürde, eure Last, eure Rechtshändel?	12 So how can I cope by myself with the bitter burden that you are, and with your bickering?
13 Schlagt für jeden eurer Stämme weise, gebildete und bewährte Männer vor, damit ich sie als eure Führer einsetze.	13 From each of your tribes pick wise, shrewd and experienced men for me to make your leaders."
14 Ihr habt mir geantwortet: Das ist ein guter Vorschlag. Führ ihn aus!	14 You replied, "Your plan is good."
15 Also habe ich die Führer eurer Stämme, weise und bewährte Männer, genommen und sie zu euren Führern ernannt: als Anführer für je tausend, Anführer für je hundert, Anführer für je fünfzig, Anführer für je zehn, und als Listenführer, für jeden eurer Stämme.	15 So I took your tribal leaders, wise, experienced men, and appointed them to lead you, as captains ofthousands, hundreds, fifties, tens, and as scribes for your tribes.
16 Damals habe ich eure Richter verpflichtet: Lasst jeden Streit zwischen euren Brüdern vor euch kommen. Entscheidet gerecht, sei es der Streit eines Mannes mit einem Bruder oder mit einem Fremden.	16 At that same time I told your judges, "You must give your brothers a fair hearing and see justice donebetween one person and his brother or the foreigner living with him.
17 Kennt vor Gericht kein Ansehen der Person! Klein wie Groß hört an! Fürchtet euch nicht vor angesehenen Leuten; denn das Gericht hat mit Gott zu tun. Und ist euch eine Sache zu schwierig, legt sie mir vor; dann werde ich sie anhören.	17 You must be impartial in judgement and give an equal hearing to small and great alike. Do not beafraid of any human person, for the verdict is God's. Should a case be too difficult, bring it for me to hear.
18 Damals habe ich euch alle Vorschriften gegeben, nach denen ihr handeln sollt.	18 And on that occasion I gave you instructions about everything you were to do."
19 Dann brachen wir auf, verließen den Horeb und wanderten durch diese ganze große und Furcht erregende Wüste - ihr habt sie erlebt - auf dem Weg zum Amoriterbergland, wie es uns der Herr, unser Gott, befohlen hatte. Wir kamen bis Kadesch-Barnea.	19 'So, as Yahweh our God had ordered, we left Horeb and made our way through that vast and terribledesert, which you saw on the way to the Amorite highlands, and arrived at Kadesh-Barnea.
20 Dort sagte ich zu euch: Nun seid ihr am Bergland der Amoriter angekommen, das der Herr, unser Gott, uns gibt.	20 I then said, "You have now reached the Amorite highlands, which Yahweh our God has given us.
21 Sieh, der Herr, dein Gott, hat dir das Land ausgeliefert. Zieh hinauf und nimm es in Besitz, wie der Herr, der Gott deiner Väter, es dir befohlen hat. Fürchte dich nicht und hab keine Angst!	21 Look, Yahweh your God has given you this country. March in, take possession of it as Yahweh, theGod of your ancestors, has said; do not be afraid or discouraged."
22 Da seid ihr zu mir gekommen, ihr alle, und habt gesagt: Wir wollen einige Männer vorausschicken. Sie sollen uns das Land auskundschaften und uns Bericht erstatten über den Weg, den wir hinaufziehen, und über die Städte, auf die wir treffen werden.	22 Then you al came to me and said, "Let us send men ahead of us to explore the country; they shalreport to us which way we ought to take and what towns we shal come to."
23 Der Vorschlag erschien mir gut. Ich wählte unter euch zwölf Männer aus, für jeden Stamm einen.	23 This seemed good advice to me and I selected twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.
24 Sie wendeten sich dem Bergland zu, zogen hinauf, gelangten bis zum Traubental und erkundeten es.	24 These men made towards the highlands and went up into them; they reached the Val ey of Eshcol andreconnoitred it.
25 Sie pflückten einige von den Früchten des Landes, brachten sie zu uns herab und erstatteten uns Bericht. Sie sagten: Das Land, das der Herr, unser Gott, uns gibt, ist prächtig.	25 They col ected some of the produce of the country and brought it down to us; and they made us thisreport, "Yahweh our God has given us a fine country."
26 Doch ihr habt euch geweigert hinaufzuziehen. Ihr habt euch dem Befehl des Herrn, eures Gottes, widersetzt	26 You, however, refused to go up there and rebelled against the voice of Yahweh your God.
27 und habt in euren Zelten gemurrt. Ihr habt gesagt: Weil er uns hasst, hat der Herr uns aus Ägypten geführt. Er will uns in die Gewalt der Amoriter geben, um uns zu vernichten.	27 You muttered in your tents, saying, "Yahweh hates us, and that is why he has brought us out of Egypt,to put us into the Amorites' power and so destroy us.
28 Wohin geraten wir, wenn wir hinaufziehen? Unsere Brüder haben uns den Mut genommen, als sie berichteten: Ein Volk, größer und zahlreicher als wir, Städte, groß, mit himmelhohen Mauern. Sogar Anakiter haben wir dort gesehen.	28 What kind of place are we making for? Our brothers have discouraged us by saying that the peopleare stronger and tal er than we are, the cities immense, with wal s reaching to the sky. And we have seenAnakim there too."
29 Da habe ich zu euch gesagt: Ihr dürft nicht vor ihnen zurückweichen und dürft euch nicht vor ihnen fürchten.	29 'And I said to you, "Do not take fright, do not be afraid of them.
30 Der Herr, euer Gott, der euch vorangeht, wird für euch kämpfen, genau so, wie er vor euren Augen in Ägypten auf eurer Seite gekämpft hat.	30 Yahweh your God goes ahead of you and wil be fighting on your side, just as you saw him act inEgypt.
31 Das Gleiche tat er in der Wüste, du hast es selbst erlebt. Da hat der Herr, dein Gott, dich auf dem ganzen Weg, den ihr gewandert seid, getragen, wie ein Vater seinen Sohn trägt, bis ihr an diesen Ort kamt.	31 You have seen him in the desert too: Yahweh your God continued to support you, as a man supportshis son, al along the road you followed until you arrived here."
32 Trotzdem habt ihr nicht an den Herrn, euren Gott, geglaubt,	32 But for al this, you put no faith in Yahweh your God,
33 der euch auf dem Weg vorangegangen war, um euch die Stelle für das Lager zu suchen. Bei Nacht ging er im Feuer voran, um euch den Weg zu zeigen, auf dem ihr gehen solltet, bei Tag in der Wolke.	33 going ahead of you on the journey to find you a camping ground, by night in the fire to light your path,and in the cloud by day.
34 Der Herr hörte euer lautes Murren, wurde unwillig und schwor:	34 'Yahweh heard what you were saying and in his anger swore this oath,
35 Kein einziger von diesen Männern, von dieser verdorbenen Generation, soll das prächtige Land sehen, von dem ihr wisst: Ich habe geschworen, es euren Vätern zu geben.	35 "Not one of these people, this perverse generation, will see the fine country I swore to give yourancestors,
36 Nur Kaleb, der Sohn Jefunnes, wird es sehen. Ihm und seinen Söhnen werde ich das Land geben, das er betreten hat. Denn er ist dem Herrn ganz und gar nachgefolgt.	36 except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He wil see it. To him and to his children I shal give the land he hasset foot on, for he has been perfectly obedient to Yahweh."
37 Auch mir grollte der Herr euretwegen und sagte: Auch du sollst nicht in das Land hineinkommen.	37 Yahweh was angry with me too, because of you. "You wil not go in either," he said.
38 Josua, der Sohn Nuns, dein Gehilfe, wird hineinkommen. Verleih ihm Macht: Er soll das Land an Israel als Erbbesitz verteilen.	38 "Your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will be the one to enter. Encourage him, since he is to bring Israelinto possession of the country.
39 Und eure Kleinen, von denen ihr sagt: Zur Beute werden sie!, und eure Kinder, die heute noch nichts von Gut und Böse wissen, sie werden in das Land hineinkommen. Ihnen gebe ich es und sie nehmen es dann auch in Besitz.	39 And your little ones too, who, you said, would be seized as booty, these children of yours who do notyet know good from evil, they wil go in; I shall give it to them and they wil own it.
40 Ihr aber, wendet euch zur Wüste, brecht auf und nehmt den Weg zum Schilfmeer!	40 But, as regards yourselves, turn round, go back into the desert, towards the Sea of Suph."
41 Ihr habt mir darauf erwidert: Wir haben vor dem Herrn gesündigt. Doch jetzt wollen wir hinaufziehen und kämpfen, genau so, wie es uns der Herr, unser Gott, befohlen hat. Und jeder legte die Waffen an und gürtete sich, um ins Bergland zu ziehen.	41 'In reply, you then said to me, "We have sinned against Yahweh our God. We shall go up and fight justas Yahweh our God has ordered us." And each one of you buckled on his arms and equipped himself to marchup into the highlands.
42 Doch der Herr sprach zu mir: Sag ihnen: Ihr sollt nicht hinaufziehen und nicht kämpfen; denn ich bin nicht in eurer Mitte. Ich will nicht, dass eure Feinde euch niederstoßen.	42 But Yahweh said to me, "Tel them this: Do not go up and fight. I am not with you. Do not letyourselves be defeated by your enemies."
43 Ich habe euch zugeredet, doch ihr habt nicht gehört. Ihr habt euch dem Befehl des Herrn widersetzt. In eurer Vermessenheit seid ihr ins Bergland gezogen.	43 So I told you, but you would not listen, and you rebel ed against the voice of Yahweh; presumptuouslyyou marched into the highlands.
44 Da rückten die Amoriter, die dort im Bergland wohnen, gegen euch aus. Sie verfolgten euch wie ein Bienenschwarm und versprengten euch in Seïr bis nach Horma hin.	44 The Amorites, who live in that country of hil s, came swarming out against you like bees, pursued youand beat you from Seir to Hormah.
45 Als ihr zurückkamt, weintet ihr vor dem Herrn. Doch er hat auf eure Klagen nicht gehört und hatte kein Ohr mehr für euch.	45 On your return, you wept in Yahweh's presence, but he would not listen to your cries or pay attention.
46 Dann hieltet ihr euch lange in Kadesch auf - die ganze Zeit, die ihr dort geblieben seid.	46 That was why you had to stay at Kadesh as long as you did.'
