1 Dann rief er die Zwölf zu sich und gab ihnen die Kraft und die Vollmacht, alle Dämonen auszutreiben und die Kranken gesund zu machen.	1 Then calling together the twelve Apostles, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.
2 Und er sandte sie aus mit dem Auftrag, das Reich Gottes zu verkünden und zu heilen.	2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the infirm.
3 Er sagte zu ihnen: Nehmt nichts mit auf den Weg, keinen Wanderstab und keine Vorratstasche, kein Brot, kein Geld und kein zweites Hemd.	3 And he said to them: “You should take nothing for the journey, neither staff, nor traveling bag, nor bread, nor money; and you should not have two tunics.
4 Bleibt in dem Haus, in dem ihr einkehrt, bis ihr den Ort wieder verlasst.	4 And into whatever house you shall enter, lodge there, and do not move away from there.
5 Wenn euch aber die Leute in einer Stadt nicht aufnehmen wollen, dann geht weg und schüttelt den Staub von euren Füßen, zum Zeugnis gegen sie.	5 And whoever will not have received you, upon departing from that city, shake off even the dust on your feet, as a testimony against them.”
6 Die Zwölf machten sich auf den Weg und wanderten von Dorf zu Dorf. Sie verkündeten das Evangelium und heilten überall die Kranken.	6 And going forth, they traveled around, through the towns, evangelizing and curing everywhere.
7 Der Tetrarch Herodes hörte von allem, was geschah, und wusste nicht, was er davon halten sollte. Denn manche sagten: Johannes ist von den Toten auferstanden.	7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all the things that were being done by him, but he doubted, because it was said
8 Andere meinten: Elija ist wiedererschienen. Wieder andere: Einer der alten Propheten ist auferstanden.	8 by some, “For John has risen from the dead,” yet truly, by others, “For Elijah has appeared,” and by still others, “For one of the prophets from of old has risen again.”
9 Herodes aber sagte: Johannes habe ich selbst enthaupten lassen. Wer ist dann dieser Mann, von dem man mir solche Dinge erzählt? Und er hatte den Wunsch, ihn einmal zu sehen.	9 And Herod said: “I beheaded John. So then, who is this, about whom I hear such things?” And he sought to see him.
10 Die Apostel kamen zurück und erzählten Jesus alles, was sie getan hatten. Dann nahm er sie beiseite und zog sich in die Nähe der Stadt Betsaida zurück, um mit ihnen allein zu sein.	10 And when the Apostles returned, they explained to him all the things that they had done. And taking them with him, he withdrew to a deserted place apart, which belongs to Bethsaida.
11 Aber die Leute erfuhren davon und folgten ihm. Er empfing sie freundlich, redete zu ihnen vom Reich Gottes und heilte alle, die seine Hilfe brauchten.	11 But when the crowd had realized this, they followed him. And he received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God. And those who were in need of cures, he healed.
12 Als der Tag zur Neige ging, kamen die Zwölf zu ihm und sagten: Schick die Menschen weg, damit sie in die umliegenden Dörfer und Gehöfte gehen, dort Unterkunft finden und etwas zu essen bekommen; denn wir sind hier an einem abgelegenen Ort.	12 Then the day began to decline. And drawing near, the twelve said to him: “Dismiss the crowds, so that, by going into the surrounding towns and villages, they may separate and find food. For we are here in a deserted place.”
13 Er antwortete: Gebt ihr ihnen zu essen! Sie sagten: Wir haben nicht mehr als fünf Brote und zwei Fische; wir müssten erst weggehen und für all diese Leute Essen kaufen.	13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “There is with us no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we are to go and buy food for this entire multitude.”
14 Es waren etwa fünftausend Männer. Er erwiderte seinen Jüngern: Sagt ihnen, sie sollen sich in Gruppen zu ungefähr fünfzig zusammensetzen.	14 Now there were about five thousand men. So he said to his disciples, “Have them recline to eat in groups of fifty.”
15 Die Jünger taten, was er ihnen sagte, und veranlassten, dass sich alle setzten.	15 And they did so. And they caused them all to recline to eat.
16 Jesus aber nahm die fünf Brote und die zwei Fische, blickte zum Himmel auf, segnete sie und brach sie; dann gab er sie den Jüngern, damit sie diese an die Leute austeilten.	16 Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish, he gazed up to heaven, and he blessed and broke and distributed them to his disciples, in order to set them before the crowd.
17 Und alle aßen und wurden satt. Als man die übrig gebliebenen Brotstücke einsammelte, waren es zwölf Körbe voll.	17 And they all ate and were satisfied. And twelve baskets of fragments were taken up, which were left over from them.
18 Jesus betete einmal in der Einsamkeit, und die Jünger waren bei ihm. Da fragte er sie: Für wen halten mich die Leute?	18 And it happened that, when he was praying alone, his disciples also were with him, and he questioned them, saying: “Who do the multitudes say that I am?”
19 Sie antworteten: Einige für Johannes den Täufer, andere für Elija; wieder andere sagen: Einer der alten Propheten ist auferstanden.	19 But they answered by saying: “John the Baptist. But some say Elijah. Yet truly, others say that one of the prophets from before has risen again.”
20 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Ihr aber, für wen haltet ihr mich? Petrus antwortete: Für den Messias Gottes.	20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” In response, Simon Peter said, “The Christ of God.”
21 Doch er verbot ihnen streng, es jemand weiterzusagen.	21 But speaking sharply to them, he instructed them not to tell this to anyone,
22 Und er fügte hinzu: Der Menschensohn muss vieles erleiden und von den Ältesten, den Hohenpriestern und den Schriftgelehrten verworfen werden; er wird getötet werden, aber am dritten Tag wird er auferstehen. 10,32-34	22 saying, “For the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the leaders of the priests and the scribes, and be killed, and on the third day rise again.”
23 Zu allen sagte er: Wer mein Jünger sein will, der verleugne sich selbst, nehme täglich sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach.	23 Then he said to everyone: “If anyone is willing to come after me: let him deny himself, and take up his cross every day, and follow me.
24 Denn wer sein Leben retten will, wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben um meinetwillen verliert, der wird es retten.	24 For whoever will have saved his life, will lose it. Yet whoever will have lost his life for my sake, will save it.
25 Was nützt es einem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewinnt, dabei aber sich selbst verliert und Schaden nimmt?	25 For how does it benefit a man, if he were to gain the whole world, yet lose himself, or cause himself harm?
26 Denn wer sich meiner und meiner Worte schämt, dessen wird sich der Menschensohn schämen, wenn er in seiner Hoheit kommt und in der Hoheit des Vaters und der heiligen Engel.	26 For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words: of him the Son of man will be ashamed, when he will have arrived in his majesty and that of his Father and of the holy Angels.
27 Wahrhaftig, das sage ich euch: Von denen, die hier stehen, werden einige den Tod nicht erleiden, bis sie das Reich Gottes gesehen haben.	27 And yet, I tell you a truth: There are some standing here who shall not taste death, until they see the kingdom of God.”
28 Etwa acht Tage nach diesen Reden nahm Jesus Petrus, Johannes und Jakobus beiseite und stieg mit ihnen auf einen Berg, um zu beten.	28 And it happened that, about eight days after these words, he took Peter and James and John, and he ascended onto a mountain, so that he might pray.
29 Und während er betete, veränderte sich das Aussehen seines Gesichtes und sein Gewand wurde leuchtend weiß.	29 And while he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his vestment became white and shining.
30 Und plötzlich redeten zwei Männer mit ihm. Es waren Mose und Elija;	30 And behold, two men were talking with him. And these were Moses and Elijah, appearing in majesty.
31 sie erschienen in strahlendem Licht und sprachen von seinem Ende, das sich in Jerusalem erfüllen sollte.	31 And they spoke of his departure, which he would accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 Petrus und seine Begleiter aber waren eingeschlafen, wurden jedoch wach und sahen Jesus in strahlendem Licht und die zwei Männer, die bei ihm standen.	32 Yet truly, Peter and those who were with him were weighed down by sleep. And becoming alert, they saw his majesty and the two men who were standing with him.
33 Als die beiden sich von ihm trennen wollten, sagte Petrus zu Jesus: Meister, es ist gut, dass wir hier sind. Wir wollen drei Hütten bauen, eine für dich, eine für Mose und eine für Elija. Er wusste aber nicht, was er sagte.	33 And it happened that, as these were departing from him, Peter said to Jesus: “Teacher, it is good for us to be here. And so, let us make three tabernacles: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what he was saying.
34 Während er noch redete, kam eine Wolke und warf ihren Schatten auf sie. Sie gerieten in die Wolke hinein und bekamen Angst.	34 Then, as he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them. And as these were entering into the cloud, they were afraid.
35 Da rief eine Stimme aus der Wolke: Das ist mein auserwählter Sohn, auf ihn sollt ihr hören.	35 And a voice came from the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved son. Listen to him.”
36 Als aber die Stimme erklang, war Jesus wieder allein. Die Jünger schwiegen jedoch über das, was sie gesehen hatten, und erzählten in jenen Tagen niemand davon.	36 And while the voice was being uttered, Jesus was found to be alone. And they were silent and told no one, in those days, any of these things, which they had seen.
37 Als sie am folgenden Tag den Berg hinabstiegen, kam ihnen eine große Menschenmenge entgegen.	37 But it happened on the following day that, as they were descending from the mountain, a great crowd met him.
38 Da schrie ein Mann aus der Menge: Meister, ich bitte dich, hilf meinem Sohn! Es ist mein einziger.	38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you, look kindly on my son, for he is my only son.
39 Er ist von einem Geist besessen; plötzlich schreit er auf, wird hin und her gezerrt und Schaum tritt ihm vor den Mund, und der Geist quält ihn fast unaufhörlich.	39 And behold, a spirit takes hold of him, and he suddenly cries out, and it throws him down and convulses him, so that he foams. And though it tears him apart, it leaves him only with difficulty.
40 Ich habe schon deine Jünger gebeten ihn auszutreiben, aber sie konnten es nicht.	40 And I asked your disciples to cast him out, and they were unable.”
41 Da sagte Jesus: O du ungläubige und unbelehrbare Generation! Wie lange muss ich noch bei euch sein und euch ertragen? Bring deinen Sohn her!	41 And in response, Jesus said: “O unfaithful and perverse generation! How long will I be with you and endure you? Bring your son here.”
42 Als der Sohn herkam, warf der Dämon ihn zu Boden und zerrte ihn hin und her. Jesus aber drohte dem unreinen Geist, heilte den Jungen und gab ihn seinem Vater zurück.	42 And as he was approaching him, the demon threw him down and convulsed him.
43 aUnd alle gerieten außer sich über die Macht und Größe Gottes. Alle Leute staunten über das, was Jesus tat; er aber sagte zu seinen Jüngern:	43 And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and he healed the boy, and he restored him to his father.
44 Merkt euch genau, was ich jetzt sage: Der Menschensohn wird den Menschen ausgeliefert werden.	44 And all were astonished at the greatness of God. And as everyone was wondering over all that he was doing, he said to his disciples: “You must set these words in your hearts. For it shall be that the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men.”
45 Doch die Jünger verstanden den Sinn seiner Worte nicht; er blieb ihnen verborgen, sodass sie ihn nicht begriffen. Aber sie scheuten sich, Jesus zu fragen, was er damit sagen wollte.	45 But they did not understood this word, and it was concealed from them, so that they did not perceive it. And they were afraid to question him about this word.
46 Unter den Jüngern kam die Frage auf, wer von ihnen der Größte sei.	46 Now an idea entered into them, as to which of them was greater.
47 Jesus wusste, was in ihrem Herzen vorging. Deshalb nahm er ein Kind, stellte es neben sich	47 But Jesus, perceiving the thoughts of their hearts, took a child and stood him beside him.
48 und sagte zu ihnen: Wer dieses Kind um meinetwillen aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf; wer aber mich aufnimmt, der nimmt den auf, der mich gesandt hat. Denn wer unter euch allen der Kleinste ist, der ist groß.	48 And he said to them: “Whoever will receive this child in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives him who sent me. For whoever is the lesser among you all, the same is greater.”
49 Da sagte Johannes: Meister, wir haben gesehen, wie jemand in deinem Namen Dämonen austrieb, und wir versuchten, ihn daran zu hindern, weil er nicht mit uns zusammen dir nachfolgt.	49 And responding, John said: “Teacher, we saw a certain one casting out demons in your name. And we prohibited him, for he does not follow with us.”
50 Jesus antwortete ihm: Hindert ihn nicht! Denn wer nicht gegen euch ist, der ist für euch.	50 And Jesus said to him: “Do not prohibit him. For whoever is not against you, is for you.”
51 Als die Zeit herankam, in der er (in den Himmel) aufgenommen werden sollte, entschloss sich Jesus, nach Jerusalem zu gehen.	51 Now it happened that, while the days of his dissipation were being completed, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.
52 Und er schickte Boten vor sich her. Diese kamen in ein samaritisches Dorf und wollten eine Unterkunft für ihn besorgen.	52 And he sent messengers before his face. And going on, they entered into a city of the Samaritans, to prepare for him.
53 Aber man nahm ihn nicht auf, weil er auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem war.	53 And they would not receive him, because his face was going toward Jerusalem.
54 Als die Jünger Jakobus und Johannes das sahen, sagten sie: Herr, sollen wir befehlen, dass Feuer vom Himmel fällt und sie vernichtet?	54 And when his disciples, James and John, had seen this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call for fire to descend from heaven and consume them?”
55 Da wandte er sich um und wies sie zurecht.	55 And turning, he rebuked them, saying: “Do you not know of whose spirit you are?
56 Und sie gingen zusammen in ein anderes Dorf.	56 The Son of man came, not to destroy lives, but to save them.” And they went into another town.
57 Als sie auf ihrem Weg weiterzogen, redete ein Mann Jesus an und sagte: Ich will dir folgen, wohin du auch gehst.	57 And it happened that, as they were walking along the way, someone said to him, “I will follow you, wherever you will go.”
58 Jesus antwortete ihm: Die Füchse haben ihre Höhlen und die Vögel ihre Nester; der Menschensohn aber hat keinen Ort, wo er sein Haupt hinlegen kann.	58 Jesus said to him: “Foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have nests. But the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.”
59 Zu einem anderen sagte er: Folge mir nach! Der erwiderte: Lass mich zuerst heimgehen und meinen Vater begraben.	59 Then he said to another, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
60 Jesus sagte zu ihm: Lass die Toten ihre Toten begraben; du aber geh und verkünde das Reich Gottes!	60 And Jesus said to him: “Let the dead bury their dead. But you go and announce the kingdom of God.”
61 Wieder ein anderer sagte: Ich will dir nachfolgen, Herr. Zuvor aber lass mich von meiner Familie Abschied nehmen.	61 And another said: “I will follow you, Lord. But permit me first to explain this to those of my house.”
62 Jesus erwiderte ihm: Keiner, der die Hand an den Pflug gelegt hat und nochmals zurückblickt, taugt für das Reich Gottes.	62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow, and then looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
