1 Am ersten Tag der Woche gingen die Frauen mit den wohlriechenden Salben, die sie zubereitet hatten, in aller Frühe zum Grab.	1 Then, on the first Sabbath, at very first light, they went to the tomb, carrying the aromatic spices that they had prepared.
2 Da sahen sie, dass der Stein vom Grab weggewälzt war;	2 And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb.
3 sie gingen hinein, aber den Leichnam Jesu, des Herrn, fanden sie nicht.	3 And upon entering, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 Während sie ratlos dastanden, traten zwei Männer in leuchtenden Gewändern zu ihnen.	4 And it happened that, while their minds were still confused about this, behold, two men stood beside them, in shining apparel.
5 Die Frauen erschraken und blickten zu Boden. Die Männer aber sagten zu ihnen: Was sucht ihr den Lebenden bei den Toten?	5 Then, since they were afraid and were turning their faces toward the ground, these two said to them: “Why do you seek the living with the dead?
6 Er ist nicht hier, sondern er ist auferstanden. Erinnert euch an das, was er euch gesagt hat, als er noch in Galiläa war:	6 He is not here, for he has risen. Recall how he spoke to you, when he was still in Galilee,
7 Der Menschensohn muss den Sündern ausgeliefert und gekreuzigt werden und am dritten Tag auferstehen.	7 saying: ‘For the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’ ”
8 Da erinnerten sie sich an seine Worte.	8 And they called to mind his words.
9 Und sie kehrten vom Grab in die Stadt zurück und berichteten alles den Elf und den anderen Jüngern.	9 And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven, and to all the others.
10 Es waren Maria Magdalene, Johanna und Maria, die Mutter des Jakobus; auch die übrigen Frauen, die bei ihnen waren, erzählten es den Aposteln.	10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women who were with them, who told these things to the Apostles.
11 Doch die Apostel hielten das alles für Geschwätz und glaubten ihnen nicht.	11 But these words seemed to them a delusion. And so they did not believe them.
12 Petrus aber stand auf und lief zum Grab. Er beugte sich vor, sah aber nur die Leinenbinden (dort liegen). Dann ging er nach Hause, voll Verwunderung über das, was geschehen war.	12 But Peter, rising up, ran to the tomb. And stooping down, he saw the linen cloths positioned alone, and he went away wondering to himself about what had happened.
13 Am gleichen Tag waren zwei von den Jüngern auf dem Weg in ein Dorf namens Emmaus, das sechzig Stadien von Jerusalem entfernt ist.	13 And behold, two of them went out, on the same day, to a town named Emmaus, which was the distance of sixty stadia from Jerusalem.
14 Sie sprachen miteinander über all das, was sich ereignet hatte.	14 And they spoke to one another about all of these things that had occurred.
15 Während sie redeten und ihre Gedanken austauschten, kam Jesus hinzu und ging mit ihnen.	15 And it happened that, while they were speculating and questioning within themselves, Jesus himself, drawing near, traveled with them.
16 Doch sie waren wie mit Blindheit geschlagen, sodass sie ihn nicht erkannten.	16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they would not recognize him.
17 Er fragte sie: Was sind das für Dinge, über die ihr auf eurem Weg miteinander redet? Da blieben sie traurig stehen,	17 And he said to them, “What are these words, which you are discussing with one another, as you walk and are sad?”
18 und der eine von ihnen - er hieß Kleopas - antwortete ihm: Bist du so fremd in Jerusalem, dass du als einziger nicht weißt, was in diesen Tagen dort geschehen ist?	18 And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, responded by saying to him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19 Er fragte sie: Was denn? Sie antworteten ihm: Das mit Jesus aus Nazaret. Er war ein Prophet, mächtig in Wort und Tat vor Gott und dem ganzen Volk.	19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said, “About Jesus of Nazareth, who was a noble prophet, powerful in works and in words, before God and all the people.
20 Doch unsere Hohenpriester und Führer haben ihn zum Tod verurteilen und ans Kreuz schlagen lassen.	20 And how our high priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death. And they crucified him.
21 Wir aber hatten gehofft, dass er der sei, der Israel erlösen werde. Und dazu ist heute schon der dritte Tag, seitdem das alles geschehen ist.	21 But we were hoping that he would be the Redeemer of Israel. And now, on top of all this, today is the third day since these things have happened.
22 Aber nicht nur das: Auch einige Frauen aus unserem Kreis haben uns in große Aufregung versetzt. Sie waren in der Frühe beim Grab,	22 Then, too, certain women from among us terrified us. For before daytime, they were at the tomb,
23 fanden aber seinen Leichnam nicht. Als sie zurückkamen, erzählten sie, es seien ihnen Engel erschienen und hätten gesagt, er lebe.	23 and, having not found his body, they returned, saying that they had even seen a vision of Angels, who said that he is alive.
24 Einige von uns gingen dann zum Grab und fanden alles so, wie die Frauen gesagt hatten; ihn selbst aber sahen sie nicht.	24 And some of us went out to the tomb. And they found it just as the women had said. But truly, they did not find him.”
25 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Begreift ihr denn nicht? Wie schwer fällt es euch, alles zu glauben, was die Propheten gesagt haben.	25 And he said to them: “How foolish and reluctant in heart you are, to believe everything that has been spoken by the Prophets!
26 Musste nicht der Messias all das erleiden, um so in seine Herrlichkeit zu gelangen?	26 Was not the Christ required to suffer these things, and so enter into his glory?”
27 Und er legte ihnen dar, ausgehend von Mose und allen Propheten, was in der gesamten Schrift über ihn geschrieben steht.	27 And beginning from Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them, in all the Scriptures, the things that were about him.
28 So erreichten sie das Dorf, zu dem sie unterwegs waren. Jesus tat, als wolle er weitergehen,	28 And they drew near to the town were they were going. And he conducted himself so as to go on further.
29 aber sie drängten ihn und sagten: Bleib doch bei uns; denn es wird bald Abend, der Tag hat sich schon geneigt. Da ging er mit hinein, um bei ihnen zu bleiben.	29 But they were insistent with him, saying, “Remain with us, because it is toward evening and now daylight is declining.” And so he entered with them.
30 Und als er mit ihnen bei Tisch war, nahm er das Brot, sprach den Lobpreis, brach das Brot und gab es ihnen.	30 And it happened that, while he was at table with them, he took bread, and he blessed and broke it, and he extended it to them.
31 Da gingen ihnen die Augen auf und sie erkannten ihn; dann sahen sie ihn nicht mehr.	31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their eyes.
32 Und sie sagten zueinander: Brannte uns nicht das Herz in der Brust, als er unterwegs mit uns redete und uns den Sinn der Schrift erschloss?	32 And they said to one another, “Was not our heart burning within us, while he was speaking on the way, and when he opened the Scriptures to us?”
33 Noch in derselben Stunde brachen sie auf und kehrten nach Jerusalem zurück und sie fanden die Elf und die anderen Jünger versammelt.	33 And rising up at that same hour, they returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them,
34 Diese sagten: Der Herr ist wirklich auferstanden und ist dem Simon erschienen.	34 saying: “In truth, the Lord has risen, and he has appeared to Simon.”
35 Da erzählten auch sie, was sie unterwegs erlebt und wie sie ihn erkannt hatten, als er das Brot brach.	35 And they explained the things that were done on the way, and how they had recognized him at the breaking of the bread.
36 Während sie noch darüber redeten, trat er selbst in ihre Mitte und sagte zu ihnen: Friede sei mit euch!	36 Then, while they were talking about these things, Jesus stood in their midst, And he said to them: “Peace be with you. It is I. Do not be afraid.”
37 Sie erschraken und hatten große Angst, denn sie meinten, einen Geist zu sehen.	37 Yet truly, they were very disturbed and terrified, supposing that they saw a spirit.
38 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Was seid ihr so bestürzt? Warum lasst ihr in eurem Herzen solche Zweifel aufkommen?	38 And he said to them: “Why are you disturbed, and why do these thoughts rise up in your hearts?
39 Seht meine Hände und meine Füße an: Ich bin es selbst. Fasst mich doch an und begreift: Kein Geist hat Fleisch und Knochen, wie ihr es bei mir seht.	39 See my hands and feet, that it is I myself. Look and touch. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”
40 Bei diesen Worten zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und Füße.	40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41 Sie staunten, konnten es aber vor Freude immer noch nicht glauben. Da sagte er zu ihnen: Habt ihr etwas zu essen hier?	41 Then, while they were still in disbelief and in wonder out of joy, he said, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42 Sie gaben ihm ein Stück gebratenen Fisch;	42 And they offered him a piece of roasted fish and a honeycomb.
43 er nahm es und aß es vor ihren Augen.	43 And when he had eaten these in their sight, taking up what was left, he gave it to them.
44 Dann sprach er zu ihnen: Das sind die Worte, die ich zu euch gesagt habe, als ich noch bei euch war: Alles muss in Erfüllung gehen, was im Gesetz des Mose, bei den Propheten und in den Psalmen über mich gesagt ist.	44 And he said to them: “These are the words that I spoke to you when I was still with you, because all things must be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms about me.”
45 Darauf öffnete er ihnen die Augen für das Verständnis der Schrift.	45 Then he opened their mind, so that they might understand the Scriptures.
46 Er sagte zu ihnen: So steht es in der Schrift: Der Messias wird leiden und am dritten Tag von den Toten auferstehen,	46 And he said to them: “For so it is written, and so it was necessary, for the Christ to suffer and to rise up from the dead on the third day,
47 und in seinem Namen wird man allen Völkern, angefangen in Jerusalem, verkünden, sie sollen umkehren, damit ihre Sünden vergeben werden.	47 and, in his name, for repentance and the remission of sins to be preached, among all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 Ihr seid Zeugen dafür.	48 And you are witnesses of these things.
49 Und ich werde die Gabe, die mein Vater verheißen hat, zu euch herabsenden. Bleibt in der Stadt, bis ihr mit der Kraft aus der Höhe erfüllt werdet.	49 And I am sending the Promise of my Father upon you. But you must stay in the city, until such time as you are clothed with power from on high.”
50 Dann führte er sie hinaus in die Nähe von Betanien. Dort erhob er seine Hände und segnete sie.	50 Then he led them out as far as Bethania. And lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
51 Und während er sie segnete, verließ er sie und wurde zum Himmel emporgehoben;	51 And it happened that, while he was blessing them, he withdrew from them, and he was carried up into heaven.
52 sie aber fielen vor ihm nieder. Dann kehrten sie in großer Freude nach Jerusalem zurück.	52 And worshiping, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
53 Und sie waren immer im Tempel und priesen Gott.	53 And they were always in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
