Matthäus 21

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Als sich Jesus mit seinen Begleitern Jerusalem näherte und nach Betfage am Ölberg kam, schickte er zwei Jünger voraus	1 When they were near Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, then Jesus senttwo disciples,
2 und sagte zu ihnen: Geht in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt; dort werdet ihr eine Eselin angebunden finden und ein Fohlen bei ihr. Bindet sie los und bringt sie zu mir!	2 saying to them, 'Go to the village facing you, and you wil at once find a tethered donkey and a coltwith her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 Und wenn euch jemand zur Rede stellt, dann sagt: Der Herr braucht sie, er lässt sie aber bald zurückbringen.	3 If anyone says anything to you, you are to say, "The Master needs them and wil send them back atonce." '
4 Das ist geschehen, damit sich erfüllte, was durch den Propheten gesagt worden ist:	4 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet:
5 Sagt der Tochter Zion: Siehe, dein König kommt zu dir. Er ist friedfertig und er reitet auf einer Eselin und auf einem Fohlen, dem Jungen eines Lasttiers.	5 Say to the daughter of Zion: Look, your king is approaching, humble and riding on a donkey and on acolt, the foal of a beast of burden.
6 Die Jünger gingen und taten, was Jesus ihnen aufgetragen hatte.	6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus had told them.
7 Sie brachten die Eselin und das Fohlen, legten ihre Kleider auf sie, und er setzte sich darauf.	7 They brought the donkey and the colt, then they laid their cloaks on their backs and he took his seaton them.
8 Viele Menschen breiteten ihre Kleider auf der Straße aus, andere schnitten Zweige von den Bäumen und streuten sie auf den Weg.	8 Great crowds of people spread their cloaks on the road, while others were cutting branches from thetrees and spreading them in his path.
9 Die Leute aber, die vor ihm hergingen und die ihm folgten, riefen: Hosanna dem Sohn Davids! Gesegnet sei er, der kommt im Namen des Herrn. Hosanna in der Höhe!	9 The crowds who went in front of him and those who fol owed were al shouting: Hosanna to the son ofDavid! Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heavens!
10 Als er in Jerusalem einzog, geriet die ganze Stadt in Aufregung, und man fragte: Wer ist das?	10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil as people asked, 'Who is this?'
11 Die Leute sagten: Das ist der Prophet Jesus von Nazaret in Galiläa.	11 and the crowds answered, 'This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.'
12 Jesus ging in den Tempel und trieb alle Händler und Käufer aus dem Tempel hinaus; er stieß die Tische der Geldwechsler und die Stände der Taubenhändler um	12 Jesus then went into the Temple and drove out al those who were selling and buying there; he upsetthe tables of the money-changers and the seats of the dove-sel ers.
13 und sagte: In der Schrift steht: Mein Haus soll ein Haus des Gebetes sein. Ihr aber macht daraus eine Räuberhöhle.	13 He said to them, 'According to scripture, my house wil be cal ed a house of prayer; but you areturning it into a bandits' den.'
14 Im Tempel kamen Lahme und Blinde zu ihm und er heilte sie.	14 There were also blind and lame people who came to him in the Temple, and he cured them.
15 Als nun die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten die Wunder sahen, die er tat, und die Kinder im Tempel rufen hörten: Hosanna dem Sohn Davids!, da wurden sie ärgerlich	15 At the sight of the wonderful things he did and of the children shouting, 'Hosanna to the son of David'in the Temple, the chief priests and the scribes were indignant and said to him,
16 und sagten zu ihm: Hörst du, was sie rufen? Jesus antwortete ihnen: Ja, ich höre es. Habt ihr nie gelesen: Aus dem Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge schaffst du dir Lob?	16 'Do you hear what they are saying?' Jesus answered, 'Yes. Have you never read this: By the mouthsof children, babes in arms, you have made sure of praise?'
17 Und er ließ sie stehen und ging aus der Stadt hinaus nach Betanien; dort übernachtete er.	17 With that he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
18 Als er am Morgen in die Stadt zurückkehrte, hatte er Hunger.	18 As he was returning to the city in the early morning, he felt hungry.
19 Da sah er am Weg einen Feigenbaum und ging auf ihn zu, fand aber nur Blätter daran. Da sagte er zu ihm: In Ewigkeit soll keine Frucht mehr an dir wachsen. Und der Feigenbaum verdorrte auf der Stelle.	19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it and found nothing on it but leaves. And he said to it,'May you never bear fruit again,' and instantly the fig tree withered.
20 Als die Jünger das sahen, fragten sie erstaunt: Wie konnte der Feigenbaum so plötzlich verdorren?	20 The disciples were amazed when they saw it and said, 'How is it that the fig tree withered instantly?'
21 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Amen, das sage ich euch: Wenn ihr Glauben habt und nicht zweifelt, dann werdet ihr nicht nur das vollbringen, was ich mit dem Feigenbaum getan habe; selbst wenn ihr zu diesem Berg sagt: Heb dich empor und stürz dich ins Meer!, wird es geschehen.	21 Jesus answered, 'In truth I tel you, if you have faith and do not doubt at all, not only wil you do what Ihave done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, "Be pul ed up and thrown into the sea," it will be done.
22 Und alles, was ihr im Gebet erbittet, werdet ihr erhalten, wenn ihr glaubt.	22 And if you have faith, everything you ask for in prayer, you wil receive.'
23 Als er in den Tempel ging und dort lehrte, kamen die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten des Volkes zu ihm und fragten: Mit welchem Recht tust du das alles? Wer hat dir dazu die Vollmacht gegeben?	23 He had gone into the Temple and was teaching, when the chief priests and the elders of the peoplecame to him and said, 'What authority have you for acting like this? And who gave you this authority?'
24 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Auch ich will euch eine Frage stellen. Wenn ihr mir darauf antwortet, dann werde ich euch sagen, mit welchem Recht ich das tue.	24 In reply Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; if you tell me the answer to it,then I wil tel you my authority for acting like this.
25 Woher stammte die Taufe des Johannes? Vom Himmel oder von den Menschen? Da überlegten sie und sagten zueinander: Wenn wir antworten: Vom Himmel!, so wird er zu uns sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?	25 John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human?' And they argued this way amongthemselves, 'If we say heavenly, he wil retort to us, "Then why did you refuse to believe him?";
26 Wenn wir aber antworten: Von den Menschen!, dann müssen wir uns vor den Leuten fürchten; denn alle halten Johannes für einen Propheten.	26 but if we say human, we have the people to fear, for they al hold that John was a prophet.'
27 Darum antworteten sie Jesus: Wir wissen es nicht. Da erwiderte er: Dann sage auch ich euch nicht, mit welchem Recht ich das alles tue.	27 So their reply to Jesus was, 'We do not know.' And he retorted to them, 'Nor wil I tel you my authorityfor acting like this.'
28 Was meint ihr? Ein Mann hatte zwei Söhne. Er ging zum ersten und sagte: Mein Sohn, geh und arbeite heute im Weinberg!	28 'What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He went and said to the first, "My boy, go and work inthe vineyard today."
29 Er antwortete: Ja, Herr!, ging aber nicht.	29 He answered, "I will not go," but afterwards thought better of it and went.
30 Da wandte er sich an den zweiten Sohn und sagte zu ihm dasselbe. Dieser antwortete: Ich will nicht. Später aber reute es ihn und er ging doch.	30 The man then went and said the same thing to the second who answered, "Certainly, sir," but did notgo.
31 Wer von den beiden hat den Willen seines Vaters erfüllt? Sie antworteten: Der zweite. Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Amen, das sage ich euch: Zöllner und Dirnen gelangen eher in das Reich Gottes als ihr.	31 Which of the two did the father's wil ?' They said, 'The first.' Jesus said to them, 'In truth I tel you, taxcol ectors and prostitutes are making their way into the kingdom of God before you.
32 Denn Johannes ist gekommen, um euch den Weg der Gerechtigkeit zu zeigen, und ihr habt ihm nicht geglaubt; aber die Zöllner und die Dirnen haben ihm geglaubt. Ihr habt es gesehen und doch habt ihr nicht bereut und ihm nicht geglaubt.	32 For John came to you, showing the way of uprightness, but you did not believe him, and yet the taxcol ectors and prostitutes did. Even after seeing that, you refused to think better of it and believe in him.
33 Hört noch ein anderes Gleichnis: Es war ein Gutsbesitzer, der legte einen Weinberg an, zog ringsherum einen Zaun, hob eine Kelter aus und baute einen Turm. Dann verpachtete er den Weinberg an Winzer und reiste in ein anderes Land.	33 'Listen to another parable. There was a man, a landowner, who planted a vineyard; he fenced itround, dug a winepress in it and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad.
34 Als nun die Erntezeit kam, schickte er seine Knechte zu den Winzern, um seinen Anteil an den Früchten holen zu lassen.	34 When vintage time drew near he sent his servants to the tenants to col ect his produce.
35 Die Winzer aber packten seine Knechte; den einen prügelten sie, den andern brachten sie um, einen dritten steinigten sie.	35 But the tenants seized his servants, thrashed one, kil ed another and stoned a third.
36 Darauf schickte er andere Knechte, mehr als das erste Mal; mit ihnen machten sie es genauso.	36 Next he sent some more servants, this time a larger number, and they dealt with them in the sameway.
37 Zuletzt sandte er seinen Sohn zu ihnen; denn er dachte: Vor meinem Sohn werden sie Achtung haben.	37 Final y he sent his son to them thinking, "They will respect my son."
38 Als die Winzer den Sohn sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Das ist der Erbe. Auf, wir wollen ihn töten, damit wir seinen Besitz erben.	38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, "This is the heir. Come on, let us kil himand take over his inheritance."
39 Und sie packten ihn, warfen ihn aus dem Weinberg hinaus und brachten ihn um.	39 So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and kil ed him.
40 Wenn nun der Besitzer des Weinbergs kommt: Was wird er mit solchen Winzern tun?	40 Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?'
41 Sie sagten zu ihm: Er wird diesen bösen Menschen ein böses Ende bereiten und den Weinberg an andere Winzer verpachten, die ihm die Früchte abliefern, wenn es Zeit dafür ist.	41 They answered, 'He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to othertenants who wil deliver the produce to him at the proper time.'
42 Und Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Habt ihr nie in der Schrift gelesen: Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, er ist zum Eckstein geworden; das hat der Herr vollbracht, vor unseren Augen geschah dieses Wunder?	42 Jesus said to them, 'Have you never read in the scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected hasbecome the cornerstone; this is the Lord's doing and we marvel at it?
43 Darum sage ich euch: Das Reich Gottes wird euch weggenommen und einem Volk gegeben werden, das die erwarteten Früchte bringt.	43 'I tel you, then, that the kingdom of God wil be taken from you and given to a people who willproduce its fruit.'
44 Und wer auf diesen Stein fällt, der wird zerschellen; auf wen der Stein aber fällt, den wird er zermalmen.	44
45 Als die Hohenpriester und die Pharisäer seine Gleichnisse hörten, merkten sie, dass er von ihnen sprach.	45 When they heard his parables, the chief priests and the scribes realised he was speaking aboutthem,
46 Sie hätten ihn gern verhaften lassen; aber sie fürchteten sich vor den Leuten, weil alle ihn für einen Propheten hielten.	46 but though they would have liked to arrest him they were afraid of the crowds, who looked on him asa prophet.
