1 Hört doch, was der Herr sagt: Auf, tritt an zum Rechtsstreit! Die Berge sollen Zeugen sein, die Hügel sollen deine Worte hören.	1 Hear, then, what the LORD says: Arise, present your plea before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice!
2 Hört zu, ihr Berge, beim Rechtsstreit des Herrn, gebt Acht, ihr Fundamente der Erde!Denn der Herr hat einen Rechtsstreit mit seinem Volk, er geht mit Israel ins Gericht:	2 Hear, O mountains, the plea of the LORD, pay attention, O foundations of the earth! For the LORD has a plea against his people, and he enters into trial with Israel.
3 Mein Volk, was habe ich dir getan, oder womit bin ich dir zur Last gefallen? Antworte mir!	3 O my people, what have I done to you, or how have I wearied you? Answer me!
4 Ich habe dich doch aus Ägypten heraufgeführt und dich freigekauft aus dem Sklavenhaus. Ich habe Mose vor dir hergesandt und Aaron und Mirjam.	4 For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, from the place of slavery I released you; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
5 Mein Volk, denk daran, was Balak plante, der König von Moab, und was ihm Bileam antwortete, der Sohn Beors; denk an den Zug von Schittim nach Gilgal und erkenne die rettenden Taten des Herrn.	5 My people, remember what Moab's King Balak planned, and how Balaam, the son of Beor, answered him . . . from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the just deeds of the LORD.
6 Womit soll ich vor den Herrn treten, wie mich beugen vor dem Gott in der Höhe? Soll ich mit Brandopfern vor ihn treten, mit einjährigen Kälbern?	6 With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow before God most high? Shall I come before him with holocausts, with calves a year old?
7 Hat der Herr Gefallen an Tausenden von Widdern, an zehntausend Bächen von Öl? Soll ich meinen Erstgeborenen hingeben für meine Vergehen, die Frucht meines Leibes für meine Sünde?	7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my crime, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 Es ist dir gesagt worden, Mensch, was gut ist und was der Herr von dir erwartet: Nichts anderes als dies: Recht tun, Güte und Treue lieben, in Ehrfurcht den Weg gehen mit deinem Gott.	8 You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.
9 Horcht! Der Herr ruft der Stadt zu: [Klug ist es, deinen Namen zu fürchten.] Hört, ihr Bürger und Räte der Stadt!	9 Hark! the LORD cries to the city. (It is wisdom to fear your name!) Hear, O tribe and city council,
10 Kann ich die ungerecht erworbenen Schätze vergessen, du Haus voller Unrecht, und das geschrumpfte Maß, das verfluchte?	10 Am I to bear any longer criminal hoarding and the meager ephah that is accursed?
11 Soll ich die gefälschte Waage ungestraft lassen und den Beutel mit den falschen Gewichten?	11 Shall I acquit criminal balances, bags of false weights?
12 Ja, die Reichen in der Stadt kennen nichts als Gewalttat,ihre Einwohner belügen einander, jedes Wort, das sie sagen, ist Betrug.	12 You whose rich men are full of violence, whose inhabitants speak falsehood with deceitful tongues in their heads!
13 Deshalb hole ich aus, um dich zu schlagen und dich wegen deiner Sünden in Schrecken zu stürzen.	13 Rather I will begin to strike you with devastation because of your sins.
14 Du wirst essen, doch du wirst nicht satt; Schwindel wird dich befallen. Was du beiseite schaffst, rettest du nicht; was du rettest, übergebe ich dem Schwert.	14 You shall eat, without being satisfied, food that will leave you empty; What you acquire, you cannot save; what you do save, I will deliver up to the sword.
15 Du wirst säen, aber nicht ernten; du wirst Oliven pressen, aber dich mit dem Öl nicht salben; du wirst Trauben keltern, aber den Wein nicht trinken.	15 You shall sow, yet not reap, tread out the olive, yet pour no oil, and the grapes, yet drink no wine.
16 Du hast dich nach Omris Gesetzen gerichtet und nach all den bösen Taten des Hauses Ahab; nach ihren Ratschlägen habt ihr gelebt. Darum mache ich dich zur schauerlichen Wüste und deine Bewohner zum Gespött. Ihr müsst es ertragen, dass euch die Völker verhöhnen.	16 You have kept the decrees of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you have walked in their counsels; Therefore I will deliver you up to ruin, and your citizens to derision; and you shall bear the reproach of the nations.
