EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Nach diesen Maßnahmen und diesen Beweisen der Treue Hiskijas zog Sanherib, der König von Assur, heran. Er fiel in Juda ein, belagerte die festen Städte und gedachte, sie für sich zu erobern.	1 After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 Als Hiskija sah, dass Sanherib herankam und sich zum Krieg gegen Jerusalem anschickte,	2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 überlegte er mit seinen Obersten und Helden, ob man nicht die Wasserquellen außerhalb der Stadt verstopfen solle. Sie unterstützten sein Vorhaben.	3 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
4 Man holte viel Volk zusammen und verstopfte alle Quellen und den Bach, der mitten durch das Tal fließt; denn man sagte sich: Wozu sollen die Könige von Assur bei ihrer Ankunft reichlich Wasser finden?	4 So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
5 Auch unternahm der König Anstrengungen, um die ganze Mauer auszubessern, in der Risse entstanden waren. Er erhöhte die Türme, baute draußen die andere Mauer, befestigte den Millo in der Davidstadt und ließ viele Wurfspieße und Schilde anfertigen.	5 Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
6 Dann setzte er Kriegsoberste über das Volk und versammelte sie vor sich am Platz vor dem Stadttor. Dort sprach er ihnen Mut zu und sagte:	6 And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7 Seid mutig und tapfer! Fürchtet euch nicht und erschreckt nicht vor dem König von Assur und dem großen Heer, das bei ihm ist; denn bei uns ist mehr als bei ihm.	7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 Bei ihm sind Arme aus Fleisch, bei uns aber ist der Herr, unser Gott, der uns hilft und unsere Kriege führt. Das Volk wurde durch die Worte Hiskijas, des Königs von Juda, ermutigt.	8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 Als dann Sanherib, der König von Assur, später mit seiner ganzen Streitmacht vor Lachisch stand, sandte er seine Diener nach Jerusalem zu Hiskija, dem König von Juda, und zu allen Judäern, die in Jerusalem wohnten. Er ließ ihnen sagen:	9 After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 So spricht Sanherib, der König von Assur: Worauf vertraut ihr denn, dass ihr im belagerten Jerusalem bleibt?	10 Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
11 Hiskija führt euch nur irre, um euch durch Hunger und Durst umkommen zu lassen, wenn er sagt: Der Herr, unser Gott, wird uns aus der Hand des Königs von Assur retten.	11 Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12 Hat nicht gerade Hiskija seine Kulthöhen und Altäre beseitigt und in Juda und Jerusalem angeordnet: Nur vor einem einzigen Altar dürft ihr euch niederwerfen und auf ihm Opfer anzünden?	12 Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
13 Wisst ihr denn nicht, was ich und meine Väter mit allen Völkern in anderen Ländern gemacht haben? Konnten denn die Götter der Völker in diesen Ländern ihr Land aus meiner Hand retten?	13 Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
14 Wer von all den Göttern dieser Völker, die meine Väter dem Untergang geweiht haben, konnte sein Volk aus meiner Hand retten? Wie sollte dann euer Gott euch aus meiner Hand retten?	14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
15 Lasst euch jetzt nicht von Hiskija betören und euch nicht auf diese Weise irreführen! Glaubt ihm nicht! Denn kein Gott irgendeines anderen Volkes oder Reiches konnte sein Volk aus meiner Hand und aus der Hand meiner Väter retten. Wie viel weniger wird euer Gott euch aus meiner Hand retten!	15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
16 Noch vieles andere redeten die Abgesandten Sanheribs gegen Gott, den Herrn, und seinen Knecht Hiskija.	16 And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 Sanherib schrieb auch einen Brief, in dem er den Herrn, den Gott Israels, verhöhnte. Er schrieb darin über ihn: Wie die Götter der Völker in anderen Ländern ihr Volk nicht aus meiner Hand gerettet haben, so wird auch der Gott Hiskijas sein Volk nicht aus meiner Hand retten.	17 He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
18 Der Bevölkerung Jerusalems, die auf der Mauer stand, riefen die Abgesandten ihren Auftrag mit lauter Stimme auf Judäisch zu, um sie in Furcht und Schrecken zu versetzen und so die Stadt erobern zu können.	18 Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19 Sie redeten vom Gott Jerusalems wie von den Göttern der anderen Völker auf der Erde, die nur ein Werk von Menschen sind.	19 And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
20 Doch König Hiskija und der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, beteten in dieser Angelegenheit zum Herrn und riefen zum Himmel.	20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 Da sandte der Herr einen Engel, der alle Kriegshelden, Fürsten und Hauptleute im Lager des Königs von Assur vernichtete. Sanherib musste, mit Schande bedeckt, in sein Land zurückkehren. Als er in den Tempel seines Gottes kam, machten ihn dort seine eigenen Söhne mit dem Schwert nieder.	21 And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22 So befreite der Herr den Hiskija und die Einwohner Jerusalems aus der Hand Sanheribs, des Königs von Assur, und aus der Hand aller Feinde. Er verlieh ihnen ringsum Ruhe.	22 Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
23 Viele brachten Gaben für den Herrn nach Jerusalem und kostbare Geschenke für Hiskija, den König von Juda. Er war seitdem hochgeehrt in den Augen aller Völker.	23 And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 In jenen Tagen wurde Hiskija schwer krank und war dem Tod nahe. Er betete zum Herrn und dieser erhörte ihn und gab ihm ein Wunderzeichen.	24 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
25 Doch Hiskija zeigte keine Dankbarkeit für die empfangene Wohltat und wurde hochmütig. Da kam ein Zorngericht über ihn und über Juda und Jerusalem.	25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Nun aber demütigte sich Hiskija mit den Einwohnern Jerusalems in seinem Stolz und so kam das Zorngericht des Herrn nicht schon in den Tagen Hiskijas über sie.	26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 Hiskija wurden Reichtum und Ehre in hohem Maß zuteil. Er erwarb Schätze an Silber, Gold, Edelsteinen, Balsam, Schilden und allerlei kostbaren Geräten.	27 And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
28 Auch hatte er Speicher für Getreide, Most und Öl, dazu Ställe für jede Art von Vieh und Hürden für die Herden.	28 Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
29 Er hatte sich nämlich Esel und einen reichen Besitz an Schafen und Rindern verschafft, denn Gott hatte ihm ein sehr großes Vermögen verliehen.	29 Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
30 Hiskija war es auch, der den oberen Abfluss des Gihonwassers verstopfte und es nach Westen in die Davidstadt hinableitete. Bei allem, was er unternahm, hatte er Erfolg.	30 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 So war es auch, als die babylonischen Obersten ihre Unterhändler zu ihm sandten, um Auskunft über das Zeichen zu erlangen, das im Land erschienen war. Da überließ ihn Gott sich selbst, um zu erproben, wie er wirklich gesinnt war.	31 Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 Die übrige Geschichte Hiskijas und seine frommen Taten sind aufgezeichnet in der Vision des Propheten Jesaja, des Sohnes des Amoz, und im Buch der Könige von Juda und Israel.	32 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Hiskija entschlief zu seinen Vätern und man begrub ihn beim Aufgang zu den Gräbern der Nachkommen Davids. Bei seinem Tod erwiesen ihm ganz Juda und die Einwohner Jerusalems die Ehre. Sein Sohn Manasse wurde König an seiner Stelle.	33 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
