EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Joschafat aber, der König von Juda, kehrte wohlbehalten nach Jerusalem in sein Haus zurück.	1 Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned home safely, however, to Jerusalem.
2 Da trat ihm der Seher Jehu, der Sohn Hananis, entgegen und hielt ihm vor: Musstest du dem Frevler helfen und liebst du jene, die den Herrn hassen? So lastet nun der Zorn des Herrn auf dir.	2 Jehu son of Hanani the seer went to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, 'Should a man give helpto the wicked? Should you love those who hate Yahweh and so bring his retribution on yourself?
3 Doch fand sich auch Gutes an dir. Du hast die Kultpfähle aus dem Land beseitigt und deinen Sinn darauf gerichtet, den wahren Gott zu suchen.	3 Al the same, there are good things to your credit, since you have removed the sacred poles from thecountry and have set your heart on seeking God.'
4 Joschafat blieb in Jerusalem. Dann zog er wieder von Beerscheba bis zum Gebirge Efraim unter dem Volk umher und führte es zum Herrn, dem Gott ihrer Väter, zurück.	4 Jehoshaphat resided in Jerusalem but regularly went on progress among the people, from Beershebato the highlands of Ephraim, to convert them to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.
5 Er bestellte Richter im Land für jede einzelne feste Stadt Judas	5 He also appointed judges in the country in every one of the fortified towns of Judah,
6 und gab ihnen die Weisung: Seht zu, was ihr tut; denn nicht im Auftrag von Menschen haltet ihr Gericht, sondern im Auftrag des Herrn. Er steht euch in der Rechtsprechung zur Seite.	6 saying to the judges, 'Be careful what you do, since you are judging not by any human power but inthe name of Yahweh, who will be with you when you pronounce sentence.
7 Lasst euch also von der Furcht des Herrn leiten und handelt gewissenhaft; denn beim Herrn, unserem Gott, gibt es keine Ungerechtigkeit, kein Ansehen der Person, keine Bestechlichkeit.	7 This being so, let fear of Yahweh govern you; be careful what you do, for Yahweh our God wil nottolerate malpractice, partiality or the taking of bribes.'
8 Außerdem bestellte Joschafat in Jerusalem Leviten, Priester und Familienhäupter für das Gericht des Herrn und für Streitigkeiten unter den Einwohnern Jerusalems.	8 Jehoshaphat also appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families in Jerusalemto settle disputes. They lived in Jerusalem
9 Er trug ihnen auf: Mit Furcht vor dem Herrn, mit Festigkeit und ehrlichem Herzen verfahrt folgendermaßen:	9 and Jehoshaphat gave them the fol owing charge: 'In fear of Yahweh and with conscientious integrity,this is how you are to act:
10 Bei jedem Streitfall, den eure Brüder in ihren Städten euch vorlegen, mag es sich nun um Blutschuld oder um eine Weisung, um ein Gebot oder um Gesetze und Rechte handeln, sollt ihr die Beteiligten warnen, damit sie nicht vor dem Herrn schuldig werden und ein Zorngericht über euch und eure Brüder kommt. Das sollt ihr tun, damit ihr euch nicht versündigt.	10 whatever case your brothers living in other towns refer to you, whether involving blood feuds or lawand commandment, statutes and judgements, you are to instruct them in such manner that they do not incur guiltbefore Yahweh and that you and your brothers do not incur his anger. If you act thus, you will not incur guilt.
11 Seht, der Oberpriester Amarja ist euer Vorgesetzter in allen Angelegenheiten des Herrn und Sebadja, der Sohn Jischmaels, der Fürst des Hauses Juda, in allen Angelegenheiten des Königs. Als Beamte stehen euch die Leviten zur Verfügung. Geht mutig an die Arbeit und der Herr sei mit dem, der seine Pflicht erfüllt.	11 Amariah the chief priest himself wil be your president in al religious cases, and Zebadiah son ofIshmael, leader of the House of Judah, in al civil ones, while the Levites will act as officers of the court. Be firm,put this into practice and may Yahweh protect the right!'
