1 So wurden Joschafat Reichtum und Ehre in hohem Maß zuteil. Joschafat verschwägerte sich mit Ahab.	1 Jehoshaphat therefore had wealth and glory in abundance; but he became related to Ahab by marriage.
2 Als er nach einigen Jahren zu Ahab nach Samaria kam, ließ Ahab für ihn und seine Leute eine Menge Schafe und Rinder schlachten und überredete ihn, gegen Ramot-Gilead in den Krieg zu ziehen.	2 After some years he went down to Ahab at Samaria; Ahab offered numerous sheep and oxen for him and the people with him, and persuaded him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.
3 Ahab, der König von Israel, fragte Joschafat, den König von Juda: Würdest du mit mir gegen Ramot- Gilead ziehen? Er antwortete: Ich ziehe mit dir, mein Volk mit deinem Volk. Ich nehme mit dir am Krieg teil.	3 Ahab, king of Israel, asked Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, "Will you come with me to Ramoth-gilead?" "You and I are as one," was his answer; "your people and my people as well. We will be with you in the battle."
4 Joschafat bat aber den König von Israel: Befrag doch zuvor den Herrn!	4 But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "Seek the word of the LORD at once."
5 Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, vierhundert Mann, und fragte sie: Soll ich gegen Ramot- Gilead zu Felde ziehen oder soll ich es lassen? Sie gaben den Bescheid: Zieh hinauf! Gott gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.	5 The king of Israel gathered his prophets, four hundred in number, and asked them, "Shall we go to attack Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go up," they answered. "God will deliver it over to the king."
6 Doch Joschafat sagte: Ist hier sonst kein Prophet des Herrn, den wir befragen könnten?	6 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no other prophet of the LORD here whom we may consult?"
7 Der König von Israel antwortete Joschafat: Es ist noch einer da, durch den wir den Herrn befragen könnten. Doch ich hasse ihn; denn er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes. Es ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas. Joschafat erwiderte: Der König sage das nicht.	7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still another through whom we may consult the LORD, but I hate him, for he prophesies not good but always evil about me. That is Micaiah, son of Imlah." Jeshoshaphat said, "Let not your Majesty speak of evil against you."
8 Da rief der König von Israel einen Hofbeamten herbei und befahl ihm, unverzüglich Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, zu holen.	8 So the king of Israel called an official, to whom he said, "Get Micaiah, son of Imlah, at once."
9 Der König von Israel und Joschafat, der König von Juda, saßen in königlichen Gewändern auf ihren Thronen. Sie befanden sich auf der Tenne beim Tor Samarias und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.	9 The king of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah were seated each on his throne, clothed in their robes of state on a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10 Zidkija, der Sohn Kenaanas, hatte sich eiserne Hörner gemacht und rief: So spricht der Herr: Mit diesen wirst du die Aramäer niederstoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast.	10 Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, made iron horns for himself and said: "The LORD says, 'With these you shall gore Aram until you have destroyed them.'"
11 Alle Propheten weissagten in gleicher Weise und riefen: Zieh nach Ramot-Gilead und sei erfolgreich; der Herr gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.	11 The other prophets prophesied in the same vein, saying: "Go up to Ramoth-gilead. You shall succeed; the LORD will deliver it over to the king."
12 Der Bote aber, der Micha holen sollte, redete ihm zu: Die Worte der Propheten waren ohne Ausnahme günstig für den König. Mögen deine Worte ihren Worten gleichen. Sag daher Gutes an!	12 The messenger who had gone to call Micaiah said to him: "Look now, the prophets unanimously predict good for the king. Let your word, like each of theirs, predict good."
13 Doch Micha erwiderte: So wahr der Herr lebt: Nur was Gott mir sagt, werde ich sagen.	13 "As the LORD lives," Micaiah answered, "I will say what my God tells me."
14 Als er zum König kam, fragte ihn dieser: Micha, sollen wir gegen Ramot-Gilead zu Felde ziehen oder sollen wir es lassen? Micha antwortete: Zieht hinauf und seid erfolgreich! Sie werden eurer Gewalt übergeben werden.	14 When he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to fight against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go up," he answered, "and succeed; they will be delivered into your power."
15 Doch der König entgegnete: Wie oft muss ich dich beschwören, mir im Namen des Herrn nur die Wahrheit zu sagen?	15 But the king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"
16 Da sagte Micha: Ich sah ganz Israel über die Berge zerstreut wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der Herr sagte: Sie haben keine Herren mehr. So gehe jeder in Frieden nach Hause.	16 Then Micaiah answered: "I see all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD saying, 'These have no master!' Let each of them go back home in peace.'"
17 Da wandte sich der König von Israel an Joschafat: Habe ich es dir nicht gesagt? Er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes.	17 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he prophesies no good about me, but only evil?"
18 Micha aber fuhr fort: Darum hört das Wort des Herrn: Ich sah den Herrn auf seinem Thron sitzen; das ganze Heer des Himmels stand zu seiner Rechten und seiner Linken.	18 But Micaiah continued: "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD seated on his throne, with the whole host of heaven standing by to his right and to his left.
19 Und der Herr fragte: Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, betören, sodass er nach Ramot-Gilead hinaufzieht und dort fällt? Da hatte der eine diesen, der andere jenen Vorschlag.	19 The LORD asked, 'Who will deceive Ahab, king of Israel, so that he will go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this, another that,
20 Zuletzt trat der Geist vor, stellte sich vor den Herrn und sagte: Ich werde ihn betören. Der Herr fragte ihn: Auf welche Weise?	20 until a spirit came forward and presented himself to the LORD, saying, 'I will deceive him.' The LORD asked, 'How?'
21 Er gab zur Antwort: Ich werde mich aufmachen und zu einem Lügengeist im Mund all seiner Propheten werden. Da sagte der Herr: Du wirst ihn betören; du vermagst es. Geh und tu es!	21 He answered, 'I will go forth and become a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.' The LORD agreed: 'You shall succeed in deceiving him. Go forth and do this.'
22 So hat der Herr jetzt einen Geist der Lüge in den Mund deiner Propheten gelegt; denn er hat über dich Unheil beschlossen.	22 So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these your prophets, but the LORD himself has decreed evil against you."
23 Da trat Zidkija, der Sohn Kenaanas, zu Micha, schlug ihn ins Gesicht und rief: Wie, sollte denn der Geist des Herrn von mir gewichen sein, um mit dir zu reden?	23 Thereupon Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, came up and slapped Micaiah on the cheek, saying, "Which way did the spirit of the LORD go when he left me to speak to you?"
24 Micha erwiderte: Du wirst es an jenem Tag erfahren, an dem du von einem Gemach in das andere eilst, um dich zu verstecken.	24 "You shall find out," Micaiah replied, "on that day when you enter an innermost chamber to hide."
25 Der König von Israel aber gab den Befehl: Nehmt Micha fest, führt ihn zum Stadtobersten Amon und zum Prinzen Joasch	25 The king of Israel then said: "Seize Micaiah and take him back to Amon, prefect of the city, and to Joash the king's son,
26 und meldet: So spricht der König: Werft diesen Mann ins Gefängnis, und haltet ihn streng bei Brot und Wasser, bis ich wohlbehalten zurückkomme.	26 and say, 'This is the king's order: Put this man in prison and feed him scanty rations of bread and water until I return in safety!'"
27 Doch Micha erwiderte: Wenn du wohlbehalten zurückkommst, dann hat der Herr nicht durch mich geredet. [Und er sagte: Hört, alle ihr Völker!]	27 But Micaiah said, "If ever you return in safety, the LORD has not spoken through me." And he said, "Hear, O peoples, all of you!"
28 Darauf zog der König von Israel mit Joschafat, dem König von Juda, gegen Ramot-Gilead.	28 The king of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead
29 Der König von Israel sagte zu Joschafat: Ich will mich verkleiden und so in den Kampf ziehen. Du aber behalte deine Gewänder an! So ging der König von Israel verkleidet in den Kampf.	29 and the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will go into battle disguised, but you put on your own clothes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and they entered the fray.
30 Der König von Aram hatte aber den Obersten seiner Kriegswagen befohlen: Greift niemanden an, er sei hohen oder niederen Ranges, außer den König von Israel.	30 Meanwhile, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the order, "Fight with no one, small or great, except the king of Israel."
31 Als daher die Obersten der Kriegswagen Joschafat erblickten und ihn für den König von Israel hielten, stürmten sie auf ihn ein, sodass er um Hilfe schrie. Doch der Herr half ihm und lenkte sie von ihm weg.	31 When the commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they exclaimed, "That must be the king of Israel!" and shifted to fight him. But Jehoshaphat cried out and the LORD helped him; God induced them to leave him.
32 Als sie nämlich sahen, dass er nicht der König von Israel war, ließen sie von ihm ab.	32 The chariot commanders became aware that he was not the king of Israel and gave up their pursuit of him.
33 Ein Mann aber spannte aufs Geratewohl seinen Bogen und traf den König von Israel zwischen Panzer und Leibgurt. Dieser befahl daher dem Wagenlenker: Wende um und bring mich aus der Schlacht; denn ich bin verwundet.	33 Someone, however, drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the joints of his breastplate. He ordered his charioteer, "Rein about and take me out of the ranks, for I am disabled."
34 Da aber die Schlacht an jenem Tag heftig wurde, hielt der König von Israel den Aramäern gegenüber im Wagen stand bis zum Abend. Zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs starb er.	34 The battle grew fierce during the day, and the king of Israel braced himself up on his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. He died as the sun was setting.
