1 Die Söhne Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels: Ruben war der Erstgeborene. Da er aber das Bett seines Vaters entweiht hatte, wurde sein Erstgeburtsrecht den Söhnen Josefs, des Sohnes Israels, gegeben. Doch richten sich die Stammeslisten nicht nach dem Erstgeburtsrecht;	1 The sons of Reuben, the first-born of Israel. (He was indeed the first-born, but because he disgraced the couch of his father his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, son of Israel, so that he is not listed in the family records according to birthright.
2 Juda erlangte nämlich die Herrschaft über seine Brüder und einer aus ihm wurde der Fürst, obwohl das Erstgeburtsrecht bei Josef war.	2 Judah, in fact, became powerful among his brothers, so that the ruler came from him, though the birthright had been Joseph's.)
3 Die Söhne Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels, waren: Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi.	3 The sons of Reuben, the first-born of Israel, were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4 Der Sohn Joëls war Schemaja, dessen Sohn Gog, dessen Sohn Schimi,	4 His son was Joel, whose son was Shemaiah, whose son was Gog, whose son was Shimei,
5 dessen Sohn Micha, dessen Sohn Reaja, dessen Sohn Baal,	5 whose son was Micah, whose son was Reaiah, whose son was Baal,

9 Ostwärts wohnten sie bis an den Rand der Steppe, die sich vom Eufrat her erstreckt; denn sie besaßen große Herden im Land Gilead.	9 toward the east they dwelt as far as the desert which extends from the Euphrates River, for they had much livestock in the land of Gilead.
10 In den Tagen Sauls führten sie Krieg mit den Hagaritern. Diese fielen in ihre Hand und sie besetzten ihre Zelte auf der ganzen Ostseite von Gilead.	10 During the reign of Saul they waged war with the Hagrites, and when they had defeated them they occupied their tents throughout the region east of Gilead.
11 Die Nachkommen Gads wohnten ihnen gegenüber im Gebiet des Baschan bis Salcha.	11 The Gadites lived alongside them in the land of Bashan as far as Salecah.
12 Ihr Oberhaupt war Joël; Schafam war der Zweite, dazu kamen Janai und Schafat; sie wohnten im Baschan.	12 Joel was chief, Shapham was second in command, and Janai was judge in Bashan.
13 Ihre Brüder mit ihren Großfamilien waren Michael, Meschullam, Scheba, Jorai, Jakan, Sia und Eber, insgesamt sieben.	13 Their brothers, corresponding to their ancestral houses, were: Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber--seven.
14 Das waren die Söhne Abihajils, des Sohnes Huris, des Sohnes Jaroachs, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Michaels, des Sohnes Jeschischais, des Sohnes Jachdos, des Sohnes des Bus: . . .	14 These were the sons of Abihail, son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jeshishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz.
15 Ahi, der Sohn Abdiëls, des Sohnes Gunis, war Haupt ihrer Großfamilien.	15 Ahi, son of Abdiel, son of Guni, was the head of their ancestral houses.
16 Sie wohnten in Gilead, im Baschan und seinen Tochterstädten und an allen Weideflächen Scharons bis zu ihren Ausläufern.	16 They dwelt in Gilead, in Bashan and its towns, and in all the pasture lands of Sirion to the borders.
17 In den Tagen Jotams, des Königs von Juda, und in den Tagen Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, wurden alle in die Stammeslisten eingetragen.	17 All were listed in the family records in the time of Jotham, king of Judah, and of Jeroboam, king of Israel.
18 Die Krieger von Ruben, Gad und dem halben Stamm Manasse, Männer, die Schild und Schwert trugen, den Bogen spannten und im Kampf geübt waren, vierundvierzigtausendsiebenhundertsechzig Mann, die im Heer ausrückten,	18 The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh were warriors, men who bore shield and sword and who drew the bow, trained in warfare--forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty men fit for military service.
19 führten Krieg gegen die Hagariter und gegen Jetur, Nafisch und Nodab.	19 When they waged war against the Hagrites and against Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab,
20 Sie waren siegreich und konnten die Hagariter und deren Verbündete in ihre Gewalt bringen; denn sie schrien im Kampf zu Gott und dieser ließ sich erbitten, da sie auf ihn vertrauten.	20 they received help so that they mastered the Hagrites and all who were with them. For during the battle they called on God, and he heard them because they had put their trust in him.
21 So führten sie deren Besitz weg: 50000 Kamele, 250000 Schafe und 2000 Esel, dazu 100000 Personen.	21 Along with one hundred thousand men they also captured their livestock: fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep, and two thousand asses.
22 Viele Feinde wurden erschlagen und fielen, denn es war ein Krieg Gottes. Die Israeliten siedelten sich an ihrer Stelle an und blieben dort bis zur Verschleppung.	22 Many had fallen in battle, for victory is from God; and they took over their dwelling place until the time of the exile.
23 Die Angehörigen des halben Stammes Manasse wohnten in dem Land, das vom Baschan bis Baal-Hermon, zum Senir und zum Hermongebirge reicht. Sie waren sehr zahlreich.	23 The numerous members of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land of Bashan as far as Baal-hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon.
24 Und das waren die Häupter ihrer Großfamilien: Efer, Jischi, Eliël, Asriël, Jirmeja, Hodawja und Jachdiël. Sie waren tapfere Krieger, Männer von Namen, Häupter ihrer Großfamilien.	24 The following were the heads of their ancestral houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel--men who were warriors, famous men, and heads over their ancestral houses.
25 Doch wurden sie dem Gott ihrer Väter untreu und gaben sich den Göttern der Landesbevölkerung hin, die Gott vor ihnen vertrieben hatte.	25 However, they offended the God of their fathers by lusting after the gods of the natives of the land, whom God had cleared out of their way.
26 Darum erweckte der Gott Israels den Geist Puls, des Königs von Assur, das heißt den Geist Tiglat-Pilesers, des Königs von Assur. Dieser führte die Rubeniter, die Gaditer und den halben Stamm Manasse in die Verbannung und brachte sie nach Halach, an den Habor, nach Hara und an den Fluss von Gosan. Dort sind sie bis zum heutigen Tag.	26 Therefore the God of Israel incited against them the anger of Pul, king of Assyria, and of Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, who deported the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh and brought them to Halah, Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, where they have remained to this day.
27 Die Söhne Levis waren: Gerschon, Kehat und Merari.	27 The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
28 Die Söhne Kehats waren: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël.	28 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
29 Die Kinder Amrams waren: Aaron, Mose und Mirjam. Die Söhne Aarons waren: Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar.	29 The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
30 Eleasar zeugte Pinhas, Pinhas zeugte Abischua,	30 Eleazar became the father of Phinehas. Phinehas became the father of Abishua.
31 Abischua zeugte Bukki, Bukki zeugte Usi,	31 Abishua became the father of Bukki. Bukki became the father of Uzzi.
32 Usi zeugte Serachja, Serachja zeugte Merajot,	32 Uzzi became the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah became the father of Meraioth.
33 Merajot zeugte Amarja, Amarja zeugte Ahitub,	33 Meraioth became the father of Amariah. Amariah became the father of Ahitub.
34 Ahitub zeugte Zadok, Zadok zeugte Ahimaaz,	34 Ahitub became the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Ahimaaz.
35 Ahimaaz zeugte Asarja, Asarja zeugte Johanan,	35 Ahimaaz became the father of Azariah. Azariah became the father of Johanan.
