1 Alle Stämme Israels kamen zu David nach Hebron und sagten: Wir sind doch dein Fleisch und Bein.	1 Then all the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron, saying: Behold we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 Schon früher, als noch Saul unser König war, bist du es gewesen, der Israel in den Kampf und wieder nach Hause geführt hat. Der Herr hat zu dir gesagt: Du sollst der Hirt meines Volkes Israel sein, du sollst Israels Fürst werden.
3 Alle Ältesten Israels kamen zum König nach Hebron; der König David schloss mit ihnen in Hebron einen Vertrag vor dem Herrn und sie salbten David zum König von Israel.	3 Moreover yesterday also and the day before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that did lead out and bring in Israel: and the Lord said to thee: Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.
4 David war dreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte vierzig Jahre lang.	4 The ancients also of Israel came to the king to Hebron, and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David to be king over Israel.
5 In Hebron war er sieben Jahre und sechs Monate König von Juda und in Jerusalem war er dreiunddreißig Jahre König von ganz Israel und Juda.	5 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
6 Der König zog mit seinen Männern nach Jerusalem gegen die Jebusiter, die in dieser Gegend wohnten. Die Jebusiter aber sagten zu David: Du kommst hier nicht herein; die Blinden und Lahmen werden dich vertreiben. Das sollte besagen: David wird hier nicht eindringen.	6 In Hebron he reigned over Juda seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned three and thirty years over all Israel and Juda.
7 Dennoch eroberte David die Burg Zion; sie wurde die Stadt Davids.	7 And the king and all the men that were with him went to Jerusalem to the Jebusites the inhabitants of the land: and they said to David: Thou shalt not come in hither unless thou take away the blind and the lame that say: David shall not come in hither.
8 David sagte an jenem Tag: Jeder, der den Schacht erreicht, soll die Jebusiter erschlagen, auch die Lahmen und Blinden, die David in der Seele verhasst sind. Daher sagt man: Ein Blinder und ein Lahmer kommt nicht ins Haus.	8 But David took the castle of Sion, the same is the city of David.
9 David ließ sich in der Burg nieder und nannte sie die Stadt Davids. Und David begann ringsum zu bauen, und zwar vom Millo an bis zur Burg.	9 For David had offered that day a reward to whosoever should strike the Jebusites and get up to the gutters of the tops of the houses, and take away the blind and the lame that hated the soul of David: therefore it is said in the proverb: The blind and the lame shall not come into the temple.
10 David wurde immer mächtiger und der Herr, der Gott der Heere, war mit ihm.	10 And David dwelt in the castle, and called it, The city of David: and built round about from Mello and inwards.
11 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, schickte eine Gesandtschaft zu David und ließ ihm Zedernholz überbringen; auch Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen schickte er und sie bauten für David einen Palast.	11 dummy verses inserted by amos
12 So erkannte David, dass der Herr ihn als König von Israel bestätigt hatte und dass der Herr sein Königtum wegen seines Volkes Israel zu hohem Ansehen gebracht hatte.	12 And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons for walls: and they built a house for David.
13 Als David von Hebron gekommen war, nahm er sich noch Nebenfrauen, auch Frauen aus Jerusalem. So wurden ihm noch mehr Söhne und Töchter geboren.	13 And David knew that the Lord bad confirmed him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom over his people Israel.
14 Das sind die Namen der Söhne, die ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Schima, Schobab, Natan, Salomo,	14 And David took more concubines and wives of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were born to David other sons also and daughters:
15 Jibhar, Elischua, Nefeg, Jafia,	15 And these are the names of them, that were born to him in Jerusalem, Samua, and Sobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
16 Elischama, Eljada und Elifelet.	16 And Jebahar, and Elisua, and Nepheg,
17 Die Philister hörten, dass man David zum König von Israel gesalbt hatte. Da zogen alle herauf, um David gefangen zu nehmen. David erfuhr davon und zog sich in eine Bergfestung zurück.	17 And Japhia, and Elisama, and Elioda, and Eliphaleth.
18 Als die Philister herankamen und in der Rafaïterebene umherstreiften,	18 And the Philistines heard that they had anointed David to be king over Israel: and they all came to seek David: and when David heard of it, he went down to a strong hold.
19 befragte David den Herrn; er sagte: Soll ich die Philister angreifen? Wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der Herr antwortete David: Greif sie an; denn ich werde die Philister bestimmt in deine Hand geben.	19 And the Philistines coming spread themselves in the valley of Raphaim.
20 Da zog David nach Baal- Perazim. Dort schlug er die Philister und sagte: Der Herr hat die Reihen meiner Feinde vor meinen Augen durchbrochen, wie Wasser (einen Damm) durchbricht. Deshalb nennt man jenen Ort Baal-Perazim (Herr der Durchbrüche).	20 And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up to the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to David: Go up, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
21 Die Philister ließen dort ihre Götterbilder zurück, sodass David und seine Männer sie mitnehmen konnten.	21 And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there, and he said: The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim.
22 Doch die Philister zogen noch einmal herauf und streiften in der Rafaïterebene umher.	22 And they left there their idols: which David and his men took away.
23 David befragte wieder den Herrn und der Herr antwortete ihm: Zieh nicht hinauf, umgeh sie in ihrem Rücken und komm von den Baka-Bäumen her an sie heran!	23 And the Philistines came up again and spread themselves in the valley of Raphaim.
24 Wenn du dann in den Wipfeln der Baka-Bäume ein Geräusch wie von Schritten hörst, dann beeil dich; denn dann geht der Herr vor dir her, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.	24 And David consulted the Lord: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hands? He answered: Go not up against them, but fetch a compass behind them, and thou shalt come upon them over against the pear trees.
25 David tat, was der Herr ihm befohlen hatte, und er schlug die Philister (im ganzen Gebiet) zwischen Geba und der Gegend von Geser.	25 And when thou shalt hear the sound of one going in the tops of the pear trees, then shalt thou join battle: for then will the Lord go out before thy face to strike the army of the Philistines.
