7 Auf dem Rückweg kamen sie nach En-Mischpat, das jetzt Kadesch heißt, und verwüsteten das ganze Gebiet der Amalekiter sowie das der Amoriter, die in Hazezon-Tamar wohnten.	7 Wheeling round, they came to the Spring of Judgement (that is, Kadesh); they conquered all theterritory of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-Tamar.
8 Der König von Sodom, der König von Gomorra, der König von Adma, der König von Zebojim und der König von Bela, das jetzt Zoar heißt, zogen aus und stellten sich ihnen im Siddimtal zum Kampf,	8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out andengaged them in the Val ey of Siddim:
9 nämlich Kedor-Laomer, dem König von Elam, Tidal, dem König der Völker, Amrafel, dem König von Schinar, und Arjoch, dem König von Ellasar: vier Könige gegen fünf.	9 Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of the Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king ofEl asar: four kings against five.
10 Das Siddimtal war voller Erdpechgruben; die Könige von Sodom und Gomorra mussten fliehen und fielen dort hinein, die Übrigen flohen ins Gebirge.	10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.
11 Die Feinde nahmen die ganze Habe von Sodom und Gomorra sowie alle ihre Vorräte mit und zogen ab.	11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.
12 Als sie abzogen, nahmen sie auch Lot, den Neffen Abrams, und seine Habe mit; Lot wohnte damals in Sodom.	12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.
13 Ein Flüchtling kam und berichtete es dem Hebräer Abram; Abram wohnte bei den Eichen des Amoriters Mamre, des Bruders Eschkols und Aners, die seine Bundesgenossen waren.	13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.
14 Als Abram hörte, sein Bruder sei gefangen, musterte er seine ausgebildete Mannschaft, dreihundertachtzehn Mann, die alle in seinem Haus geboren waren, und nahm die Verfolgung auf bis nach Dan.	14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.
15 In der Nacht verteilten sie sich, er und seine Knechte, um sie zu überfallen. Er schlug sie und verfolgte sie bis Hoba, nördlich von Damaskus.	15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 Er brachte die ganze Habe zurück, auch seinen Bruder Lot und dessen Besitz sowie die Frauen und die übrigen Leute.	16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.
17 Als er nach dem Sieg über Kedor-Laomer und die mit ihm verbündeten Könige zurückkam, zog ihm der König von Sodom ins Schawetal entgegen, das jetzt Königstal heißt.	17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).
18 Melchisedek, der König von Salem, brachte Brot und Wein heraus. Er war Priester des Höchsten Gottes.	18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.
19 Er segnete Abram und sagte: Gesegnet sei Abram vom Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde,	19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.
20 und gepriesen sei der Höchste Gott, der deine Feinde an dich ausgeliefert hat. Darauf gab ihm Abram den Zehnten von allem.	20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 Der König von Sodom sagte zu Abram: Gib mir die Leute zurück, die Habe behalte!	21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'
22 Abram entgegnete dem König von Sodom: Ich erhebe meine Hand zum Herrn, dem Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde:	22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:
23 Keinen Faden und keinen Schuhriemen, nichts von allem, was dir gehört, will ich behalten. Du sollst nicht behaupten können: Ich habe Abram reich gemacht.	23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."
24 Nur was meine Leute verzehrt haben und was auf die Männer entfällt, die mit mir gezogen sind, auf Aner, Eschkol und Mamre, das sollen sie als ihren Anteil behalten.	24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'
