Psalms 123

I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: We shall go into the house of the Lord.1 A Canticle in steps. If the Lord had not been with us, let Israel now say it:
Our feet were standing in thy courts, O Jerusalem.2 if the Lord had not been with us, when men rose up against us,
Jerusalem, which is built as a city, which is compact together.3 perhaps they would have swallowed us alive. When their fury was enraged against us,
For thither did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord: the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord.4 perhaps the waters would have engulfed us.
Because their seats have sat in judgment, seats upon the house of David.5 Our soul has passed through a torrent. Perhaps, our soul had even passed through intolerable water.
Pray ye for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem: and abundance for them that love thee.6 Blessed is the Lord, who has not given us into the harm of their teeth.
Let peace be in thy strength: and abundance in thy towers.7 Our soul has been snatched away like a sparrow from the snare of the hunters. The snare has been broken, and we have been freed.
For the sake of my brethren, and of my neighbours, I spoke peace of thee.8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Because of the house of the Lord our God, I have sought good things for thee.
