1 Ela estende seu vigor de uma extremidade do mundo à outra e governa todas as coisas com felicidade.	1 Wisdom reacheth from one end to another mightily: and sweetly doth she order all things.
2 Eu a amei e procurei desde minha juventude, esforçei-me por tê-la por esposa e me enamorei de seus encantos.	2 I loved her, and sought her out from my youth, I desired to make her my spouse, and I was a lover of her beauty.
3 Ela mostra a nobreza de sua origem em conviver com Deus, ela é amada pelo Senhor de todas as coisas.	3 In that she is conversant with God, she magnifieth her nobility: yea, the Lord of all things himself loved her.
4 Ela é iniciada na ciência de Deus e, por sua escolha, decide de suas obras.	4 For she is privy to the mysteries of the knowledge of God, and a lover of his works.
5 Se a riqueza é um bem desejável na vida, que há de mais rico que a Sabedoria que tudo criou?	5 If riches be a possession to be desired in this life; what is richer than wisdom, that worketh all things?
6 Se a inteligência do homem consegue operar, o que, então, mais que a Sabedoria, é artífice dos seres?	6 And if prudence work; who of all that are is a more cunning workman than she?
7 E se alguém ama a justiça, seus trabalhos são virtudes; ela ensina a temperança e a prudência, a justiça e a força: não há ninguém que seja mais útil aos homens na vida.	7 And if a man love righteousness her labours are virtues: for she teacheth temperance and prudence, justice and fortitude: which are such things, as en can have nothing more profitable in their life.
8 Se alguém deseja uma vasta ciência, ela sabe o passado e conjectura o futuro; conhece as sutilezas oratórias e revolve os enigmas; prevê os sinais e os prodígios, e o que tem que acontecer no decurso das idades e dos tempos.	8 If a man desire much experience, she knoweth things of old, and conjectureth aright what is to come: she knoweth the subtilties of speeches, and can expound dark sentences: she foreseeth signs and wonders, and the events of seasons and times.
9 Portanto, resolvi tomá-la por companheira de minha vida, cuidando que ela será para mim uma boa conselheira, e minha consolação nos cuidados e na tristeza.	9 Therefore I purposed to take her to me to live with me, knowing that she would be a counsellor of good things, and a comfort in cares and grief.
10 Graças a ela, receberei as honras das multidões, e, embora jovem como sou, o respeito dos anciãos.	10 For her sake I shall have estimation among the multitude, and honour with the elders, though I be young.
11 Reconhecerão a penetração de meu julgamento, e excitarei a admiração dos reis.	11 I shall be found of a quick conceit in judgment, and shall be admired in the sight of great men.
12 Se me calo, esperarão que eu fale; se falo, estarão atentos; e se prolongo meu discurso, levarão a mão à boca.	12 When I hold my tongue, they shall bide my leisure, and when I speak, they shall give good ear unto me: if I talk much, they shall lay their hands upon their mouth.
13 Por meio dela obterei a imortalidade, e deixarei à posteridade uma lembrança eterna.	13 Moreover by the means of her I shall obtain immortality, and leave behind me an everlasting memorial to them that come after me.
14 Governarei povos e as nações ser-me-ão submissas.	14 I shall set the people in order, and the nations shall be subject unto me.
15 Príncipes temíveis estarão cheios de medo ao ouvirem falar de mim; mostrar-me-ei bom para com o povo e valoroso no combate.	15 Horrible tyrants shall be afraid, when they do but hear of me; I shall be found good among the multitude, and valiant in war.
16 Recolhido em minha casa, repousarei junto dela, porque a sua convivência não tem nada de desagradável, e sua intimidade nada de fastidioso; ela traz consigo, pelo contrário, o contentamento e a alegria!	16 After I am come into mine house, I will repose myself with her: for her conversation hath no bitterness; and to live with her hath no sorrow, but mirth and joy.
17 Meditando comigo mesmo nesses pensamentos, e considerando em meu coração que a imortalidade se encontra na aliança com a Sabedoria,	17 Now when I considered these things in myself, and pondered them in my heart, how that to be allied unto wisdom is immortality;
18 a alegria perfeita na sua amizade, contínua riqueza na sua atividade, inteligência nas lições de seus entretenimentos familiares, e glória na comunicação de suas sentenças, saí à sua procura a fim de possuí-la em mim.	18 And great pleasure it is to have her friendship; and in the works of her hands are infinite riches; and in the exercise of conference with her, prudence; and in talking with her, a good report; I went about seeking how to take her to me.
19 Eu era um menino vigoroso, dotado de uma alma excelente,	19 For I was a witty child, and had a good spirit.
20 ou antes, como era bom, eu vim a um corpo intacto;	20 Yea rather, being good, I came into a body undefiled.
21 mas, consciente de não poder possuir a sabedoria, a não ser por dom de Deus, (e já era inteligência o saber de onde vem o dom), eu me voltei para o Senhor, e invoquei-o, dizendo do fundo do coração:	21 Nevertheless, when I perceived that I could not otherwise obtain her, except God gave her me; and that was a point of wisdom also to know whose gift she was; I prayed unto the Lord, and besought him, and with my whole heart I said,
