1 [For the choirmaster On the . . . of Gath Psalm Of David] Yahweh our Lord, how majestic is your namethroughout the world! Whoever keeps singing of your majesty higher than the heavens,	1 Dem Musikmeister, nach der Keltertreterweise; ein Psalm von David.
2 even through the mouths of children, or of babes in arms, you make him a fortress, firm against yourfoes, to subdue the enemy and the rebel.	2 HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich istdein Name auf der ganzen Erde,du, dessen Hoheit (= Majestät) am Himmel sich kundtut!
3 I look up at your heavens, shaped by your fingers, at the moon and the stars you set firm-	3 Aus der Kinder und Säuglinge Mundhast du ein Bollwerk dir zugerichtet deinen Gegnern zum Trotz,um Feinde und Widersacher verstummen zu machen (vgl. Mt 21,6).
4 what are human beings that you spare a thought for them, or the child of Adam that you care for him?	4 Wenn ich anschau’ deinen Himmel, das Werk deiner Finger,den Mond und die Sterne, die du hergerichtet:
5 Yet you have made him little less than a god, you have crowned him with glory and beauty,	5 was ist der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkst,und der Menschensohn, daß du ihn beachtest?! (Hebr 2,6-9)
6 made him lord of the works of your hands, put al things under his feet,	6 Und doch hast du ihn nur wenig hinter die Gottheit gestellt,mit Herrlichkeit und Hoheit ihn gekrönt;
7 sheep and cattle, all of them, and even the wild beasts,	7 du hast ihm die Herrschaft verliehn über deiner Hände Werke,ja alles ihm unter die Füße gelegt:
8 birds in the sky, fish in the sea, when he makes his way across the ocean.	8 Kleinvieh und Rinder allzumal,dazu auch die wilden Tiere des Feldes,
9 Yahweh our Lord, how majestic your name throughout the world!	9 die Vögel des Himmels, die Fische im Meer,alles, was die Pfade der Meere durchzieht.
	10 HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich istdein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
