Job 27

	1 - E continuò Giobbe, riprendendo la sua sentenza, e disse:
2 As God lives, who withholds my deserts, the Almighty, who has made bitter my soul,	2 «Per la vita di Dio, che tolse via il mio diritto, e dell'Onnipotente, che amareggiò l'anima mia,
3 So long as I still have life in me and the breath of God is in my nostrils,	3 che - fino a quando rimarrà alito in me, e il soffio di Dio nelle mie narici -
4 My lips shall not speak falsehood, nor my tongue utter deceit!	4 le mie labbra non pronunceranno iniquità, nè la mia lingua asserirà menzogna.
5 Far be it from me to account you right; till I die I will not renounce my innocence.	5 Lungi da me che io giudichi aver voi ragione; fino a che morrò, non cesserò [d'affermare] la mia innocenza.
6 My justice I maintain and I will not relinquish it; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.	6 Non abbandonerò la mia giustizia, a cui già m'attenni, nè di tutta la mia vita il mio cuore mi rimprovera nulla.
7 Let my enemy be as the wicked and my adversary as the unjust!	7 Succeda al mio nemico come all'empio, e al mio avversario come all'iniquo!
8 For what can the impious man expect when he is cut off, when God requires his life?	8 Poichè qual è mai la speranza del perverso se viene reciso, e Dio gli ridomanda l'anima?
9 Will God then attend to his cry when calamity comes upon him?	9 Ascolterà forse Dio il grido di lui, quando sovr'esso giungerà l'angustia?
10 Will he then delight in the Almighty and call upon him constantly?	10 o troverà egli nell'Onnipotente il suo diletto, e l'invocherà in ogni tempo?
11 I will teach you the manner of God's dealings, and the way of the Almighty I will not conceal.	11 Insegnerò io a voialtri, con l'aiuto di Dio, e i disegni dell'Onnipotente non vi celerò:
12 Behold, you yourselves have all seen it; why then do you spend yourselves in idle words!	12 voi tutti infatti avete riscontrato, e perchè dunque senza ragione asserite cose vane?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the inheritance an oppressor receives from the Almighty:	13 Questa è la sorte che Dio assegna all'uomo empio, e l'eredità che i violenti ricevono dall'Onnipotente:
14 Though his children be many, the sword is their destiny. His offspring shall not be filled with bread.	14 se i suoi figli saranno numerosi, son destinati alla spada, e i suoi discendenti non si sazieranno di pane;
15 His survivors, when they die, shall have no burial, and their widows shall not be mourned.	15 i superstiti suoi saran sepolti di peste, e le vedove loro non eleveranno il pianto.
16 Though he heap up silver like dust and store away mounds of clothing,	16 Se egli accumula l'argento come terra, e come creta ha preparato vestimenta,
17 What he has stored the just man shall wear, and the innocent shall divide the silver.	17 egli prepara, ma il giusto se ne veste, e l'argento lo spartisce l'innocente.
18 He builds his house as of cobwebs, or like a booth put up by the vine-keeper.	18 Fabbrica, come per la tignuola, la sua casa, e come un vignaiuolo che faccia un [debole] capanno;
19 He lies down a rich man, one last time; he opens his eyes and nothing remains to him.	19 ricco ei si giacerà, ma nulla porterà seco, aprendo i suoi occhi non ritroverà nulla.
20 Terrors rush upon him by day; at night the tempest carries him off.	20 Lo raggiungerà come acqua [impetuosa] la miseria, di notte l'opprimerà l'uragano;
21 The storm wind seizes him and he disappears; it sweeps him out of his place.	21 un vento infocato via lo rapisce ed invola, e come turbine lo porta lungi dal suo luogo.
	22 [Dio] lo bersaglierà senza risparmiarlo, mentre dalla mano di lui quello tenta fuggire;
	23 [la gente] batterà a suo disprezzo le mani, e a suo disprezzo fischierà, vedendo il suo luogo.
