Job 27

	1 Soggiunse di poi Giobbe, e ripigliando la sua parabola, disse:
2 As God lives, who withholds my deserts, the Almighty, who has made bitter my soul,	2 Viva Iddio, il quale ha abbandonata la causa mia, e l'Onnipotente, il quale ha immersa nell'afflizione l'anima mia;
3 So long as I still have life in me and the breath of God is in my nostrils,	3 Fino a tanto che fiato mi resterà, o il soffio di Dio in me spirerà,
4 My lips shall not speak falsehood, nor my tongue utter deceit!	4 Le labbra mie non parleranno contro giustizia, nè menzogne inventerà la mia lingua.
5 Far be it from me to account you right; till I die I will not renounce my innocence.	5 Non sia mai che giusti io vi creda: finché io avrò vita, non lascerò in abbandono la mia innocenza.
6 My justice I maintain and I will not relinquish it; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.	6 Non rinunzicrò alla giustizia, ch'io presi a custodire; perocché di tutta la mia vita non sento rimprovero nel cuor mio.
7 Let my enemy be as the wicked and my adversary as the unjust!	7 Sia come empio il mio nimico, e il mio avversario sia come iniquo.
8 For what can the impious man expect when he is cut off, when God requires his life?	8 Imperocché qual resta speranza all'ipocrita, se dopo le avare sue rapine non libera Dio l'anima di lui?
9 Will God then attend to his cry when calamity comes upon him?	9 E forse che Dio ascolterà le suo grida quando piomberà sopra di lui l'afflizione?
10 Will he then delight in the Almighty and call upon him constantly?	10 O potrà egli trovar consolazione nell'Onnipotente, e invocare Dio in qualunque tempo?
11 I will teach you the manner of God's dealings, and the way of the Almighty I will not conceal.	11 Insegnerò a voi coll'aiuto di Dio consiglj dell'Onnipotente, non ve li nasconderò.
12 Behold, you yourselves have all seen it; why then do you spend yourselves in idle words!	12 Ma voi tutti ne siete informati; e perché adunque vi perdete inutilmente in vani discorsi.
13 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the inheritance an oppressor receives from the Almighty:	13 Ecco qual sarà la sorte, che avrà da Dio l'uomo empio, e il retaggio, che sarà assegnato dall'Onnipotente agli uomini violenti.
14 Though his children be many, the sword is their destiny. His offspring shall not be filled with bread.	14 Se molti saranno i suoi figliuoli, saranno abbandonati alla spada, e i suoi nipoti non avran pane da satollarsi.
15 His survivors, when they die, shall have no burial, and their widows shall not be mourned.	15 Quelli che resteran di sua stirpe saran sepolti prima che morti, e le vedove di lui non faran duolo.
16 Though he heap up silver like dust and store away mounds of clothing,	16 Se egli avrà, ammassato come terra l'argento, e come fango avrà preparate delle vestimenta:
17 What he has stored the just man shall wear, and the innocent shall divide the silver.	17 Egli veramente le preparerà, ma si vestirà di quelle il giusto, e l'argento sarà distribuito dall'innocente.
18 He builds his house as of cobwebs, or like a booth put up by the vine-keeper.	18 Ei si fabbricò, qual figliuola, una casa, e una capanna, come fa il guardiano di una vigna.
19 He lies down a rich man, one last time; he opens his eyes and nothing remains to him.	19 Addormentato che siasi il ricco, non porterà nulla seco; aprirà gli occhi suoi, e si troverà senza niente.
20 Terrors rush upon him by day; at night the tempest carries him off.	20 Una piena di miserie lo inonderà; sarà oppresso da notturna tempesta.
21 The storm wind seizes him and he disappears; it sweeps him out of his place.	21 Un vento avvampante lo investirà, quasi turbine lo porterà lungi dalla sua sede.
	22 E Dio si getterà sopra di lui, e non avranne pietà; ed ei tenterà di fuggire dalle sue mani.
	23 Chi getterà lo sguardo sul luogo dov'egli stava, batterà palma a palma, e faragli delle fischiate.
