KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the holy ones who are (in Ephesus) faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.2 grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:4 as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,5 he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will,
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.6 for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;7 In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;8 that he lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight,
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:10 as a plan for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:11 In him we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the one who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.12 so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,13 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.14 which is the first installment of our inheritance toward redemption as God's possession, to the praise of his glory.
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,15 Therefore, I, too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the holy ones,
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;16 do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,18 May the eyes of (your) hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,19 and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe, in accord with the exercise of his great might,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,20 which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:21 far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,22 And he put all things beneath his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.23 which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.
