1 With three things my spirit is pleased, which are approved before God and men:	1 Il mio spirito si compiace in tre cose che sono approvate da Dio e dagli uomini:
2 The concord of brethren, and the love of neighbours, and mall and wife that agree well together.	2 La concordia dei fratelli, l'amor dei vicini, un marito e una moglie che van ben d'accordo.
3 Three sorts my soul hateth, and I am greatly grieved at their life:	3 Tre specie di persone ha in odio l'anima mia e la loro esistenza mi dà gran noia:
4 A poor man that is proud: a rich man that is a liar: an old man that is a fool, and doting.	4 il povero superbo, il ricco bugiardo, il vecchio stolto e insensato.
5 The things that thou hast not gathered in thy youth, how shalt thou find them in thy old age?	5 Quello che non hai raccolto in gioventù come potrai trovartelo nella vecchiaia?
6 O how comely is judgment for a grey head, and for ancients to know counsel!	6 Quanto è bello nei capelli bianchi il giudizio, e nei vecchi il saper dare consiglio!
7 O how comely is wisdom for the aged, and understanding and counsel to men of honour!	7 Come sta bene la sapienza negli anziani, e l'intelligenza e il consiglio negli elevati a dignità!
8 Much experience is the crown of old men, and the fear of God is their glory.	8 La corona dei vecchi è la molta esperienza, e la loro gloria è il timor di Dio.
9 Nine things that are not to be imagined by the heart have I magnified, and the tenth I will utter to men with my tongue.	9 Io esalto nove cose che il cuore non può indovinare e la decima la dirò agli uomini colla lingua:
10 A man that hath joy of his children: and he that liveth and seeth the fall of his enemies.	10 un uomo che ha le sue consolazioni nei figlioli, uno che da vivo vede la rovina dei suoi nemici.
11 Blessed is he. that dwelleth with a wise woman, and that hath not slipped with his tongue, and that hath not served such as are unworthy of him.	11 Beato colui che sta con una donna di giudizio, colui che non ha peccato colla sua lingua, e che non ha servito a indegni di lui.
12 Blessed is he that findeth a true friend, and that declareth justice to an ear that heareth.	12 Beato chi ha trovato un vero amico, e chi espone la giustizia a orecchio che ascolta.
13 How great is he that findeth wisdom and knowledge! but there is none above him that feareth the Lord.	13 Quanto è grande colui che ha trovato la sapienza e la scienza! Ma nessuno è al di sopra di colui che teme il Signore.
14 The fear of God hath set itself above all things:	14 Il timore di Dio è supe riore a tutte le cose.
15 Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?	15 Beato l'uomo che ha avuto il dono del timor di Dio! Chi lo possiede a chi si potrà paragonare?
16 The fear of God is the beginning of his love: and the beginning of faith is to be fast joined unto it.	16 Il timor di Dio è il principio del suo amore, e a lui deve essere unito il principio della fede.
17 The sadness of the heart is every plague: and the wickedness of a woman is all evil.	17 La più grande piaga è la tristezza del cuore, la più grande malizia è quella della donna.
18 And a man will choose any plague, but the plague of the heart:	18 L'uomo sopporterà qualunque piaga, ma non la piaga del cuore,
19 And ally wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman:	19 e qualunque malizia, ma non la malizia della donna,
20 And any affliction, but the affliction from them that hate him:	20 e qualunque pena, ma non quella inflitta da chi odia,
21 And ally revenge, but the revenge of enemies.	21 e qualunque vendetta, ma non la vendetta dei nemici.
22 There is no head worse than the head of a serpent:	22 Non c'è veleno peggiore del ve leno del serpente,
23 And there is no anger above the anger of a woman. It will be more agreeable to abide with a lion and a dragon, than to dwell with a wicked woman.	23 e non c'è sdegno peggiore dello sdegno della donna. Vorrei stare piuttosto con un leone e con un dragone, che con una donna malvagia.
24 The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours,	24 La malvagità della donna ne cangia il volto, ne fa brutto il viso come quello d'un orso, lo fa apparire come un sacco. In mezzo ai vicini
25 Her husband groaned, and hearing he sighed a little.	25 il suo marito geme, ascolta e sospira sommessamente.
26 All malice is shore to the malice of a woman, let the lot of sinners fall upon her.	26 Ogni malizia è piccola in paragone di quella d'una donna; cada sopra di lei la sorte del peccatore.
27 As the climbing of a sandy way is to the feet of the aged, so is a wife full of tongue to a quiet man.	27 Com'è una salita sabbiosa per i piedi d'un vecchio, così è la donna linguacciuta per l'uomo tranquillo.
28 Look not upon a woman's beauty, and desire not a woman for beauty.	28 Non guardare alla bellezza della donna, non desiderare la donna per la sua bellezza.
29 A woman's anger, and impudence, and confusion is great.	29 L'ira della donna, e la spudoratezza, e la vergogna è grande.
30 A woman, if she have superiority, is contrary to her husband.	30 La donna, se ha il comando, è contraria al marito.
31 A wicked woman abateth the courage, and maketh a heavy countenance, and a wounded heart.	31 Animo abbattuto, volto triste, cuor piagato, ecco la donna cattiva.
32 Feeble hands, and disjointed knees, a woman that doth not make her husband happy.	32 Mani fiacche e ginocchia vacillanti, ecco la donna che non rende felice il marito.
33 From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die.	33 Dalla donna ebbe principio il peccato, e per lei moriamo tutti.
34 Give no issue to thy water, no, not a little: nor to a wicked woman liberty to gad abroad.	34 Non lasciare nemmeno un piccolo foro alla tua acqua, e alla donna malvagia non dare il per messo di uscire.
35 If she walk not at thy hand, she will confound thee in the sight of thy enemies.	35 Se non cammina secondo le tue direttive, ti svergognerà in faccia ai nemici.
36 Cut her off from thy flesh, lest she always abuse thee.	36 Separala dal tuo corpo, perchè non s'abusi sempre di te.
