1 With three things my spirit is pleased, which are approved before God and men:	1 Tre cose son secondo il mio cuore, le quali sono approvate da Dio, e dagli uomini.
2 The concord of brethren, and the love of neighbours, and mall and wife that agree well together.	2 La concordia de' fratelli, e l'amore de' prossimi, e un marito, e una moglie ben uniti tra loro.
3 Three sorts my soul hateth, and I am greatly grieved at their life:	3 Tre specie di persone sono in odio all'anima mia, e mi stomacano i loro costumi.
4 A poor man that is proud: a rich man that is a liar: an old man that is a fool, and doting.	4 Il povero superbo, il ricco mendace, e il vecchio stolto, e senza prudenza.
5 The things that thou hast not gathered in thy youth, how shalt thou find them in thy old age?	5 Quello, che tu non raunasti nella tua gioventù, come tel troverai nella tua vecchiezza?
6 O how comely is judgment for a grey head, and for ancients to know counsel!	6 Quanto bell'ornamento per la canizie è il saper giudicare, e pe' vecchi il saper dare consigli!
7 O how comely is wisdom for the aged, and understanding and counsel to men of honour!	7 Quanto bene sta la sapienza all'età avanzata, ed a que', che sono in dignità, l'intelligenza, e il consiglio!
8 Much experience is the crown of old men, and the fear of God is their glory.	8 Corona de' vecchi è la molta sperienza, e la loro gloria il timore di Dio.
9 Nine things that are not to be imagined by the heart have I magnified, and the tenth I will utter to men with my tongue.	9 Nove cose ho io stimato assai, e di esse nissuno avrà cattivo concetto in cuor suo, e la decima la aununzierò agli uomini colla mia lingua.
10 A man that hath joy of his children: and he that liveth and seeth the fall of his enemies.	10 Un uomo, il quale ha consolazione da' figliuoli, e uno che vive, e vede la ruina de' suoi nemici.
11 Blessed is he. that dwelleth with a wise woman, and that hath not slipped with his tongue, and that hath not served such as are unworthy of him.	11 Beato colui, che convive con una donna assennata, e quegli, che non ha peccato colla sua lingua, e quegli, che non è stato servo di persone indegne di lui.
12 Blessed is he that findeth a true friend, and that declareth justice to an ear that heareth.	12 Beato chi trova un vero amico, e chi espone la giustizia a un orecchio, che ascolta.
13 How great is he that findeth wisdom and knowledge! but there is none above him that feareth the Lord.	13 Quanto è beato chi trova la sapienza, e la scienza! ma nissuno supera colui, che teme Dio:
14 The fear of God hath set itself above all things:	14 Il timore di Dio si alza sopra tuttele cose.
15 Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?	15 Beato l'uomo, a cui è stata dato il dono del timore di Dio: chi n'ha il possesso a qual cosa mai lo paragoneremo!
16 The fear of God is the beginning of his love: and the beginning of faith is to be fast joined unto it.	16 Il timore di Dio è il principio dell'amore di lui, ma a lui dee congiuugersi il principio della fede.
17 The sadness of the heart is every plague: and the wickedness of a woman is all evil.	17 La tristezza del cuore è piaga somma; e la malvagità della donna è la somma malizia.
18 And a man will choose any plague, but the plague of the heart:	18 L'uomo tollererà qualunque piaga, ma non la piaga del cuore.
19 And ally wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman:	19 E qualunque malvagità, ma non la malvagità della donna:
20 And any affliction, but the affliction from them that hate him:	20 E qualunque afflizione, ma non quella, che viene da quelli, che odiano:
21 And ally revenge, but the revenge of enemies.	21 E qualunque pena, ma non quella, che danno i nemici.
22 There is no head worse than the head of a serpent:	22 Non v'ha testa peggiore della testa del serpente:
23 And there is no anger above the anger of a woman. It will be more agreeable to abide with a lion and a dragon, than to dwell with a wicked woman.	23 E non è sdegno peggiore di quel della donna. Vorrei piuttosto coabitare con un lione, e con un dragone, che con una donna malvagia.
24 The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours,	24 La malignità della donna cangia il suo volto, e rende fosco il suo visaggio come di un orso, ed ella diventa del colore di un sacco da duolo.
25 Her husband groaned, and hearing he sighed a little.	25 Il marito di lei in mezzo a' suoi vicini geme, e ascolta, e sospira pian piano.
26 All malice is shore to the malice of a woman, let the lot of sinners fall upon her.	26 Leggera è qualunque malizia in paragone della malizia della donna, tocchi ella in sorte a un peccatore.
27 As the climbing of a sandy way is to the feet of the aged, so is a wife full of tongue to a quiet man.	27 Quello, che è ai piedi di un vecchio il salire un monte di sabbia, lo è all'uomo tranquillo una donna linguacciuta.
28 Look not upon a woman's beauty, and desire not a woman for beauty.	28 Non badare alla beltà della donna, e non desiderare la donna per la sua bellezza.
29 A woman's anger, and impudence, and confusion is great.	29 Grande è l'ira della donna, e l'inverecondia, e la ignominia.
30 A woman, if she have superiority, is contrary to her husband.	30 Se la donna ha il comando, è ribelle al marito.
31 A wicked woman abateth the courage, and maketh a heavy countenance, and a wounded heart.	31 La mala donna affligge il cuore, attrista il volto, e impiaga il cuor del marito.
32 Feeble hands, and disjointed knees, a woman that doth not make her husband happy.	32 La donna, che non fa il marito felice, gli snerva le braccia, e gli indebolisce le ginocchia.
33 From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die.	33 Dalla donna ebbe principio il peccato, e per lei muojamo tutti.
34 Give no issue to thy water, no, not a little: nor to a wicked woman liberty to gad abroad.	34 Non lasciare un foro nemmen piccolo alla tua acqua, né alla donna malvagia la permissione di andar fuori.
35 If she walk not at thy hand, she will confound thee in the sight of thy enemies.	35 Se ella non cammina sotto la tua direzione, ella ti svergognerà in faccia a' tuoi nemici.
36 Cut her off from thy flesh, lest she always abuse thee.	36 Separala dal tuo convitto, affinchè non si prenda sempre giuoco di te.
