Proverbs 2

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and wilt hide my commandments with thee,	1 Fiam! Ha megfogadod szavaimat és megőrzöd magadnál parancsaimat,
2 That thy ear may hearken to wisdom: Incline thy heart to know prudence:	2 megnyitod füledet a bölcsességnek, és szívedet az okosság megismerésére adod,
3 For if thou shalt call for wisdom, and incline thy heart to prudence:	3 sőt, ha hívod a bölcsességet, és szívedet az okosságra hajtod,
4 If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure:	4 ha keresed azt, mint az ezüstöt, és kutatod, mint a rejtett kincset:
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.	5 akkor megérted az Úr félelmét, és megtalálod Isten tudását,
6 Because the Lord giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh prudence and knowledge.	6 mivel az Úr adja a bölcsességet, s az ő szájából származik a tudás és az értelem.
7 He will keep the salvation of the righteous, and protect them that walk in simplicity.	7 Ő rejt el üdvöt az igazak részére, és pajzsa azoknak, akik jámborságban járnak.
8 Keeping the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of saints.	8 Megvédi az igazságosság ösvényeit, és őrködik a jámborok útja fölött.
9 Then shalt thou understand justice, and judgment, and equity, and every good path.	9 Akkor megérted az igazságot és a törvényt, az egyenességet és minden helyes utat,
10 If wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge please thy soul:	10 ha szívedbe száll a bölcsesség, s a tudás örömöt nyújt lelkednek.
11 Counsel shall keep thee, and prudence shall preserve thee,	11 A megfontolás őrködik majd fölötted, s az okosság megóv téged,
12 That thou mayst be delivered from the evil way, and from the man that speaketh perverse things:	12 megment a rossz úttól, a hamisságot beszélő emberektől,
13 Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:	13 akik elhagyják az egyenes utat, hogy a sötétség ösvényein járjanak,
14 Who are glad when they have done evil, and rejoice in most wicked things:	14 akik gonosztevésben találnak örömet, és gonosz hamisságon ujjonganak,
15 Whose ways are perverse, and their steps infamous.	15 akiknek görbék az ösvényei, és elvetemültek az útjai.
16 That thou mayst be delivered from the strange women, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words:	16 Megment másnak asszonyától, az idegen nőtől, aki beszédeivel hízeleg,
17 And forsaketh the guide of her youth,	17 cserbenhagyja ifjúkora bizalmasát,
18 And hath forgotten the covenant of her God: for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths to hell.	18 és megfeledkezik Isten szerződéséről, mert háza a halálba hanyatlik, és útjai az alvilágba vezetnek.
19 None that go in unto her shall return again, neither shall they take hold of the paths of life,	19 Mind, akik bemennek hozzá, nem térnek vissza, és nem találják meg az élet útjait;
20 That thou mayst walk in a good way: and mayst keep the paths of the just.	20 hogy a jó úton járj és az igazak ösvényeit kövesd,
21 For they that are upright shall dwell in the earth, and the simple shall continue in it.	21 mert az igazak lakják majd a földet, s a jámborok maradnak meg rajta,
22 But the wicked shall be destroyed from the earth: and they that do unjustly shall be taken away from it.	22 a gonoszok pedig elvesznek a földről, s a hűtleneket kitépik belőle.
