Psalms 118

DOUAI-RHEIMS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Give praise to Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, for his faithful love endures for ever.
2 Let Israel now say that he is good: that his mercy endureth for ever.	2 Let the House of Israel say, 'His faithful love endures for ever.'
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.	3 Let the House of Aaron say, 'His faithful love endures for ever.'
4 Let them that fear the Lord now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.	4 Let those who fear Yahweh say, 'His faithful love endures for ever.'
5 In my trouble I called upon the Lord: and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me.	5 In my distress I called to Yahweh, he heard me and brought me relief.
6 The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man can do unto me.	6 With Yahweh on my side I fear nothing; what can human beings do to me?
7 The Lord is my helper: and I will look over my enemies.	7 With Yahweh on my side as my help, I gloat over my enemies.
8 It is good to confide in the Lord, rather than to have confidence in man.	8 It is better to take refuge in Yahweh than to rely on human beings;
9 It is good to trust in the Lord, rather than to trust in princes.	9 better to take refuge in Yahweh than to rely on princes.
10 All nations compassed me about; and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.	10 Nations were swarming around me, in the name of Yahweh I cut them down;
11 Surrounding me they compassed me about: and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.	11 they swarmed around me, pressing upon me, in the name of Yahweh I cut them down.
12 They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: and in the name of the Lord I was revenged on them	12 They swarmed around me like bees, they flared up like a brushwood fire, in the name of Yahweh Icut them down.
13 Being pushed I was overturned that I might fall: but the Lord supported me.	13 I was pushed hard, to make me fal , but Yahweh came to my help.
14 The Lord is my strength and my praise: and he is become my salvation.	14 Yahweh is my strength and my song, he has been my Saviour.
15 The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just.	15 Shouts of joy and salvation, in the tents of the upright, 'Yahweh's right hand is triumphant,
16 The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right hand of the Lord hath exulted me: the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.	16 Yahweh's right hand is victorious, Yahweh's right hand is triumphant!'
17 I shall not die, but live: and shall declare the works of the Lord.	17 I shal not die, I shal live to recount the great deeds of Yahweh.
18 The Lord chastising hath chastised me: but he hath not delivered me over to death.	18 Though Yahweh punished me sternly, he has not abandoned me to death.
19 Open ye to me the gates of justice: I will go into them, and give praise to the Lord.	19 Open for me the gates of saving justice, I shal go in and thank Yahweh.
20 This is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it.	20 This is the gate of Yahweh, where the upright go in.
21 I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: and art become my salvation.	21 I thank you for hearing me, and making yourself my Saviour.
22 The stone which the builders rejected; the same is become the head of the corner.	22 The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;
23 This is the Lord's doing: and it is wonderful in our eyes.	23 This is Yahweh's doing, and we marvel at it.
24 This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein.	24 This is the day which Yahweh has made, a day for us to rejoice and be glad.
25 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success.	25 We beg you, Yahweh, save us, we beg you, Yahweh, give us victory!
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name Lord. We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.	26 Blessed in the name of Yahweh is he who is coming! We bless you from the house of Yahweh.
27 The Lord is God, and he hath shone upon us. Appoint a solemn day, with shady boughs, even to the horn of the alter.	27 Yahweh is God, he gives us light. Link your processions, branches in hand, up to the horns of thealtar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, and I will exalt thee. I will praise thee, because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.	28 You are my God, I thank you, al praise to you, my God. I thank you for hearing me, and makingyourself my Saviour.
