DOUAI-RHEIMSLXX
Job also added, taking up his parable, and said:1 ετι δε προσθεις ιωβ ειπεν τω προοιμιω
Who will grant me, that I might be according to the months past, according to the days in which God kept me?2 τις αν με θειη κατα μηνα εμπροσθεν ημερων ων με ο θεος εφυλαξεν
When his lamp shined over my head, and I walked by his light in darkness?3 ως οτε ηυγει ο λυχνος αυτου υπερ κεφαλης μου οτε τω φωτι αυτου επορευομην εν σκοτει
As I was in the days of my youth, when God was secretly in my tabernacle?4 οτε ημην επιβριθων οδοις οτε ο θεος επισκοπην εποιειτο του οικου μου
When the Almighty was with me: and my servants round about me?5 οτε ημην υλωδης λιαν κυκλω δε μου οι παιδες
When I washed my feet with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil?6 οτε εχεοντο μου αι οδοι βουτυρω τα δε ορη μου εχεοντο γαλακτι
When I went out to the gate of the city, and in the street they prepared me a chair?7 οτε εξεπορευομην ορθριος εν πολει εν δε πλατειαις ετιθετο μου ο διφρος
The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the old men rose up and stood.8 ιδοντες με νεανισκοι εκρυβησαν πρεσβυται δε παντες εστησαν
The princes ceased to speak, and laid the finger on their mouth.9 αδροι δε επαυσαντο λαλουντες δακτυλον επιθεντες επι στοματι
The rulers held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to their throat.10 οι δε ακουσαντες εμακαρισαν με και γλωσσα αυτων τω λαρυγγι αυτων εκολληθη
The ear that heard me blessed me, and the eye that saw me gave witness to me:11 οτι ους ηκουσεν και εμακαρισεν με οφθαλμος δε ιδων με εξεκλινεν
Because I had delivered the poor man that cried out; and the fatherless that had no helper.12 διεσωσα γαρ πτωχον εκ χειρος δυναστου και ορφανω ω ουκ ην βοηθος εβοηθησα
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, and I comforted the heart of the widow.13 ευλογια απολλυμενου επ' εμε ελθοι στομα δε χηρας με ευλογησεν
I was clad with justice: and I clothed myself with my judgment, as with a robe and a diadem.14 δικαιοσυνην δε ενεδεδυκειν ημφιασαμην δε κριμα ισα διπλοιδι
I was an eye to the blind, and a foot to the lame.15 οφθαλμος ημην τυφλων πους δε χωλων
I was the father of the poor: and the cause which I knew not, I searched out most diligently.16 εγω ημην πατηρ αδυνατων δικην δε ην ουκ ηδειν εξιχνιασα
I broke the jaws of the wicked man, and out of his teeth I took away the prey.17 συνετριψα δε μυλας αδικων εκ δε μεσου των οδοντων αυτων αρπαγμα εξεσπασα
And I said: I shall die in my nest, and as a palm tree shall multiply my days.18 ειπα δε η ηλικια μου γηρασει ωσπερ στελεχος φοινικος πολυν χρονον βιωσω
My root is opened beside the waters, and dew shall continue in my harvest.19 η ριζα μου διηνοικται επι υδατος και δροσος αυλισθησεται εν τω θερισμω μου
My glory shall always be renewed, and my bow in my hand shall be repaired.20 η δοξα μου καινη μετ' εμου και το τοξον μου εν χειρι αυτου πορευσεται
They that heard me, waited for my sentence, and being attentive held their peace at my counsel.21 εμου ακουσαντες προσεσχον εσιωπησαν δε επι τη εμη βουλη
To my words they durst add nothing, and my speech dropped upon them.22 επι δε τω εμω ρηματι ου προσεθεντο περιχαρεις δε εγινοντο οποταν αυτοις ελαλουν
They waited for me as for rain, and they opened their mouth as for a latter shower.23 ωσπερ γη διψωσα προσδεχομενη τον υετον ουτως ουτοι την εμην λαλιαν
If at any time I laughed on them, they believed not, and the light of my countenance fell not on earth.24 εαν γελασω προς αυτους ου μη πιστευσωσιν και φως του προσωπου μου ουκ απεπιπτεν
If I had a mind to go to them, I sat first, and when I sat as a king, with his army standing about him, yet I was a comforter of them that mourned.25 εξελεξαμην οδον αυτων και εκαθισα αρχων και κατεσκηνουν ωσει βασιλευς εν μονοζωνοις ον τροπον παθεινους παρακαλων
