| 2 e a Ápia, nossa irmã, e a Arquipo, nosso companheiro de armas, e à igreja que se reúne em tua casa: | 2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house: |
| 3 graça a vós e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai e do Senhor Jesus Cristo. | 3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 4 Dou graças ao meu Deus, sempre que faço memória de ti nas minhas orações, | 4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, |
| 5 por saber da tua caridade e da fé que manifestas para com o Senhor Jesus e para com todos os santos. | 5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; |
| 6 Possa a generosidade da tua fé tornar-se eficaz pelo conhecimento de todas as obras boas que se fazem entre nós por amor de Jesus Cristo. | 6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. |
| 7 De facto, tive grande alegria e consolação pela tua caridade, porquanto os corações dos santos foram confortados por ti, irmão. | 7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. |
| 8 Pelo que, ainda que eu tenha muita liberdade em Jesus Cristo para te mandar o que convém, | 8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient, |
| 9 prefiro pedir-te por caridade (não te mando). Eu, Paulo, o velho Paulo, e atualmente até prisioneiro de Jesus Cristo, | 9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ. |
| 10 venho rogar-te por meu filho Onésimo, que gerei nas prisões (convertendo-o a Cristo), | 10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds: |
| 11 o qual outrora te foi inútil, mas agora é muito útil para ti e para mim. | 11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me: |
| 12 De novo to mando, a ele, que é como o meu próprio coração. | 12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels: |
| 13 Eu queria demorá-lo comigo, para que me servisse, em teu lugar, nestas cadeias, que eu suporto pelo Evangelho, | 13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel: |
| 14 mas, sem o teu consentimento, nada quis fazer, para que o teu benefício não fosse como que forçado, mas voluntário. | 14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly. |
| 15 Porque talvez ele (por permissão de Deus) se apartou de ti por algum tempo, para que tu (pela sua conversão a Cristo) o recobrasses para sempre, | 15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever; |
| 16 não já como um escravo, mas, muito mais que um escravo, como um irmão caríssimo. Ele fez tudo por mim, quanto mais não fará por ti, não só segundo a carne, mas também segundo o Senhor! | 16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord? |
| 17 Portanto, se me tens por íntimo, recebe-o como a mim. | 17 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself. |
| 18 Se algum dano te fez ou te deve alguma coisa, passa isso para a minha conta. | 18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account; |
| 19 Eu, Paulo, escrevi por meu próprio punho: eu pagarei. Não te quero lembrar que és meu devedor, e que me deves a tua própria pessoa (porque te converti, pondo-te no caminho da salvação). | 19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides. |
| 20 Sim, irmão. Obtenha eu de ti esta satisfação no Senhor. Recreia o meu coração em Cristo. | 20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord. |
| 21 Escrevi-te estas coisas, contando com a tua docilidade, sabendo que farás ainda mais do que peço. | 21 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say. |
| 22 A o mesmo tempo prepara-me pousada, pois pelas vossas orações, serei dado a vós. | 22 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you. |
| 23 Epafras, que está preso comigo por Jesus Cristo, saúda-te, | 23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus; |
| 24 e igualmente Marcos, Aristarco, Demas e Lucas, meus colaboradores. | 24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers. |
| 25 A graça de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com o vosso espírito. | 25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
