| 1 Vendo (Jesus) aquelas multidões, subiu a um monte, e, tendo-se sentado, aproximaram-se dele os discípulos. | 1 When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. |
| 2 Abrindo então a sua boca, os ensinava, dizendo: | 2 He began to teach them, saying: |
| 3 "Bem-aventurados os pobres de espírito, porque deles é o reino dos céus. | 3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 4 Bem-aventurados os mansos, porque possuirão a Terra. | 4 Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. |
| 5 Bem-aventurados os que choram, porque serão consolados. | 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. |
| 6 Bem-aventurados os que têm fome e sede da justiça, porque serão saciados. | 6 Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. |
| 7 Bem-aventurados os misericordiosos, porque alcançarão misericórdia. | 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. |
| 8 Bem-aventurados os puros de coração, porque verão a Deus. | 8 Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. |
| 9 Bem-aventurados os pacíficos, porque serão chamados filhos de Deus. | 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. |
| 10 Bem-aventurados os que sofrem perseguição por amor da justiça, porque deles é o reino dos céus. | 10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 11 Bem-aventurados sereis, quando vos insultarem, vos perseguirem, e disserem falsamente toda a sorte de mal contra vós por causa de mim. | 11 Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. |
| 12 Alegrai-vos e exultai, porque será grande a vossa recompensa nos céus, pois (também) assim perseguiram os profetas, que existiram antes de vós. | 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you. |
| 13 Vós sois o sal da terra. Porém, se o sal perder a sua força, com que será ele salgado? Para nada mais serve senão para ser lançado fora e calcado pelos homens. | 13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. |
| 14 Vós sois a luz do mundo. Não pode esconder-se uma cidade situada sobre um monte; | 14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. |
| 15 nem se acende uma lucerna, e se põe debaixo do alqueire, mas sobre o candeeiro, a fim de que dê luz a todos os que estão em casa. | 15 Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. |
| 16 Assim brilhe a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras, e glorifiquem o vosso Pai, que está nos céus. | 16 Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. |
| 17 Não julgueis que vim abolir a lei ou os profetas; não vim (para os) abolir, mas sim (para os) cumprir. | 17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. |
| 18 Porque em verdade vos digo: antes passarão o céu e a terra, que passe da lei um só jota ou um ápice, sem que tudo seja cumprido. | 18 Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. |
| 19 Aquele, pois, que violar um destes mandamentos, mesmo dos mais pequenos, e ensinar assim aos homens, será considerado o mais pequeno no reino dos céus; mas o que os guardar e ensinar, esse será considerado grande no reino dos céus. | 19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven. |
| 20 Porque eu vos digo que, se a vossa justiça não exceder a dos escribas e a dos fariseus, não entrareis no reino dos céus. | 20 I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 21 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não matarás (Ex. 20, 13...), e quem matar será submetido ao juízo do tribunal. | 21 "You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.' |
| 22 Pois eu digo-vos que todo aquele que se irar contra o seu irmão, será submetido ao juízo do tribunal. E o que chamar "raca" a seu irmão será condenado pelo Sinédrio. E o que lhe chamar louco, será condenado ao fogo da geena. | 22 But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna. |
| 23 Portanto, se estás para fazer a tua oferta diante do altar, e te lembrares aí que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti. | 23 Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, |
| 24 deixa lá a tua oferta diante do altar, e vai reconciliar-te primeiro com teu irmão, e depois vem fazer a tua oferta. | 24 leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. |
| 25 Acomoda-te sem demora com o teu adversário, enquanto estás em caminho com ele, para que não suceda que esse adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao seu ministro, e sejas posto em prisão. | 25 Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. |
| 26 Em verdade te digo: Não sairás de lá antes de ter pago o último quadrante. | 26 Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny. |
| 27 Ouvistes que foi dito: Não cometerás adultério (Ex. 20, 14). | 27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' |
| 28 Eu, porém, digo-vos que todo o que olhar para uma mulher, cobiçando-a, já cometeu adultério com ela no seu coração. | 28 But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. |
| 29 Por isso, o teu olho direito é para ti causa de queda, arranca-o e lança-o para longe de ti, porque é melhor para ti que se perca um dos teus membros, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado na geena. | 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna. |
| 30 E, se a tua mão direita é para ti causa de queda, corta-a e lança-a para longe de ti, porque é melhor para ti que se perca um dos teus membros, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado na geena. | 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into Gehenna. |
| 31 Também foi dito: Aquele que repudiar sua mulher, dê-lhe libelo de repúdio (Dt. 24, 1). | 31 "It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a bill of divorce.' |
| 32 Eu, porém, digo-vos: todo aquele que repudiar sua mulher, a não ser por causa de fornicação, expõe-na ao adultério; e o que desposar a (mulher) repudiada, comete adultério. | 32 But I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. |
| 33 Igualmente ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não perjurarás, mas guardarás para com o Senhor os teus juramentos (Ex. 20, 7 ...) . | 33 "Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, 'Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.' |
| 34 Eu, porém, digo-vos que não jureis de modo algum (sem motivo justo), nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus; | 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God's throne; |
| 35 nem pela terra, porque é o escabelo de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande rei. | 35 nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. |
| 36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, pois não podes fazer branco ou negro um só dos teus cabelos. | 36 Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. |
| 37 Seja o vosso falar: Sim. sim; não não. Tudo o que disto passa, procede do Maligno. | 37 Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.' Anything more is from the evil one. |
| 38 Ouvistes que foi dito: Olho por olho, e dente por dente (Lv. 24, 19-20). | 38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' |
| 39 Eu, porém, digo-vos que não resistais ao (que é) mau; mas, se alguém te ferir na tua face direita, apresenta-lhe também a outra; | 39 But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on (your) right cheek, turn the other one to him as well. |
| 40 e ao que quer chamar-te a juízo para te tirar a túnica, cede-Ihe também a capa. | 40 If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic, hand him your cloak as well. |
| 41 Se alguém te forçar a dar mil passos, vai com ele mais dois mil. | 41 Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles. |
| 42 Dá a quem te pede, e não voltes as costas ao que deseja que lhe emprestes. | 42 Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. |
| 43 Ouvistes que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo (Lv. 19, 18) e aborrecerás o teu inimigo. | 43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' |
| 44 Eu, porém, digo-vos: Amai os vossos inimigos, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, e orai pelos que vos maltratam e vos perseguem. | 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, |
| 45 Deste modo sereis filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus, o qual faz nascer o sol sobre maus e bons, e manda a chuva sobre os justos e injustos. | 45 that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. |
| 46 Porque, se amais (sòmente) os que vos amara, que recompensa haveis de ter? Não fazem os publicanos também o mesmo? | 46 For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? |
| 47 E se saudardes sòmente os vossos irmãos, que fazeis (nisso) de especial? Não fazem também assim os próprios gentios? | 47 And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? |
| 48 Sede pois perfeitos, como vosso Pai celestial é perfeito. | 48 So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. |
