| 1 Eu disse: Ouvi, príncipes de Jacob e chefes da casa de Israel: Porventura não é a vós que pertence saber o que é justo? | 1 And I said: Hear, you leaders of Jacob, rulers of the house of Israel! Is it not your duty to know what is right, |
| 2 Não obstante isso, aborreceis o bem e achais o mal; arrancais a pele (ao povo) e a carne de cima dos seus ossos. | 2 you who hate what is good, and love evil? You who tear their skin from them, and their flesh from their bones! |
| 3 Comem a carne do meu povo, arrancam-lhe a pele, quebram-lhe os ossos, partem-no como (carne) para por num tacho como carne para dentro duma panela. | 3 They eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from them, and break their bones. They chop them in pieces like flesh in a kettle, and like meat in a caldron. |
| 4 Um dia clamarão ao Senhor, e ele não os ouvirá; esconder-lhes-á a sua face nesse tempo, como o merece a iniquidade das suas acções. | 4 When they cry to the LORD, he shall not answer them; Rather shall he hide his face from them at that time, because of the evil they have done. |
| 5 Isto diz o Senhor acerca dos (falsos) profetas que seduzem o meu povo, que, quando têm alguma coisa para mastigar, pregam a paz, e, àquele que não lhes põe na boca coisa alguma, declaram a guerra. | 5 Thus says the LORD regarding the prophets who lead my people astray; Who, when their teeth have something to bite, announce peace, But when one fails to put something in their mouth, proclaim war against him. |
| 6 Por Isso, em lugar de visões, tereis a noite, e as trevas em vez de revelação; por-se-á o sol para estes profetas, para eles se obscurecerá o dia. | 6 Therefore you shall have night, not vision, darkness, not divination; The sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be dark for them. |
| 7 Serão confundidos os videntes, cobrir-se-ão de vergonha os adivinhos; todos esconderão a barba, porque não haverá resposta de Deus (para eles). | 7 Then shall the seers be put to shame, and the diviners confounded; They shall cover their lips, all of them, because there is no answer from God. |
| 8 Pelo que toca a mim, contudo, estou cheio da força do espírito do Senhor, da justiça e do vigor, para anunciar a Jacob a sua maldade, e a Israel o seu pecado. | 8 But as for me, I am filled with power, with the spirit of the LORD, with authority and with might; To declare to Jacob his crimes and to Israel his sins. |
| 9 Ouvi isto, príncipes da casa de Jacob e juízes da casa de Israel, vós que abominais a justiça e perverteis tudo o que ó recto, | 9 Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel! You who abhor what is just, and pervert all that is right; |
| 10 edificando Sião com sangue, e Jerusalém com a iniquidade. | 10 Who build up Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness! |
| 11 Os seus príncipes dão as sentenças por presentes, os seus sacerdotes decidem por interesse, os seus profetas adivinham por dinheiro; e (não obstante) apoiam-se no Senhor, dizendo: Não está o Senhor no meio de nós? A desgraça não virá sobre nós. | 11 Her leaders render judgment for a bribe, her priests give decisions for a salary, her prophets divine for money, While they rely on the LORD, saying, "Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No evil can come upon us!" |
| 12 Em conseqüência disto, por vossa causa será lavrada Sião como um campo, Jerusalém será reduzida a um montão de pedras, e o monte do templo tornar-se-á como um cume brenhoso. | 12 Therefore, because of you, Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem reduced to rubble, And the mount of the temple to a forest ridge. |
