| 1 Ouvi a palavra que o Senhor pronunciou a respeito de vós, filhos de Israel - a respeito de todo o povo, diz o Senhor, que tirei da terra do Egito - : | 1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt: |
| 2 De todas as raças da terra, só a vós vos reconheci (como meu povo); por isso vos castigarei por todas as vossas iniquidades. | 2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings. |
| 3 Porventura andarão dois homens juntos, sem que estejam de acordo? | 3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so? |
| 4 Porventura rugirá o leão nos bosques, sem que tenha achado alguma presa? Porventura fará o leãozinho soar a sua voz no covil, sem que tenha lançado a garra a alguma coisa? | 4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing? |
| 5 Porventura cairá uma ave no laço posto na terra, sem que haja quem lho arme? Porventura levantar-se-á da terra o laço, antes que tenha apanhado alguma coisa? | 5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something? |
| 6 Soará a trombeta (de guerra) numa cidade, sem que o povo se assuste? Acontecerá alguma calamidade numa cidade, que não seja por disposição do Senhor? | 6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it? |
| 7 Porque o Senhor Deus não faz nada sem revelar o seu segredo aos seus servos, os profetas. | 7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. |
| 8 O leão ruge; quem não temerá? O Senhor Deus falou; quem não profetizará? | 8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy? |
| 9 Fazei ouvir isto nos palácios (dos Filisteus) de Azot e nos palácios da terra do Egito. Dizei: Juntai-vos sobre os montes de Samaria e vede quantas desordens há no meio dela, que violências se praticam no seu interior. | 9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!' |
| 10 Não sabem agir retamente, diz o Senhor, eles que amontoam em suas casas tesouros de violências e de rapinas. | 10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion. |
| 11 Portanto isto diz o Senhor Deus: Eis o inimigo a cercar o país. Tirar-te-á a tua força (ó Samaria), e os teus palácios serão saqueados. | 11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted. |
| 12 Isto diz o Senhor: Como acontece quando um pastor chega a arrancar da boca do leão as duas pernas, silvos, ou a ponta de uma orelha (da rês que devora), assim serão livrados (dos Assirios) os filhos de Israel que habitam em Samaria. descansados no ângulo dum leito, ou numa cama em Damasco. | 12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus. |
