1 Yahvé déteste la balance fausse, le poids juste lui est agréable.	1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
2 Aujourd’hui l’arrogance, demain la honte: la sagesse était chez les modestes.	2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
3 L’intégrité se charge de guider les hommes droits; la perversité mène les impies à la ruine.	3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Au jour de la Colère la richesse ne servira de rien, mais l’honnêteté délivrera de la mort.	4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
5 À l’homme intègre la droiture ouvre un chemin droit; les méchants se prendront à leur propre malice.	5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 Les hommes droits se sauvent grâce à leur justice, mais les impies sont pris à leur propre convoitise.	6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
7 Quand vient la mort, plus d’espoir pour l’impie; la sécurité que lui donnait sa fortune a disparu.	7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
8 Le juste sera délivré du danger, un méchant y tombera à sa place.	8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
9 L’impie parle de façon à ruiner son prochain; les justes y échapperont par leur clairvoyance.	9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
10 Quand les justes ont le dessus, la ville est dans la joie; quand les méchants sont ruinés, c’est la fête.	10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 La ville prospérera si les gens honnêtes la bénissent; sa ruine viendra des intrigues des méchants.	11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 L’homme sans cœur dénigre son prochain, l’homme avisé garde le silence.	12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13 Le rapporteur révèle les secrets; qui mérite confiance garde le secret.	13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
14 Faute de direction, le peuple est à la dérive; le salut dépend du nombre de conseillers.	14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety.
15 Qui se porte garant pour un étranger risque gros; celui qui s’en abstient sera en sécurité.	15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
16 Une femme aimable se taille une réputation, des hommes énergiques se montent une fortune.	16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
17 En étant généreux on se fait du bien, celui qui est dur blesse sa propre chair.	17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18 Le salaire du méchant le décevra; celui qui sème le bien, sa récompense est assurée.	18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
19 La vie droite procure la vie, qui a choisi le mal va à la mort.	19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
20 Yahvé déteste l’homme corrompu, ceux qui restent intègres ont sa faveur.	20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
21 Le méchant ne restera jamais impuni, mais la descendance des justes sera sauvée.	21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22 Une jolie femme dépourvue de bon sens, c’est un anneau d’or au nez d’un cochon.	22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
23 Les justes ne désirent que le bien; les méchants ont aussi leurs espoirs, mais ils vont à l’échec.	23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 L’un dépense largement et il s’enrichit, l’autre économise et il s’appauvrit.	24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
25 Celui qui est généreux sera rassasié, celui qui arrose sera arrosé.	25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26 Le peuple maudit celui qui accapare le blé; on bénit celui qui vend son grain.	26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27 Qui cherche à bien faire sera béni; si quelqu’un poursuit le mal, le mal l’atteindra.	27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28 Celui qui compte sur ses richesses tombera, tandis que les justes verront croître leur ramure.	28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
29 Qui ne sait ordonner sa maison n’héritera que du vent; le sot terminera au service du sage.	29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 Le fruit du juste est un arbre de vie; les méchants seront arrachés avant le temps.	30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
31 Oui, le juste reçoit son dû sur cette terre, et combien plus le méchant et le pécheur!	31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
