Apocalypsis 22

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et ostendit mihi fluvium aquæ vitæ, splendidum tamquam crystallum, procedentem de sede Dei et Agni.	1 Then the angel showed me the river of life, rising from the throne of God and of the Lamb and flowingcrystal-clear.
2 In medio plateæ ejus, et ex utraque parte fluminis, lignum vitæ, afferens fructus duodecim per menses singulos, reddens fructum suum et folia ligni ad sanitatem gentium.	2 Down the middle of the city street, on either bank of the river were the trees of life, which bear twelvecrops of fruit in a year, one in each month, and the leaves of which are the cure for the nations.
3 Et omne maledictum non erit amplius : sed sedes Dei et Agni in illa erunt, et servi ejus servient illi.	3 The curse of destruction will be abolished. The throne of God and of the Lamb wil be in the city; hisservants will worship him,
4 Et videbunt faciem ejus : et nomen ejus in frontibus eorum.	4 they wil see him face to face, and his name wil be written on their foreheads.
5 Et nox ultra non erit : et non egebunt lumine lucernæ, neque lumine solis, quoniam Dominus Deus illuminabit illos, et regnabunt in sæcula sæculorum.	5 And night will be abolished; they will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will beshining on them. They wil reign for ever and ever.
6 Et dixit mihi : Hæc verba fidelissima sunt, et vera. Et Dominus Deus spirituum prophetarum misit angelum suum ostendere servis suis quæ oportet fieri cito.	6 The angel said to me, 'Al that you have written is sure and wil come true: the Lord God who inspiresthe prophets has sent his angel to reveal to his servants what is soon to take place.
7 Et ecce venio velociter. Beatus, qui custodit verba prophetiæ libri hujus.	7 I am coming soon!' Blessed are those who keep the prophetic message of this book.
8 Et ego Joannes, qui audivi, et vidi hæc. Et postquam audissem, et vidissem, cecidi ut adorarem ante pedes angeli, qui mihi hæc ostendebat :	8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I had heard and seen them all, I knelt atthe feet of the angel who had shown them to me, to worship him;
9 et dixit mihi : Vide ne feceris : conservus enim tuus sum, et fratrum tuorum prophetarum, et eorum qui servant verba prophetiæ libri hujus : Deum adora.	9 but he said, 'Do no such thing: I am your fel ow-servant and the fel ow-servant of your brothers theprophets and those who keep the message of this book. God alone you must worship.'
10 Et dicit mihi : Ne signaveris verba prophetiæ libri hujus : tempus enim prope est.	10 This, too, he said to me, 'Do not keep the prophecies in this book a secret, because the Time isclose.
11 Qui nocet, noceat adhuc : et qui in sordibus est, sordescat adhuc : et qui justus est, justificetur adhuc : et sanctus, sanctificetur adhuc.	11 Meanwhile let the sinner continue sinning, and the unclean continue to be unclean; let the uprightcontinue in his uprightness, and those who are holy continue to be holy.
12 Ecce venio cito, et merces mea mecum est, reddere unicuique secundum opera sua.	12 Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to repay everyone as their deeds deserve.
13 Ego sum alpha et omega, primus et novissimus, principium et finis.	13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 Beati, qui lavant stolas suas in sanguine Agni : ut sit potestas eorum in ligno vitæ, et per portas intrent in civitatem.	14 Blessed are those who wil have washed their robes clean, so that they wil have the right to feed onthe tree of life and can come through the gates into the city.
15 Foris canes, et venefici, et impudici, et homicidæ, et idolis servientes, et omnis qui amat et facit mendacium.	15 Others must stay outside: dogs, fortune-tel ers, and the sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, andeveryone of false speech and false life.'
16 Ego Jesus misi angelum meum testificari vobis hæc in ecclesiis. Ego sum radix, et genus David, stella splendida et matutina.	16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to attest these things to you for the sake of the churches. I am the sprigfrom the root of David and the bright star of the morning.
17 Et spiritus, et sponsa dicunt : Veni. Et qui audit, dicat : Veni. Et qui sitit, veniat : et qui vult, accipiat aquam vitæ, gratis.	17 The Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come!' Let everyone who listens answer, 'Come!' Then let al who arethirsty come: all who want it may have the water of life, and have it free.
18 Contestor enim omni audienti verba prophetiæ libri hujus : si quis apposuerit ad hæc, apponet Deus super illum plagas scriptas in libro isto.	18 This is my solemn attestation to al who hear the prophecies in this book: if anyone adds anything tothem, God wil add to him every plague mentioned in the book;
19 Et si quis diminuerit de verbis libri prophetiæ hujus, auferet Deus partem ejus de libro vitæ, et de civitate sancta, et de his quæ scripta sunt in libro isto :	19 if anyone cuts anything out of the prophecies in this book, God wil cut off his share of the tree of life and of the holy city, which are described in the book.
20 dicit qui testimonium perhibet istorum. Etiam venio cito : amen. Veni, Domine Jesu.	20 The one who attests these things says: I am indeed coming soon. Amen; come, Lord Jesus.
21 Gratia Domini nostri Jesu Christi cum omnibus vobis. Amen.	21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you al . Amen.
