Zachariæ 3

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et ostendit mihi Dominus Jesum sacerdotem magnum, stantem coram angelo Domini : et Satan stabat a dextris ejus ut adversaretur ei.	1 He then showed me the high priest Joshua, standing before the angel of Yahweh, with Satan standingon his right to accuse him.
2 Et dixit Dominus ad Satan : Increpet Dominus in te, Satan ! et increpet Dominus in te, qui elegit Jerusalem ! numquid non iste torris est erutus de igne ?	2 The angel of Yahweh said to Satan, 'May Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! May Yahweh rebuke you, sincehe has made Jerusalem his choice. Is not this man a brand snatched from the fire?'
3 Et Jesus erat indutus vestibus sordidis, et stabat ante faciem angeli.	3 Now Joshua was dressed in dirty clothes as he stood before the angel.
4 Qui respondit, et ait ad eos qui stabant coram se, dicens : Auferte vestimenta sordida ab eo. Et dixit ad eum : Ecce abstuli a te iniquitatem tuam, et indui te mutatoriis.	4 The latter then spoke as fol ows to those who were standing before him, 'Take off his dirty clothesanddress him in splendid robes
5 Et dixit : Ponite cidarim mundam super caput ejus. Et posuerunt cidarim mundam super caput ejus, et induerunt eum vestibus : et angelus Domini stabat.	5 and put a clean turban on his head.' So they put a clean turban on his head and dressed him in cleanclothes, while the angel of Yahweh stood byand said, 'You see, I have taken your guilt away.'
6 Et contestabatur angelus Domini Jesum, dicens :	6 The angel of Yahweh then made this declaration to Joshua,
7 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Si in viis meis ambulaveris, et custodiam meam custodieris, tu quoque judicabis domum meam, et custodies atria mea, et dabo tibi ambulantes de his qui nunc hic assistunt.	7 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "If you walk in my ways and keep my ordinances, you shal govern myhouse, you shal watch over my courts, and I wil give you free access among those in attendance here.
8 Audi, Jesu sacerdos magne, tu et amici tui, qui habitant coram te, quia viri portendentes sunt : ecce enim ego adducam servum meum Orientem.	8 'So listen, High Priest Joshua, you and the colleagues over whom you preside -- for they are an omenof things to come -- for now I shal bring in my servant the Branch, and I shal remove this country's guilt in asingle day.
9 Quia ecce lapis quem dedi coram Jesu : super lapidem unum septem oculi sunt : ecce ego cælabo sculpturam ejus, ait Dominus exercituum, et auferam iniquitatem terræ illius in die una.	9 For this is the stone which I have put before Joshua, a stone on which are seven eyes; and I myselfshall cut the inscription on it -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares."
10 In die illa, dicit Dominus exercituum, vocabit vir amicum suum subter vitem et subter ficum.	10 On that day -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- invite each other to come under your vine and your figtree." '
