VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
Ecce venient dies Domini, et dividentur spolia tua in medio tui.1 Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, when the spoils taken from you will be shared out among you.
Et congregabo omnes gentes ad Jerusalem in prælium : et capietur civitas, et vastabuntur domus, et mulieres violabuntur : et egredietur media pars civitatis in captivitatem, et reliquum populi non auferetur ex urbe.2 For I shal gather al the nations to Jerusalem for battle. The city wil be taken, the houses plundered, the women ravished. Half the city wil go into exile, but the rest of the people wil not be ejected from the city.
Et egredietur Dominus, et præliabitur contra gentes illas, sicut præliatus est in die certaminis.3 Then Yahweh wil sal y out and fight those nations as once he fought on the day of battle.
When that day comes, his feet will rest on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives wil be split in half from east to west, forming a huge val ey; half the Mount will recedenorthwards, the other half southwards.
Et fugietis ad vallem montium eorum, quoniam conjungetur vallis montium usque ad proximum : et fugietis sicut fugistis a facie terræmotus in diebus Oziæ regis Juda : et veniet Dominus Deus meus, omnesque sancti cum eo.5 The valley between the hills wil be fil ed in, yes, it will be blocked as far as Jasol, it wil be fil ed in as it was by the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. And Yahweh my God will come, and al the holyones with him.
Et erit in die illa : non erit lux, sed frigus et gelu.6 That Day, there wil be no light, but only cold and frost.
Et erit dies una quæ nota est Domino, non dies neque nox : et in tempore vesperi erit lux.7 And it wil be one continuous day -- Yahweh knows -- there will be no more day and night, and it wilremain light right into the time of evening.
Et erit in die illa : exibunt aquæ vivæ de Jerusalem : medium earum ad mare orientale, et medium earum ad mare novissimum : in æstate et in hieme erunt.8 When that Day comes, living waters wil issue from Jerusalem, half towards the eastern sea, halftowards the western sea; they will flow summer and winter.
Et erit Dominus rex super omnem terram : in die illa erit Dominus unus, et erit nomen ejus unum.9 Then Yahweh wil become king of the whole world. When that Day comes, Yahweh will be the one andonly and his name the one name.
Et revertetur omnis terra usque ad desertum, de colle Remmon ad austrum Jerusalem : et exaltabitur, et habitabit in loco suo, a porta Benjamin usque ad locum portæ prioris, et usque ad portam angulorum, et a turre Hananeel usque ad torcularia regis.10 The entire country wil be transformed into plain, from Geba to Rimmon in the Negeb, but Jerusalemwil stand high in her place and be full of people from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the earlier gate, to theCorner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's wine-presses.
Et habitabunt in ea, et anathema non erit amplius, sed sedebit Jerusalem secura.
People wil make their homes there. The curse of destruction will be lifted; Jerusalem wil be safe tolive in.
Et hæc erit plaga qua percutiet Dominus omnes gentes quæ pugnaverunt adversus Jerusalem : tabescet caro uniuscujusque stantis super pedes suos : et oculi ejus contabescent in foraminibus suis, et lingua eorum contabescet in ore suo.12 And this is the plague with which Yahweh will strike al the nations who have fought againstJerusalem; their flesh wil rot while they are stil standing on their feet; their eyes wil rot in their sockets; theirtongues wil rot in their mouths.
In die illa erit tumultus Domini magnus in eis : et apprehendet vir manum proximi sui, et conseretur manus ejus super manum proximi sui.13 When that Day comes, a great terror will fal on them from Yahweh; each man wil grab hisneighbour's hand and they wil fal to fighting among themselves.
Sed et Judas pugnabit adversus Jerusalem : et congregabuntur divitiæ omnium gentium in circuitu, aurum, et argentum, et vestes multæ satis.14 Even Judah will fight against Jerusalem. The wealth of al the surrounding nations wil be heapedtogether: gold, silver, clothing, in vast quantity.
Et sic erit ruina equi, et muli, et cameli, et asini, et omnium jumentorum quæ fuerint in castris illis, sicut ruina hæc.15 And the plague afflicting the horses, mules, camels, donkeys and al the other animals in thosearmies wil be the same.
Et omnes qui reliqui fuerint de universis gentibus quæ venerunt contra Jerusalem, ascendent ab anno in annum ut adorent regem, Dominum exercituum, et celebrent festivitatem tabernaculorum.16 After this, al the survivors of al the nations which have attacked Jerusalem wil come up year afteryear to worship the King, Yahweh Sabaoth, and to keep the feast of Shelters.
Et erit : qui non ascenderit de familiis terræ ad Jerusalem ut adoret regem, Dominum exercituum, non erit super eos imber.17 Should one of the races of the world fail to come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, YahwehSabaoth, there wil be no rain for that one.
Quod etsi familia Ægypti non ascenderit et non venerit, nec super eos erit : sed erit ruina, qua percutiet Dominus omnes gentes quæ non ascenderint ad celebrandam festivitatem tabernaculorum.18 Should the race of Egypt fail to come up and pay its visit, on it wil fal the plague which Yahweh wilinflict on each of those nations which fail to come up to keep the feast of Shelters.
Hoc erit peccatum Ægypti, et hoc peccatum omnium gentium quæ non ascenderint ad celebrandam festivitatem tabernaculorum.19 Such will be the punishment for Egypt and the punishment for all the nations which fail to come up tokeep the feast of Shelters.
In die illa, erit quod super frenum equi est, sanctum Domino : et erunt lebetes in domo Domini quasi phialæ coram altari.20 When that Day comes, the very bel s on the horses wil be inscribed with the words, 'Sacred toYahweh', and the cooking pots of the house of Yahweh wil be as holy as the sprinkling bowls before the altar.
Et erit omnis lebes in Jerusalem et in Juda sanctificatus Domino exercituum : et venient omnes immolantes, et sument ex eis, et coquent in eis : et non erit mercator ultra in domo Domini exercituum in die illo.21 Yes, every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shal be sacred to Yahweh Sabaoth, and al whocome to offer sacrifice will help themselves and do their cooking in them, and there wil be no more traders in the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth, when that Day comes.
