Exodus 6

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Nunc videbis quæ facturus sim Pharaoni : per manum enim fortem dimittet eos, et in manu robusta ejiciet illos de terra sua.	1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Now you wil see what I am going to do to Pharaoh. A mighty hand wilforce him to let them go, a mighty hand will force him to expel them from his country.'
2 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens : Ego Dominus	2 God spoke to Moses and said to him, 'I am Yahweh.
3 qui apparui Abraham, Isaac et Jacob in Deo omnipotente : et nomen meum Adonai non indicavi eis.	3 To Abraham, Isaac and Jacob I appeared as El Shaddai, but I did not make my name Yahweh known tothem.
4 Pepigique f?dus cum eis, ut darem eis terram Chanaan, terram peregrinationis eorum, in qua fuerunt advenæ.	4 I also made my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the country in which they wereliving as aliens.
5 Ego audivi gemitum filiorum Israël, quo Ægyptii oppresserunt eos : et recordatus sum pacti mei.	5 Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, enslaved by the Egyptians, and haveremembered my covenant.
6 Ideo dic filiis Israël : Ego Dominus qui educam vos de ergastulo Ægyptiorum, et eruam de servitute, ac redimam in brachio excelso et judiciis magnis.	6 So say to the Israelites, "I am Yahweh. I shall free you from the forced labour of the Egyptians; I shalrescue you from their slavery and I shal redeem you with outstretched arm and mighty acts of judgement.
7 Et assumam vos mihi in populum, et ero vester Deus : et scietis quod ego sum Dominus Deus vester qui eduxerim vos de ergastulo Ægyptiorum,	7 I shall take you as my people and I shal be your God. And you wil know that I am Yahweh your God,who have freed you from the forced labour of the Egyptians.
8 et induxerim in terram, super quam levavi manum meam ut darem eam Abraham, Isaac et Jacob : daboque illam vobis possidendam. Ego Dominus.	8 Then I shal lead you into the country which I swore I would give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, andshall give it to you as your heritage, I, Yahweh." '
9 Narravit ergo Moyses omnia filiis Israël : qui non acquieverunt ei propter angustiam spiritus, et opus durissimum.	9 And Moses repeated this to the Israelites, but they would not listen to Moses, so crushed was their spiritand so cruel their slavery.
10 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :	10 Yahweh then said to Moses,
11 Ingredere, et loquere ad Pharaonem regem Ægypti, ut dimittat filios Israël de terra sua.	11 'Go to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and tel him to let the Israelites leave his country.'
12 Respondit Moyses coram Domino : Ecce filii Israël non audiunt me : et quomodo audiet Pharao, præsertim cum incircumcisus sim labiis ?	12 But Moses spoke out in Yahweh's presence and said, 'The Israelites have not listened to me, so whyshould Pharaoh take any notice of a poor speaker like me?'
13 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron, et dedit mandatum ad filios Israël, et ad Pharaonem regem Ægypti ut educerent filios Israël de terra Ægypti.	13 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and sent them to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to lead the Israelites outof Egypt.
14 Isti sunt principes domorum per familias suas. Filii Ruben primogeniti Israëlis : Henoch et Phallu, Hesron et Charmi :	14 These were their heads of families: The sons of Reuben, Israel's first-born: Hanoch, Pal u, Hezron andCarmi: these are the clans of Reuben.
15 hæ cognationes Ruben. Filii Simeon : Jamuel, et Jamin, et Ahod, et Jachin, et Soar, et Saul filius Chananitidis : hæ progenies Simeon.	15 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul son of the Canaanite woman:these are the clans of Simeon.
16 Et hæc nomina filiorum Levi per cognationes suas : Gerson, et Caath, et Merari. Anni autem vitæ Levi fuerunt centum triginta septem.	16 These were the names of the sons of Levi with their descendants: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levilived for a hundred and thirty-seven years.
17 Filii Gerson : Lobni et Semei, per cognationes suas.	17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, with their clans.
18 Filii Caath : Amram, et Isaar, et Hebron, et Oziel ; anni quoque vitæ Caath, centum triginta tres.	18 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived for a hundred and thirty-threeyears.
19 Filii Merari : Moholi et Musi : hæ cognationes Levi per familias suas.	19 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of Levi with their descendants.
20 Accepit autem Amram uxorem Jochabed patruelem suam : quæ peperit ei Aaron et Moysen. Fueruntque anni vitæ Amram, centum triginta septem.	20 Amram married Jochebed, his aunt, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived for a hundred andthirty-seven years.
21 Filii quoque Isaar : Core, et Nepheg, et Zechri.	21 The sons of Izhar were: Korah, Nepheg and Zichri.
22 Filii quoque Oziel : Misaël, et Elisaphan, et Sethri.	22 And the sons of Uzziel: Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri.
23 Accepit autem Aaron uxorem Elisabeth filiam Aminadab, sororem Nahason, quæ peperit ei Nadab, et Abiu, et Eleazar, et Ithamar.	23 Aaron married Elisheba daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab,Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
24 Filii quoque Core : Aser, et Elcana, et Abiasaph : hæ sunt cognationes Coritarum.	24 The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These are the clans of the Korahites.
25 At vero Eleazar filius Aaron accepit uxorem de filiabus Phutiel : quæ peperit ei Phinees. Hi sunt principes familiarum Leviticarum per cognationes suas.	25 Eleazar, son of Aaron, married one of Putiel's daughters who bore him Phinehas. These were theLevitical heads of families, according to clan.
26 Iste est Aaron et Moyses, quibus præcepit Dominus ut educerent filios Israël de terra Ægypti per turmas suas.	26 It was to this Aaron and Moses that Yahweh said, 'Lead the Israelites out of Egypt in their armies.'
27 Hi sunt, qui loquuntur ad Pharaonem regem Ægypti, ut educant filios Israël de Ægypto : iste est Moyses et Aaron,	27 It was they who spoke to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to lead the Israelites out of Egypt -- namely Mosesand Aaron.
28 in die qua locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, in terra Ægypti.	28 Now the day when Yahweh spoke to Moses in Egypt,
29 Et locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens : Ego Dominus : loquere ad Pharaonem regem Ægypti, omnia quæ ego loquor tibi.	29 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything that I am going to say to you.'
30 Et ait Moyses coram Domino : En incircumcisus labiis sum, quomodo audiet me Pharao ?	30 But Moses said to Yahweh's face, 'I am a poor speaker, so why should Pharaoh take any notice ofme?'
