1 Anno vigesimo septimo Jeroboam regis Israël, regnavit Azarias filius Amasiæ regis Juda.1 In the seventeenth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Uzziah son of Amaziah became king of Judah.
2 Sedecim annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset, et quinquaginta duobus annis regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Jechelia de Jerusalem.2 He was sixteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem.His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
3 Fecitque quod erat placitum coram Domino, juxta omnia quæ fecit Amasias pater ejus.3 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Amaziah had done.
4 Verumtamen excelsa non est demolitus : adhuc populus sacrificabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis.4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.
5 Percussit autem Dominus regem, et fuit leprosus usque in diem mortis suæ, et habitabat in domo libera seorsum : Joatham vero filius regis gubernabat palatium, et judicabit populum terræ.5 But Yahweh struck the king, and he was afflicted with a virulent skin-disease til his dying day. He livedconfined to his room, while Jotham the king's son, who was master of the palace, governed the country.
6 Reliqua autem sermonum Azariæ, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda ?6 The rest of the history of Uzziah, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?
7 Et dormivit Azarias cum patribus suis : sepelieruntque eum cum majoribus suis in civitate David, et regnavit Joatham filius ejus pro eo.
7 Then Uzziah fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Jotham thensucceeded him.
8 Anno trigesimo octavo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Zacharias filius Jeroboam super Israël in Samaria sex mensibus.8 In the thirty-eighth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel inSamaria for six months.
9 Et fecit quod malum est coram Domino, sicut fecerant patres ejus : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.9 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his fathers had done; he did not give up the sins into whichJeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel. Shal um son of Jabesh plotted against him, murdered him at Ibleam,
10 Conjuravit autem contra eum Sellum filius Jabes : percussitque eum palam, et interfecit, regnavitque pro eo.10 and succeeded him.
11 Reliqua autem verborum Zachariæ, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?11 The rest of the history of Zechariah is recorded in the Book of Annals of the Kings of Israel.
12 Iste est sermo Domini quem locutus est ad Jehu, dicens : Filii tui usque ad quartam generationem sedebunt super thronum Israël. Factumque est ita.
12 This was the word which Yahweh had spoken to Jehu, 'Your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to thefourth generation.' And so it turned out.
13 Sellum filius Jabes regnavit trigesimo novo anno Azariæ regis Juda : regnavit autem uno mense in Samaria.13 Shal um son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah and reigned forone month in Samaria.
14 Et ascendit Manahem filius Gadi de Thersa, venitque in Samariam, et percussit Sellum filium Jabes in Samaria, et interfecit eum : regnavitque pro eo.14 Then Menahem son of Gadi marched from Tirzah, entered Samaria, murdered Shal um son of Jabeshthere and succeeded him.
15 Reliqua autem verborum Sellum, et conjuratio ejus, per quam tetendit insidias, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?15 The rest of the history of Shallum, and the plot he hatched, is recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel.
16 Tunc percussit Manahem Thapsam, et omnes qui erant in ea, et terminos ejus de Thersa : noluerant enim aperire ei : et interfecit omnes prægnantes ejus, et scidit eas.
16 Menahem then sacked Tappuah -- kil ing all who were in it -- and its territory from Tirzah onwards,because it had not opened its gates to him; he sacked the town and disembowel ed al the pregnant women.
17 Anno trigesimo nono Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Manahem filius Gadi super Israël decem annis in Samaria.17 In the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel. Hereigned for ten years in Samaria.
18 Fecitque quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël, cunctis diebus ejus.18 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel. In his days
19 Veniebat Phul rex Assyriorum in terram, et dabat Manahem Phul mille talenta argenti, ut esset ei in auxilium, et firmaret regnum ejus.19 Pul king of Assyria invaded the country. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in return for his support in strengthening his hold on the royal power.
20 Indixitque Manahem argentum super Israël cunctis potentibus et divitibus, ut daret regi Assyriorum quinquaginta siclos argenti per singulos : reversusque est rex Assyriorum, et non est moratus in terra.20 Menahem levied this sum from Israel, from al the men of rank, at the rate of fifty shekels a head, tobe given to the king of Assyria, who then withdrew and did not stay in the country.

22 Then Menahem fell asleep with his ancestors; his son Pekahiah succeeded him.
23 Anno quinquagesimo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Phaceia filius Manahem super Israël in Samaria biennio.23 In the fiftieth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for two years.
24 Et fecit quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.24 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.
25 Conjuravit autem adversus eum Phacee filius Romeliæ, dux ejus, et percussit eum in Samaria in turre domus regiæ, juxta Argob et juxta Arie, et cum eo quinquaginta viros de filiis Galaaditarum : et interfecit eum, regnavitque pro eo.25 Pekah son of Remaliah, his equerry, plotted against him and assassinated him in the palace keep . . .He had fifty Gileadites with him. He kil ed the king and succeeded him.

27 Anno quinquagesimo secundo Azariæ regis Juda, regnavit Phacee filius Romeliæ super Israël in Samaria viginti annis.27 In the fifty-second year of Uzziah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for twenty years.
28 Et fecit quod erat malum coram Domino : non recessit a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël.28 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.
29 In diebus Phacee regis Israël, venit Theglathphalasar rex Assur, et cepit Ajon, et Abel Domum, Maacha et Janoë, et Cedes, et Asor, et Galaad, et Galilæam, et universam terram Nephthali : et transtulit eos in Assyrios.29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead and Galilee -- the whole territory of Naphtali and deported thepopulation to Assyria.
30 Conjuravit autem et tetendit insidias Osee filius Ela contra Phacee filium Romeliæ, et percussit eum, et interfecit : regnavitque pro eo vigesimo anno Joatham filii Oziæ.30 Hoshea son of Elah hatched a plot against Pekah son of Remaliah; he murdered the king andsucceeded him.
31 Reliqua autem sermonum Phacee, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

32 Anno secundo Phacee filii Romeliæ regis Israël, regnavit Joatham filius Oziæ regis Juda.32 In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah became king ofJudah.
33 Viginti quinque annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Jerusa filia Sadoc.33 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
34 Fecitque quod erat placitum coram Domino : juxta omnia quæ fecerat Ozias pater suus, operatus est.34 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done.
35 Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit : adhuc populus immolabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis. Ipse ædificavit portam domus Domini sublimissimam.35 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places. It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.
36 Reliqua autem sermonum Joatham, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda ?36 The rest of the history of Jotham, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?
37 In diebus illis cœpit Dominus mittere in Judam Rasin regem Syriæ, et Phacee filium Romeliæ.37 At that time Yahweh began sending Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.
38 Et dormivit Joatham cum patribus suis, sepultusque est cum eis in civitate David patris sui : et regnavit Achaz filius ejus pro eo.38 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, his ancestor; his sonAhaz succeeded him.
