1 Perciò Davide disse: "Questa è la casa del Signore Dio, e questo è l'altare per gli olocausti d'Israele".	1 Therefore David said, "This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of holocausts for Israel."
2 Allora Davide ordinò di radunare gli stranieri che si trovavano nel territorio d'Israele e diede incarico agli scalpellini di squadrare pietre per la costruzione della casa di Dio.	2 David then ordered that all the aliens who lived in the land of Israel be brought together, and he appointed them stonecutters to hew out stone blocks for building the house of God.
3 Davide preparò ferro in abbondanza per i chiodi dei battenti delle porte e per le grappe di ferro, bronzo in tale abbondanza da non potersi pesare.	3 He also laid up large stores of iron to make nails for the doors of the gates, and clamps, together with so much bronze that it could not be weighed,
4 Il legname di cedro non si contava, giacché quelli di Sidone e di Tiro avevano inviato a Davide legname di cedro in abbondanza.	4 and cedar trees without number. The Sidonians and Tyrians brought great stores of cedar logs to David,
5 Davide pensava: "Salomone, mio figlio, è giovane e debole, mentre la casa da costruirsi al Signore dev'essere estremamente magnifica, sì da meritare rinomanza e gloria in tutti i paesi; voglio perciò fare i preparativi per lui". Così Davide, prima di morire, fece abbondanti preparativi.	5 who said: "My son Solomon is young and immature; but the house that is to be built for the LORD must be made so magnificent that it will be renowned and glorious in all countries. Therefore I will make preparations for it." Thus before his death David laid up materials in abundance.
6 Quindi chiamò suo figlio Salomone e gli ordinò di costruire un tempio al Signore, Dio d'Israele.	6 Then he called for his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
7 Davide disse a Salomone: "Figlio mio, io avevo in animo di costruire un tempio al nome del Signore, mio Dio.	7 David said to Solomon: "My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the honor of the LORD, my God.
8 Ma mi fu rivolta la parola del Signore in questi termini: "Hai effuso sangue in abbondanza e fatto grandi guerre, perciò non edificherai un tempio al mio nome, perché hai versato sangue in abbondanza sulla terra davanti a me.	8 But this word of the LORD came to me: 'You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars. You may not build a house in my honor, because you have shed too much blood upon the earth in my sight.
9 Ecco, ti nascerà un figlio; egli sarà un uomo pacifico; gli concederò la tranquillità da parte di tutti i suoi nemici che lo circondano; egli si chiamerà Salomone e nei suoi giorni darò pace e tranquillità a Israele.	9 However, a son is to be born to you. He will be a peaceful man, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. For Solomon shall be his name, and in his time I will bestow peace and tranquillity on Israel.
10 Egli costruirà un tempio al mio nome; egli sarà per me un figlio e io sarò per lui un padre. Stabilirò il trono del suo regno su Israele per sempre".	10 It is he who shall build a house in my honor; he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him, and I will establish the throne of his kingship over Israel forever.'
11 Ora, figlio mio, il Signore sia con te, perché tu riesca a costruire un tempio al Signore, tuo Dio, come ti ha promesso.	11 Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he has said you shall.
12 Solamente si degni il Signore di concederti senno e intelligenza affinché tu possa stare alla testa d'Israele per osservare la legge del Signore, tuo Dio.	12 May the LORD give you prudence and discernment when he brings you to rule over Israel, so that you keep the law of the LORD, your God.
13 Allora avrai successo, se avrai cura di praticare i precetti e le norme che il Signore prescrisse a Mosè riguardo a Israele. Sii forte e coraggioso, non temere e non abbatterti!	13 Only then shall you succeed, if you are careful to observe the precepts and decrees which the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be brave and steadfast; do not fear or lose heart.
14 Ecco, con fatica ho preparato per il tempio del Signore centomila talenti d'oro, un milione di talenti d'argento, bronzo e ferro da non potersi pesare per la quantità. Inoltre ho preparato legname e pietre; tu ne aggiungerai ancora.	14 See, with great effort I have laid up for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron in such great quantities that they cannot be weighed. I have also stored up wood and stones, to which you must add.
15 Ti assisteranno molti operai, scalpellini, lavoratori della pietra e del legno ed esperti di ogni specie per qualsiasi lavoro.	15 Moreover, you have available an unlimited supply of workmen, stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and every kind of craftsman
16 L'oro, l'argento, il bronzo e il ferro non si possono calcolare. Su, mettiti all'opera e il Signore sia con te!".	16 skilled in gold, silver, bronze, and iron. Set to work, therefore, and the LORD be with you!"
17 Davide comandò a tutti i capi d'Israele di aiutare Salomone, suo figlio.	17 David also commanded all of Israel's leaders to help his son Solomon:
18 Disse: "Non è forse con voi il Signore, vostro Dio, e non vi ha dato riposo tutt'intorno? Infatti egli ha dato in mio potere gli abitanti del paese, e il paese si è assoggettato davanti al Signore e davanti al suo popolo.	18 "Is not the LORD your God with you? Has he not given you rest on every side? Indeed, he has delivered the occupants of the land into my power, and the land is subdued before the LORD and his people.
19 Perciò applicatevi col cuore e con l'anima alla ricerca del Signore, vostro Dio. Su! Costruite il santuario del Signore, vostro Dio, per collocare l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e gli oggetti sacri a Dio nel tempio da erigere al nome del Signore".	19 Therefore, devote your hearts and souls to seeking the LORD your God. Proceed to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and God's sacred vessels may be brought into the house built in honor of the LORD."
