Geremia 39

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Nell'anno nono di Sedecia, re di Giuda, nel decimo mese, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia con tutto il suo esercito venne a Gerusalemme e la strinse di assedio.	1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced on Jerusalem with his entire army, and they laid siege to it.
2 E nell'anno undecimo di Sedecia, nel quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, il muro della città fu sfondato.	2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, a breach was made in the city wall.
3 E tutti i principi del re di Babilonia entrarono e si fermarono alla porta di mezzo: Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.	3 The king of Babylon's officials, al having made their entry, took their seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sar-Sechim a high dignitary of state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer, and al theking of Babylon's other officials . . .
4 Vedutili Sedecia re di Giuda e tutti gli altri combattenti, fuggirono e col favor della notte, per la via del giardino del re, e per la porta che era tra i due muri, uscirono dalla città verso la via del deserto.	4 On seeing them, Zedekiah king of Judah and al the fighting men fled, leaving the city under cover ofdark, by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls, and made their way towards theArabah.
5 Ma la soldatesca dei Caldei li inseguì, e raggiunto Sedecia nella campagna deserta di Gerico e presolo, lo condusse a Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, in Reblata che è nella regione di Emat, il quale pronunziò la sua sentenza.	5 But the Chaldaean troops pursued them and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. Theycaptured him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath, where hepassed sentence on him.
6 E il re di Babilonia fece trucidare i figli di Sedecia in Reblata sotto ai suoi sguardi, e così i nobili di Giuda tutti li fece trucidare il re di Babilonia;	6 The king of Babylon had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylonalso had al the leading men of Judah put to death.
7 fece poi cavare gli occhi a Sedecia, e lo caricò di catene per essere condotto in Babilonia.	7 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, carried him off to Babylon.
8 I Caldei inoltre diedero alle fiamme il palazzo del re e le case dei privati e smantellarono le mura di Gerusalemme.	8 The Chaldaeans burnt down the royal palace and the private houses, and demolished the wal s ofJerusalem.
9 E il resto della popolazione che era rimasta in città; i fuggiaschi che erano passati al nemico furono con tutto il popolo rimasto, da Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, deportati in Babilonia.	9 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left behind in the city,the deserters who had gone over to him, and the rest of the artisans to Babylon.
10 E quelli della bassa plebe che non possedavano nulla, Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, lasciò nella terra di Giuda e loro diede vigne e cisterne, quel giorno stesso.	10 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor people behind in the country ofJudah, those who had nothing, at the same time giving them vineyards and fields.
11 Quanto poi a Geremia, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, aveva dato ordine a Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, dicendogli:	11 With regard to Jeremiah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given the fol owing orders toNebuzaradan, commander of the guard,
12 «Prendilo e usagli riguardo e non fargli alcun male, ma prestati in tutto quello che desidera».	12 'Take him, look after him; do him no harm, but treat him as he may ask you.'
13 Allora Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, e Nabusezban, Rabsares e Neregel e Sereser e Rebmag e tutti i graduati del re di Babilonia,	13 He entrusted this mission to (Nebuzaradan commander of the guard,) Nebushazban the high dignitaryof state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer and al the king of Babylon's other officials.
14 mandarono a prendere Geremia dal cortile del carcere, e lo consegnarono a Godolia, figlio di Aicam, figlio di Safan, per dargli casa in cui entrare e potesse abitare in mezzo al popolo.	14 These despatched men to take Jeremiah from the Court of the Guard and turned him over toGedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan for safe conduct home. So he remained among the people.
15 A Geremia poi, mentre stava ancora chiuso nel cortile del carcere, il Signore aveva comunicato la sua parola dicendogli:	15 While Jeremiah was confined in the Court of the Guard, the word of Yahweh came to him as follows,
16 «Va', e dirai così ad Abdemelec l'etiope: -Così dice il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele: "Ecco che io darò alle mie parole contro questa città un triste e non felice adempimento, e tu ne sarai spettatore nel giorno che sarà.	16 'Go and say to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Yahweh, God of Israel says this: Look, I am about toperform my words about this city for its ruin and not for its prosperity. That day they will come true before youreyes.
17 Ma in quel giorno io ti libererò, dice il Signore, e non sarai dato nelle mani degli uomini che tu paventi.	17 But I shal rescue you that day, Yahweh declares, and you will not be handed over to the hands of themen you fear.
18 Sarai risparmiato e io ti libererò e non cadrai sotto la spada, ma avrai sana e salva la vita, perchè hai confidato in me, dice il Signore"-».	18 Yes, I shal certainly rescue you: you wil not fall to the sword; you wil escape with your life, becauseyou have put your trust in me, Yahweh declares."
