Levitico 21

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Disse ancora il Signore a Mosè: «Parla ai sacerdoti figli di Aronne, e di' loro: - Il sacerdote non contragga immondezza in occasione della morte de' concittadini,	1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,
2 eccettuati solo i consanguinei e parenti: cioè, il padre e la madre, il figlio e la figlia, il fratello	2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,
3 e la sorella fanciulla non sposata ad uomo;	3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher;
4 nemmeno per un principe del suo popolo contrarrà immondezza.	4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself.
5 Non si raderanno il capo nè la barba, e non si faranno incisioni sulla carne.	5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.
6 Saranno santi per il Dio loro, e non profaneranno il nome di lui; offrono infatti l'incenso del Signore ed i pani del loro Dio, e perciò saranno santi.	6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.
7 Non prenderanno per moglie donna disonorata nè meretrice nè ripudiata dal marito, perchè son stati consacrati al loro Dio;	7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God.
8 ed offrono i pani della proposizione. Sian dunque santi, perchè son santo anch'io, il Signore che li santifico.	8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.
9 Se la figlia d'un sacerdote verrà colta in fornicazione, disonorando così il nome del padre suo, sia data alle fiamme.	9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive.
10 Il pontefice, cioè il sacerdote sommo tra' suoi fratelli, sul cui capo fu versato l'olio della sacra unzione, le cui mani furon consacrate pel sacerdozio, e che fu vestito di vesti sante, non si scoprirà il capo, non si strapperà le vesti,	10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;
11 nè s'accosterà affatto ad alcun morto. Nemmeno per il padre o per la madre sua contrarrà immondezza;	11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.
12 nè uscirà dal luogo santo, per non violare il santuario del Signore, poichè l'olio della santa unzione del suo Dio è sopra di lui. Io il Signore.	12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.
13 Prenderà in moglie una vergine;	13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin.
14 non prenderà quindi donna vedova o ripudiata o disonorata o meretrice, ma una fanciulla del popolo suo,	14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people:
15 per non mescolare con la propria stirpe il volgo del suo popolo; perchè sono io il Signore che lo santifico-».	15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." '
16 Parlò ancora il Signore a Mosè, dicendogli:	16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
17 «Di' ad Aronne: - Se nelle famiglie della tua stirpe uno avrà qualche difetto, non offrirà i pani al suo Dio,	17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity,
18 nè s'accosterà a servirlo; se cieco, zoppo, col naso piccolo o grande o storto,	18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,
19 con un piede o una mano rotta,	19 or with an injured foot or arm,
20 se gobbo, guercio, con una macchia bianca nell'occhio, con scabbia persistente, con erpete per la persona, o con l'ernia.	20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.
21 Chiunque della discendenza d'Aronne sacerdote abbia un difetto, non si accosterà ad offrir le vittime al Signore nè i pani al suo Dio.	21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God.
22 Potrà tuttavia mangiar dei pani offerti nel santuario,	22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,
23 a patto però che non entri nel Santo, nè s'accosti all'altare; egli è macchiato, e non deve macchiare il mio santuario. Io il Signore che li voglio santi-».	23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." '
24 Mosè dunque riferì ad Aronne, ai suoi figli, ed a tutto Israele tutte le cose che gli erano state comandate.	24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
