Zechariah 2

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN	JERUSALEM
1 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw, and behold, a man, and in his hand was a measuring line.	1 Puis je levai les yeux et j'eus une vision. Voici: il y avait quatre cornes.
2 And I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, so that I may see how great its width and how great its length may be.”	2 Je dis à l'ange qui me parlait: "Que sont ces cornes?" Il me dit: "Ce sont les cornes qui ont disperséJuda (Israël) et Jérusalem."
3 And behold, the angel, who had been speaking with me, departed, and another angel went out to meet him.	3 Puis Yahvé me fit voir quatre forgerons.
4 And he said to him: Hurry, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls, because of the multitude of men and beasts of burden in its midst.	4 Et je dis: "Que viennent faire ceux-ci?" Il me dit: (Celles-là sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda,au point que personne n'osait redresser la tête; mais) ceux-ci sont venus pour les effrayer, pour abattre les cornesdes nations qui élevaient la corne contre le pays de Juda afin de le disperser."
5 And I will be to it, says the Lord, a wall of fire all around. And in glory, I will be in its midst.	5 Puis je levai les yeux et j'eus une vision. Voici: il y avait un homme, et dans sa main, un cordeaupour mesurer.
6 O, O flee from the land of the North, says the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, says the Lord.	6 Je lui dis: "Où vas-tu?" Il me dit: "Mesurer Jérusalem, pour voir quelle est sa largeur et quelle estsa longueur."
7 O Zion, flee, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.	7 Et voici: l'ange qui me parlait s'avança et un autre ange s'avança au devant de lui.
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: After the glory, he has sent me to the Gentiles, which have despoiled you. For he who touches you, touches the pupil of my eye.	8 Il lui dit: "Cours, parle à ce jeune homme et dis-lui: Jérusalem doit rester ouverte, à cause de laquantité d'hommes et de bétail qui s'y trouve.
9 For behold, I lift up my hand over them, and they will be a prey to those who had served them. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.	9 Quand à moi, je serai pour elle - oracle de Yahvé - une muraille de feu tout autour, et je serai saGloire."
10 Sing praise and rejoice, daughter of Zion. For behold, I approach, and I will dwell in your midst, says the Lord.	10 Holà! Holà! Fuyez du pays du Nord - oracle de Yahvé - car aux quatre vents des cieux je vous aidispersés, oracle de Yahvé!
11 And many nations will be joined to the Lord in that day, and they will be my people, and I will dwell in your midst. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.	11 Holà! Sion, sauve-toi, toi qui habites chez la fille de Babylone.
12 And the Lord will possess his portion, Judah, in the sanctified land, and still he will single out Jerusalem.	12 Car ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, après que la Gloire m'eût envoyé, à propos des nations qui vousdépouillèrent: "Qui vous touche, touche à la prunelle de mon oeil.
13 Let all flesh be silent before the face of the Lord: for he has arisen from his holy dwelling place.	13 Voici que je lève la main sur elles, pour qu'elles soient le butin de leurs esclaves." Alors voussaurez que Yahvé Sabaot m'a envoyé!
	14 Chante, réjouis-toi, fille de Sion, car voici que je viens pour demeurer au milieu de toi, oracle deYahvé!
	15 Des nations nombreuses s'attacheront à Yahvé, en ce jour-là: elles seront pour lui un peuple. Elleshabiteront au milieu de toi et tu sauras que Yahvé Sabaot m'a envoyé vers toi.
	16 Mais Yahvé possédera Juda comme sa part sur la Terre Sainte et choisira encore Jérusalem.
	17 Silence, toute chair, devant Yahvé, car il se réveille en sa sainte Demeure.
