1 Come, let us return to Yahweh. He has rent us and he wil heal us; he has struck us and he will bind upour wounds;	1 - Nella loro angustia si leveranno premurosi per venire a me: - Venite, torniamo al Signore
2 after two days he wil revive us, on the third day he wil raise us up and we shal live in his presence.	2 perchè Egli ci ha dilaniati, ma ci medicherà;
3 Let us know, let us strive to know Yahweh; that he will come is as certain as the dawn. He wil come tous like a shower, like the rain of springtime to the earth.	3 ci percoterà, ma ci guarirà; ci ravviverà in due giorni e al terzo ci farà risorgere, e rivivremo nel suo cospetto. Conosceremo e proseguiremo nel conoscere il Signore. Come l'aurora è certo il suo spuntare, ed egli verrà come una pioggia per noi, come la prima e l'ultima pioggia. -
4 What am I to do with you, Ephraim? What am I to do with you, Judah? For your love is like morningmist, like the dew that quickly disappears.	4 Che farò io per te, Efraim? Che farò io per te, Giuda? La vostra pietà è come una nebbia mattutina, è come la rugiada dell'aurora, passeggera.
5 This is why I have hacked them to pieces by means of the prophets, why I have kil ed them with wordsfrom my mouth, why my sentence wil blaze forth like the dawn-	5 Per questo li ho sbozzati per mezzo dei profeti, li ho sentenziati a morte colle parole della mia bocca. I giudizi che io farò di te sbocceranno come la luce
6 for faithful love is what pleases me, not sacrifice; knowledge of God, not burnt offerings.	6 perchè è la bontà che io voglio e non il sacrificio, e la conoscenza di Dio, più che gli olocausti.
7 But they have broken the covenant at Adam, there they have betrayed me.	7 Ma essi hanno trasgredito il patto come Adamo; ivi hanno perfidiato contro di me.
8 Gilead is a city of evil-doers, ful of bloody footprints.	8 Galaad, città di operai di idolatria, sprofondata nel sangue;
9 Like so many robbers in ambush, a gang of priests commits murder on the road to Shechem- whatinfamous behaviour!	9 come un covo di uomini ladri, così una banda di sacerdoti assassina sulla strada quei che vengono da Sichem, facendo opera scellerata.
10 At Bethel I have seen a horrible thing; there Ephraim plays the whore, Israel is befouled.	10 Nella casa di Israele ho visto un orrore! Qui sono le fornicazioni di Efraim dove si è contaminato Israele.
11 For you too, Judah, a harvest is in store, when I restore my people's fortunes.	11 E anche tu, Giuda, preparati a mietere fino a quando avrò ricondotto dalla schiavitù il mio popolo.
